Right? On the surface they're claiming a better, shorter, Klingon gameplay. But I have serious reservations about the clunkiness of creating a lvl 25 klink from scratch, and the added commitment to a Fed toon before creating a Klingon. Seems to me this will reinforce the view of Klingons as alts instead of mains. I don't know, maybe I'm being pessimistic and this really is just a holding pattern while more klingon content is added and the level-floor lowered.

I mean, purchase slots for already-created characters to make up for the loss of slot (I think it's going to be one) I'll have once I rejoin the game free-to-play.

Bah, I'll just buy them anyway. Like I said, I'd already created in my head half the crew for the slot for my 300-day reward that I'm not going to get now.

If you've already purchased them, then they should remain as purchased. There'd be a heck of an uproar if Cryptic/PW tried to take away items already bought.

Yeah, this kind of shocked me too. What's the purpose of creating a Klingon Academy if they are doing away with the ability of starting a new Klingon from the very start?

At least, as I understand it with Champs, I have several characters that were there prior to the F2P changover. They still exist if I want to go back, but I will need to "convert" them to the new archetypes for the Free-To-Play or go back as a subscriber.

I suspect it'll be similar with STO: no character will ever be deleted, but you may lose access to a character until you are a paying subscriber again.

Yup, read through it carefully. And do hover-overs on the question marks. Some things that look like you wouldn't have as a Silver you actually do if you've EVER had a subscription. So some things aren't quite as bad as they look at first blush. I still might lose a slot, though.

Yuk, it looks like when I come back into game, I'm going to lose anywhere from 1 to 3 character slots. This makes me very sad, my captains and BOs are going to get killed. Every single character I create, captain and BO, I invest with a backstory.

This is so strange for me... I had Starz for years and were the best movie channel. Apparently I stopped watching just as they started doing originals. Had no idea they were so happy about nudity (sounds like Skinimax is losing their market). I'm certainly not objecting as far as Torchwood is concerned. I've kinda wanted to go back and watch Spartacus, I'm just not so such I could handle the apparent gore the commercials seem to display.

Tactics is a control window that lets you customize how your party reacts in different situations.

There are several pre-built Tactics based on the character (Tanker, Ranged Damage Dealer, Rogue, Healer), but you want even stricter control can customize these even further (For example, if your entire team is at half health or below, cast a power group heal). I never got that deep in the first game (I did so only with one character in DA2 since depending on his form he can be a power-healer or cast nasty damage anad I wanted the AI to switch between the two).

Generally you just pick one and let the AI go to work. Further, you can directly control any of the companions as you would your primary character, just any human/story interaction defaults to the primary character (and his traits).

I was looking at Dragon Age Origins the other day and I had a couple questions about it. I know that Dragon Age Origins was really popular among people in the Fleet before Star Trek Online was announced and that were a lot of people that played Dragon Age 2 when it came out so I hoping some of you could answer my questions.

From what I can tell you have a merry gang of misfits to accompany you on your quest. How do you control your team mates? Do they just do there own thing and is there any form of instructions? If you do tell them what to do, is it just like issue commands every now and then or is it more advanced?

Also, I'm not a fan of fantasy. Never have bee, prolly never will be, but the storyline in DAO does look interesting. Would a pure sci-fi loving nerd like me still find Dragon Age Origins fun?
