Re: Looking for ideas for a Tact Vesta

Hey Redlego,

Just been reading what you are looking at doing.

I totally agree with what CptDavid has suggested.

The sensor analysis de-buff ability that is on the science ships only, isn't specific for phaser energy type weapons, the Sensor Analysis ability de-buff's ships with a resistance de-buff of 3.33% which stacks up to 10 of them which gives any ship that you target of total de-buff in resistance of 33.3%.

I strongly think that Antiproton (increased Crit), Distruptor (Resistance Debuff), Phaser (Disable Proc) and Plasma (DoT) energy type weapons work will with the Sensor Analysis de-buff, but yes the phaser energy type does allow for the possibility to disable your target if your subspace decompiler skill has points in it.

But that said, I use a sci ship on STO and the two ships I primarily use for both PvE and PVP are the Nova Class or the Intrepid Class. Both of which have been proven to be an annoyance to players as I have used both GW3 and FBP2 with TraB skill to hold the target in place.

If a torpedo boat ship is what you are looking at, then I would suggest using the Dyson Sphere Torpedo (Gravitic Torpedo) as apart of your torpedo arsenal, as it has the ability to create a Gravitic Rift (33.3%) within a 1KM radius. This torpedo is very useful. But make sure that you avoid chroniton, quantums and tricobalt torpedos. the reason for why is, if you are going to the torpedo boat, chroniton is good for slowing the ships speed and turn rate but doesn't help in damage wise, quantums are good for the damage but slow in reload time and tricobalt has it has a massive slow reloading time and moves slowly when used with HY ability.

I would focus on Phonton (Quick reload), Plasma (DoT) and Transphasic (Shield Penetration) for the torpedo boat.

If it's possible could you be able to provide a screenshot of your current skill build and ship config of your ship, so that a better insight of what you current have could be looked at presently.

Re: Introducing: House Champion

December 06 2013
Ok, here's an update as promised:

The first house championship tournament will be space combat and will take place Saturday December 14th at 2pm PST. For details to follow but it is sure to be a glorious battle! Through a process of elimination we will find who is worthy to carry the title of House Champion and if, in the instance of a tie or draw we will enter into a sudden-death GROUND overtime.

What I'm going to suggest is a full aux phaser cannon build with rear 360 degree antiporton beam for subsystem targeting.

:)

With the antiproton in the back, tactical consoles won't affect it unless I give up a tact console. I would much prefer that my tactical consoles affect all the weapons. Subsystem targeting is no a necessity, just would be nice to have. Also, phasers are good because of the bonus damage you get from sensor analysis. (it only works for phasers)

I like too do CC so lets go with that. I just would like the ability to go 1 on 1 with something if needed.

No problemo.

What I'm going to suggest is a full aux phaser cannon build with rear 360 degree antiporton beam for subsystem targeting. Whilst the tactical vesta has an extra tact console which, yes, does boost your damage from energy weapons etc....what I will suggest is that you choose the science vesta...as most of your damage will come from your science skills such as GW.

I'm assuming you want a damage sci boat, more so than a CC or disable build??

Let me know and I'll put some suggestions up. I'm late for work but I'll write something when I get some time afterwards.

:)

hmm well, Although that torpedo boat sounds interesting, I usually only do PVE, so lets go with that.

Haha I see...

To be honest a sci/sci vesta does really really well with a full torp build in PVP.

In PVE though yes an energy build is sweet.

What do you aim to do ... PVE or PVP more? :)

Re: Looking for ideas for a Tact Vesta

Well actually i'm a science captain, but I chose the tact Vesta so I could at least get a little bit of DPS out. I prefer energy weapons as I feel torpedos are a waste of a slot on science ships. (too little weapon slots :I ) Also on a side note, beams would be nice so I can use the subsystem targeting.

Hello....your friendly PVP captain here. I'm assuming you are meaning a tactical captain ins a vesta? Great choice!

The combination of damage buffs from your innate APA and GDF means that your science skills will be massively buffed. Awesome combo.

