Re: Should the guild switch servers?

June 15 2012
I think we should definitely transfer if Jekk is an origin server, that's the whole point why Bioware is doing this is to move folks to higher populated servers. Even though they have not made it a very easy process - can't believe they didn't code guild transfers. Jekk will be on the list eventually and I wouldn't think it will be a destination server. I'm sure it's just that BW is rolling transfers out in stages so it may be just a few more days or a week or two I imagine. I plan to transfer regardless, so I hope Stonewall transfers as well.

Perhaps our Stonewall player base will become more active if a transfer is completed and when 1.3 hits live. We shouldn't feel bad about our low numbers in the guild playing, because all the other LGBTQ guilds that I have been monitoring on Jekk have mostly low numbers too. Note: I said mostly, not all guilds/factions, so to those that still monitor these forums that belong to other guilds, no offence intended.

As Kiddkasper said, our server is not yet on the list for transfer. We are merely trying to get everyone's opinion to make a decision in the event we are allowed to transfer at some point. I'm not sure why we haven't been listed yet because you can't get much more dead than our server has been but until we're given the ok, it's probably a moot point. Again, I would like to hear from as many KOS and LOS members as possible so we can plan for what works best for our groups. Thanks in advance to everyone that has responded or responds. :)

I would try reading the dialog aloud to yourself and see how it sounds compared to how it seems in your head. I think that'll help you see what I mean by it being a little rough. The actual mechanics are really nice so far. Mini-map markers and suchlike are well done. Just played a mission earlier today where every minimap marker covered the whole map. :| Completely unhelpful, LOL. Yours are great though. :)

Re: Should the guild switch servers?

June 15 2012
First, I have to admit that I haven't been active in the game for a couple months now. I've had some personal issues going on that have required my attention and energy. That's not meant to be an excuse, just stating that I've had to focus on more pressing priorities lately.

I would like to give my appreciation to the officers that have remained active and diligent in their roles recently. As Halish stated, Zep is very committed to this guild. But, circumstances in his life have required that he focus on them more than being participatory here.

As far as any server switch, it isn't possible at this time. Yesterday, I received an email from Bioware stating that I had a character available for transfer. It was on Mandalore the Indomitable. I had created that character to play with someone that I knew from online several months ago. It's a PVP server and that's why he was playing on it. The destination server was The Bastion. From what I can determine, there are only select servers being allowed to transfer and to other specific servers. Thus, at this time, Jekk'Jekk Tar is neither being allowed to transfer, nor is it a destination server.

I am certain that in the future, we will revisit this topic. However, at that time, there may be a charge to transfer and the server dynamics may be different. Regardless of what may or may not happen, I would ask everyone to remember that we're all human with desires, feelings and flaws. Regardless of differences of opinions, we should treat each other with respect. That's what we're suppose to be about.

Can we even transfer our characters yet? I've checked the list and Jekk doesn't seem to be listed; which I don't understand. Last night I logged on and I was the only player from the guild and only 6 players were at the fleet.

Thanks for your comment, Rodger! :)

Anything in particular you think that was still rough? Would love to get some input.

And I agree regarding the user review. It was just such a weird comment to make. ;)

Gravitos, We have already merged the 2 guilds back together and have re-invited those members of Soldiers of Stonewall that wanted to rejoin KOS. Soldiers of Stonewall (SoS) is being kept in case it's needed in the future. There are some members, however that have chosen to stay in SoS.

There is a 60 day period of inactivity after which you will be removed from the guild. I generally wait until about 70 or more days to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. :)

And everyone please, stop blaming the guild for problems caused by the game itself. There's nothing anyone can do about those issues much as we'd like to.

All I can say is that I look forward to playing it when it's finished! This iteration is a little rough around the edges - but that's what revisions are for! This is gonna be a great mission.

And, seriously, anybody who thinks that paying money means they get to control content should check what's on TV the next time they pay their cable bill. You're paying for access to media, not the media itself! :P

Perhaps it's time to merge the Knights and Soldiers groups and remove people from Knights that have been offline for say 90 days? I know the split was needed when we were really active but now it might be hurting us. Just a suggestion. Can always split again if/when transfers happen.

its not somewhere new (up by the first charr skill point challenge) but it made for a great shot for my human guardian, with the ruins of a part of the great wall in the background.

