Re: Foundry

Hey Ian,

Welcome to fleet! Thoroughly suggest "Spirits of Ramok'Nor". It was done by one of our fleet mates (Alimac30); and really captures the feeling of a good DS9 episode. It was also the cover story for this month's "Stonewall Times"--which can be accessed by hovering over the "Contact" tab in the menu bar at the top of this page, and then clicking Stonewall Times.

I'm taking the next week off so I'll definitely check out your mission(s).

See you in game,
Christian

Foundry

August 10 2011
Hey everyone, I'm Ian a newbie round here (but certainly not a noob ;))

I was wondering if anyone else does much with the Foundry? I've done my first few missions and am really enjoying it. The tools aren't bad but I can see a lot more potential if they gave a few more tools such as providing objectives which can fail the mission completely.

THe ones i've made:

A two parter: Enemies Rising

&

Vulcan Ends.

Anyone else got missions they'd like others to have a go at? I'd appreciate people having a go at mine and giving some feedback.

Today, for my Massively.com Livestream, Josh@six-of-nine, Leon@vandiran4951, Lance@colivia, Rob@mehtos5k and I completed The Cure in 49 minutes.

I uploaded the video so you can see it :)

Like the surprise at 44:03? LMAO! I had no idea I hit a button to do that.

Re: Getting to know you.

Hi everyone. I'm Ian from Cardiff in the UK (Torchwood viewers across the pond will know it).

I'm not new to fleets as I used to be an active member of UFDF but stopped with them about a year ago as life got too busy. They're now defuct (I'm not suggesting it was down to me leaving, even though that would be devestating  ).

I love most series of Star Trek, especiall Voy, later seasons of DS9 and the last season of Enterprise (the rest of it is garbage).

I've just got my first character to VA, although I die within a few seconds of PVP so maybe I need to work on it.

In the outside world I am training for the marathon and am running in between missions.

Be good to be a member of an active fleet again!

There's a Captain's Database? Is this normally accessible (with signup, of course)?

Yeah, I suppose I will take JavaScript Ninja as a title. All programming languages are virtually the same in the end. It's just a matter of syntactic sugar.

PM me and we can discuss what you want to accomplish. I'm sure it's quite doable.

@JimCushman: I agree! I have never wanted to belong to a "guild" before, and I have to say I'm quite intrigued by the comradeship here.

@NicholasJohn16: Thank you from me, also. I'm _very_ impressed by your work on this site. First, it makes me want to delve into Joomla. Second, it makes me want to participate. After a probationary period, I would love to assist with any development ideas you may have.

@Jerran: I truly believe we're at the cusp of a new era of MMO where game developers will further engage their guilds by offering APIs for data access. It would probably need to be OAuth driven (i.e. we would give the guild access permission), but I see it coming. It would further drive sales for the gaming industry.

Thank you, but most of this is just download, install, then configure settings. I'd would love the help. :D With my updates to the Character Manager, I could use someone that knows JavaScript.

I have ideas of how to do it without APIs, basically fill in the blank at first, then maybe something more advanced with an HTML DOM Parser I found once they get the Captain's Database back up. I would love to push Cryptic into creating an API that could use for Star Trek and possibly all of their games.

I think it'd be very neat to show off all your characters on your profile. I've been working on up upgrades to our "Character Manager". I'll try working in accolades as well.

While you're on the forums, you can see member's who have earned awards in the fleet beneath their profile like

I would love to be able to adorn my profile with a list of my completed accolades. It might be nice to have that as a "section."

Anyone else think so?

You'd think STO itself would have some way of doing that, knowing that a lot of players probably chat on boards like this. It be cool to just be able to get a snippet of code to use on a forum.