Now before I start I need to know your preferences....hehe...sorry

No seriously I need to know if you prefer energy weapons or torpedoes, because both are viable...you just can't have both at the same time. Let me know then we can talk more sepcifically about builds, skill speccing and equipment

sweet! but one thing i am wondering: How is Pavel Chekov still around in the 2380's? Has medical tech advanced that much? or maybe he traveled through time?

Regardless, still excited to see how this goes! Big project.

In Encounter at Farpoint, retired Admiral Leonard McCoy, who was the oldest member of the original Enterprises senior staff, was 137 years old. Pavel Chekov was supposed to be the youngest member of the senior staff so it stands to reason that he would live a similar amount of time thanks to Federation medical technology's ability to clone and replace failing internal organs.

The the Utopian ideal that Gene Roddenberry envisioned has always been my favorite thing about the franchise, having said that I don't mind it taking a darker tone every now and then. DS9 was rife with dark tones and morally murky scenarios (In The Pale Moonlight). From previous shows we know that not everyone embraces Utopia and there are still misfits in the galaxy, I'd be interested to see how that plays out.

I know that dark is the new 'future' lol but I enjoyed the 'feel good' at the end of each episode like with T'pol kissed tucker's (sim), as a single example from Enterprise. I found the first two seasons pretty good despite their many run-ins with violent species, after all, without the negative conflicts, there wouldn't be a show!

TNG had many moralistic 'lessons' as did ds9. Things to make you sit and think about it for a second after the episode is over, "what if people really did think like that?" or "what turn of events in our reality would cause our people to go in that direction?"

Albeit, I am excited to see if this new series kicks off- TUVOK is in many different roles throughout the franchise and I am happy to see he is back to his hold self in this trailer! :P:P:P

Chapter One - Escape

The noise from the bombardment had dissipated hours before. The light of the setting sun a recent memory. Destruction and death could not be avoided as I scrambled through the fields in the dark. The colony was utterly destroyed before it even had a chance to flourish. I came across a control box, the screen flickering but still in working order. I tapped in a code to activate a bio scan of the area. Within seconds the screen displayed a handful of life signs near my position. All but one were faint. The indicators flashed in patterns so the user could tell the current state of the life form. They were Romulan. Five blips on a screen in close proximity mine being the sixth. Four of the blips started to fade meaning those would most likely die. The fifth blip looked as if it was moving towards my location. I pulled out my scanner and did a quick scan in the area of the moving blip. I slowly started walking towards the life sign.

He was injured, but not badly. As we approached one another we started speaking at the same time. Realizing we would get no where fast that way I silenced my voice. He was taller than me, well most every other Romulan was as I was only 180 cm tall and he was well over 188 cm. He was handsome and rugged looking. Blood ran down the side of his face but had been dried for some time. Using the medical settings on my scanner I quickly scanned his head. He had already been fixed up by the readings on my scanner.

"Jolan Tru, I saw you on my scanner. There are 4 others around here, we should find them." He said.

We both started scanning the area. The last of the other life form blips faded. As we both completed the scanned we turned and looked at each other. Silently knowing that we were the last two alive in this settlement. A large and ominous ship hung in the darkened sky. Dim yellow lights running the length and in some places the width of the ship gave perception as to the monstrous size of the destructive vessel.

"We have to find a way off this planet and fast." I stated the obvious.

"I have just come from the east landing area, there is nothing there. I am hoping that there is a shuttle at least in the west area." He said quickly scanning me. "You're injured, let me help you before we move on."

He quickly scanned me and started fixing the wounds on the various parts of my body. Once completed we moved to the west end of the field. Suddenly he tackled me and drew a disruptor. Rolling over he fired at something. It was a drone. He missed it as it approached and fired. It missed us, barely, but his second shot landed. The drone spun out and crashed to the ground. We grabbed each other, jumped up and started running towards the west landing zone.

To Be Continued...

Is it level-agnostic or have it's own leveling and skill systems or something else? I mean, does everyone start out on an equal footing, without any regard for their "normal" level and skills, etc.?

I actually want to say it's only for endgame but I could be wrong.
