08/26/2011 - Edit: okays after thinking about the server farm, nay don't buy it. If BioWare
had reviewed the contract with the farm they would have caught this clause. I review
contracts all day long and look for issues/problems or what ever there maybe with a contract.
Now if BioWare hires individuals who do not know what they are doing and having the company
agree to some rule that is outside there normal then that is another issue all together.

This might be a reason they use to reduce the heat but again I don't buy it.
=====================================================================================

Agree with you guys on this sounds hopeful and makes sense but you'd think a server farm wouldn't even care but who knows.

Thanks for posting hon, made a tingle in my tummy.

I really hope that rumour is true. It certainly fits with Cory's short sharp answer that seemed to contradict earlier statements. It sounded like he was scared to get in trouble if he elaborated on his answer. Fingers crossed they make a statement to clear up this confusion soon.

I wonder why they keep it going and haven't said anything about the topic?

I'm wondering this as well. They've already said there won't be SGRAs, so why do they keep the topic going?

I'm not sure where I read this (on our forums or BioWare's) but there is rumor and speculation that both BW and LA had planned for SGRA's (even so far as to have hours of voice over recorded).

The latest rumor is that the company that own's the server farm they are utilizing has a clause in their contract allowing them to prevent material they deem "controversial" from being hosted on their servers.

Again, I remind you that this is all still rumor, but the rumor continues on to say that given the short time remaining for release (expected November/December), they don't believe there will be time to find a new host and get them set up, or develop their own internal server infrastructure. As the rumor goes, when the relationship with the existing server host has been changed, the content might then be made available.

One last time I stress is that this is rumor and speculation that I ran into while reading various forums and news reports on the subject.

This is very exciting news. I really hope this turns out to be set further in the future than TNG/DS9/VOY. I agree that we have seen a lot during this timeline and something further in the future will be refreshing. I just hope there are no kids especially a Wesley like character. I loved TNG but the families business always bored me.

I had several weeks worth of problems getting a viable pre-order code from Gamestop but I finally got the pre-order registered yesterday.

I'm not sure exactly what the article is saying though; are they saying that late pre-orders will not necessarily give you early access? I certainly hope not cuz if they do I'mma be pissedoff.

They'd better give me some really awesome extra in game items or bonuses if that happens or comp me a month's worth of gameplay. lol

I've heard ideas from everywhere on this. The ones I like though are:

Animated version, ala SW:Clone Wars, of Titan or new Voyager. Has potential just because the budget wouldn't have to be as big with effects being almost limitless.

A glue series that shows the gap between TOS and TNG. I think this could be fun and it would be easy to intertwine familiar characters.

And props to the G and T show, a vanguard-esque story arc that follows 4 or 5 different offices/ships assigned to said star base. This would give the writers a ton of options but I don't know how much it would pull in more casual fans.

At any rate new Trek is better than no trek, great thread.

That's actually the one thing I'm worried about with this idea. I'm getting tired of the 'government turns out to be corrupt and it's up to our plucky heroes to expose them for the lying liars they are' trope. I wouldn't mind if they did this for a season, but if that's the arc for the entire series, I'm going to get bored with it really fast.

Plus, I've always liked how the Federation, as a whole, has remained close its ideals. They're a nice spot of optimism in my sci-fi!

Of course, that said, I would love it if they created some sort of futuristic parody of the Tea Party (xenophobic, crazed "purists") that tried to get humanity to leave the Federation, and they're the villains for a part of a season.

The way I see it is that after years of war, the Federation has become far too militaristic and close minded, only worried about survival. Now that the wars have ended and a new era of peace has begun, they have to help push the Federation back to its original ideas of exploration and humanitarian aide.

I also read that JJ Abrams has another project he wanted to do first before the sequel which is another reason for the delay
