The investment is rather time consuming and to get the 30 points you do need the other campaigns, but you can get it without ever touching pvp at all. saving your cash and materials for armor and weapons.

Outside of solving the builds once you're deeper into it, its still a good 1-3 months of time (depending on your schedule) to get 30 points. Getting speed runs done from other guilds and players do help greatly if you can afford it.

I don't think PvP has to be a big factor in getting HoM points - unless it's really good for making $$. Many of the items can be bought from players.. the mini's, weapons, etc. So I would finish the campaigns- save your gold to buy items from players. There are also players/guilds that run dungeons for gold. Completing the dungeons gives you the title credit.

I also heard that Nightfall and Factions give better xp and you level faster than Prophecies. I leveled to 10 in post-searing Prophecies - then jumped to Eye of the North and leveled to 20 very quickly.

Also remember they have said you can still work on HoM points after GW2 launches. Maybe some GW1 if GW2 ever goes down for maintenance (blasphemous!)

** and joining a guild that runs "speedbooks" and dungeons helps a lot. GoT or Guardian of the Turtle is pretty good.

We can't give you a date because it all hands on when ArenaNet release the server list. As soon as that happens we'll be able to select a server.

If I had to guess I think it will be in the week leading up to head start. As long as you check this website before the head start arrives you should have no problems selecting the right server.

I haven't heard ANet give any indication of when they'll put the server list out..

Does anyone have an approximate idea of when "our" server will be selected...and a date when that info will be posted....would like to mark my calendar so I don't miss getting this all important information. :)

I have been playing GW1 for quite some time and still only got to 15/30 so the investment is huge (or you just need to be really lucky!)

I've bought the Platinum Edition (Prophecies + Eye of the North) but neither of the other campaigns, and I'll work through to the 30 at least. I'm just curious -- How big a time investment are we talking to get to 30 points, starting from scratch with little to no prior knowledge of the game? Especially for somebody who sucks at PvP...

No problem here, at the beginning I was able to log in,create some characters then when I tried to get ingame with a character it didnt work. Took me like 15mins to finally get in.

Then ive got 2disconnects thats it, one because of a new build and another for ???reason.

I never tried friend list things ingame until yesterday but when I tried to send some nothing happened not sure if it was buggy or just the way it works.

Except that no problems or lag.

Lets get a tattoo thread started, I'll start with mine of course. All on my left arm so far. planning on sleeving the whole arm in mostly good nintendo characters, with a few add ins from games that i enjoyed as a child. going to follow the theme on the right arm, but switch it to mostly villains.

having such a hard time uploading photos, some will upload, some will not, sometimes it says file type not recognized, even though they're all .jpg tried with safari, chrome, ie, and firefox on pc and mac, giving me a headache.

I had no lag problems. I even increased the graphical settings (i was playing on the lowest previously).

I was playing around with the customized playlist this evening. Wiki says you can test it using a playlist called MainMenu - and it will work without a beta weekend event. Based on that I'm assuming they are calling the login screen the "MainMenu"?

GW2 Guild invites use your user name - not specifically your characters name. It's the name with the number after it.. mine is something like Kerstov.1234

As long as the officers have that they can send an invite.
