XP gets you to the next level

Each level is worth 10 skill points, e.g level 6 you will have 60 skill.

Skill affects the outcome of the crafting project, the higher the skill, the better the quality. eg, needing 40 skill for a beam, having less than that, you will get lower quality, higher than that, more likely to get a purple.

Each item has a suggested skill, eg, a level to reach before being able to craft it correctly.

Again with beams, being level 7 in beams and going to craft a Mk XII item (which is 150 I think). Having only 70 skill means you will probably just craft a white. The higher level you are, the more skill, the better quality item you will craft.

Hope I am not way off here, but thats how I am seeing how the R&D system works.

If this is going to be the regular slot, I'll try to hop on in the next couple of weeks, before I move to Alaska and the time zone plus my schedule will keep me from joining at this time. Meaning I can finally get invited to the guild. :)

But it makes sense that the Mirror Universe is less equal and more sexist than our own. Or, maybe since it's Star Trek, the inequalities in that fictional universe are actually a "reflection" of the realities in our own.

I don't believe the XP shifts in any way.

But I see chances for Crit - perhaps the Skill is the only bonus you get from that?

...well I had the aegis on one of my toons and was procrastinating on a 2nd...so that sucks. I'm now done with the crafting system in STO.

Yeah, all of the work on the four toons I had at max levels for crafting, and they come and use the Krenim time weapon on it. At least I got the Aegis set on most toons before this, a couple of them before the dilithium suck.

So, as you can imagine, I've been doing a bit of crafting, but I'm a bit confused by the XP vs Skill. I've been mainly doing the research projects white reward some 6k XP, but also 30 - 15 Skill.

Does anyone know what the difference is? Seems like an odd separation.