Since Halish said to take a shot and share something XD

Re: Should the guild switch servers?

Let me suggest issues and solutions. Do you think that is more practical?

Issue: KoS has a tiny active player base. High water mark for guild activity is six or seven on at one time, which may last for 20 or 30 minutes a day, before returning to 3 or 4.

Possible solution: Recruit or ally.

Issue: No one in KoS talks, groups, or organizes anything to do together. No one is taking the role of recruiter, or nurturer with any regularity.

Possible solution: ask for a volunteer to see if people want to do flashpoints, help with datacrons, company leveling.

Issue: KoS is too small to do operations, and usually to unpopulated to do flashpoints.

Possible solution: ally with the other guilds we know with a shared channel for grouping.

Issue: there is no active visible leadership in the guild. Yes there are captains who can invite, and Iszabeau maintains the roster and is friendly, but leadership is different from administrating.

Possible solution: recruit someone to perhaps update the gmotd with messages about possible things to do together.

As far as my comments about Zepari, my point was KoS on SWToR has no active acting leader. We have administrators. It was in no way meant to call him out. His reasons for not being on are his own. I do distinctly recall him saying he was done with actively acting as a leader in SWToR.

I am surprised, though, being called out by a person on a forum twice no less, who doesn't know how helpful and friendly I've been in guild, and doesn't plan to ever play the game they're looking to influence and control. Telling someone not to discuss something is insulting. I say this to both you and Iszabeau who called me out privately and demoted me. You can disagree with them and say why, but I for one am not used to passive aggressive punishment for making a suggestion or asking a question. And for someone who doesn't play a game to actively try to dictate what would work best for those who do seems more about control and less about constructive problem solving. It's like Queen Elizabeth telling Australia what their laws and behavior should be. I appreciate you take an active part in the forums and administration. But how does that materially affect anyone on SWToR directly that they would know? I brought it up again, because I was surprised and disappointed at the tone of the initial censoring reply with both people who sent them.

I respect that KoS has WAY more history outside of the silly Star Wars game, but I'm just talking about SWToR. There is a difference between being a leader and being an administrator. If the leadership isn't helping in game, I don't see know how many will feel any advantageous effect. And if the leadership isn't even playing the game? Well that's just silly.

Again I'm disappointed with me being demoted for asking a question on a forum. I didn't care about being a Captain, other than it allowed me to be helpful to others. The demotion was just disappointing. I have really tried to not make this a flounce post, but in the end I guess it is 'cause there really is no reason for me to stick around KoS if there's no in-game community currently, and history tells me no one will nurture one in the future.

Maybe others who actually play like it as is, don't find the issues I brought up to be relevant, but I'm hoping they'll be of some use, otherwise I've just typed into the ether.

A "family" talks and helps each other. Sometimes families grow through marriages. Sometimes they're better off when a cranky uncle just leaves them alone. Imma go now and yell at kids and tell them to get off lawns.

Thanks so much for your review and support, Halish. And thanks for the constructive criticism. :)

Response to Halish
I will do another spell check (and have already changed bits and pieces in my current version). Some things just get unnoticed, cause there is so much dialog in the mission. I sometimes mix up "you're" and "your" - especially when I type fast. One of the few things that I hate about the English language ("their" and "they're" is about the same). ;)

I see the problem with short sentences. I always try to make sentences clear and easy, but I might've gone overboard in some instances. Have already changed some dialogs in my internal build to improve their flow.

Update
I'm currently working on the Docking Ring map and have it almost finished. Habitat Ring and Mission Debriefing to go and the mission will be complete. Can't wait to work on part 2!

Reviews so far
Most feedback has been quite positive and I'm really glad. Me is a happy boy! :)

However, one reviewer slammed the mission for political correctness and me forcing my personal views onto others. He's raging about me promoting stuff in a game he pays money for... Mission accomplished, I guess. B)
In all seriousness: I'm a bit saddened by this response. It just happens that one of the male characters talks about his male fiancé; and that the Bajoran Vedek is onboard the Ratosha because she wants to lead their wedding ceremony. That's not even a huge plot point. I'm neither forcing anything upon someone, nor am I actively promoting same-sex marriage - they are just talking about in a sentence or two.

I'm still looking for feedback. If anyone's willing to help out, I'd be more than happy!
