In addition to the 2 hours of time for the officers, I'll volunteer an additional hour of Klingon specific help.

I've watched the first few episodes.

So far I've been enjoying it. But, it hits me that it's basically a remake of the "Walking Dead" series... except the replaced the apocalyptic dead world with the apocalyptic alien invasion world.

Either way.... I enjoy it so far. Go Aliens... and Zombies! LOL :D

Earth 2 was amazing; it still pains me that it got canceled.

We've been watching it Netflix Instant Streaming, unlike most SciFi of it's era, I personally don't believe it shows it's age. No hokey technologies or lines of technobabble. It was spotless until there was one attempted CGI effect to create an explosion that was just horrendous. Even some of the tougher bits of the Terrians or human/Terrian characters coming in and out of the ground (mostly) appears completely believable.

If this show aired today on SyFy or TNT, I think it'd do very well.

The premier had 5.9 million viewers according the Nielson and the next week they had 4.2 million. That's not bad at all if they can keep the numbers up that high. Hopefully, it'll be allowed to run it's entire storyline. Earth 2 was amazing; it still pains me that it got canceled.

Hearing about these dark and light side points makes me wonder where they are going with it. Surely not new abilities because it would blur the lines between the sides too much. Perhaps some kind of reputation maybe...?

the interview i saw they said the dark side and light side poitns effect how your companiona relate to you. They said that it wont effect your side the example they gave would be equivelant to a WW2 solider doing his job and saving lives (light) to a WW2 solider keeping a nazi in his basement and torturing him (dark)

I'd be willing to do a full gear set for Fed character starting out, anywhere from Lt to Cdr.

SHIPS:
  • Weapons
  • Shields
  • Engines
  • Deflector
  • Consoles
  • Battery Sets

Personnel Character & Away Team
  • Body Armor
  • Shields
  • Weapons
  • Class Kits
  • Hypos, Shields, PowerCells

Agreed. I have been anticipating this show and kept hoping it wasn't going to be some corny Siffy (SyFy) wannabe. I was pleasantly surprised with the first two episode (the premiere 2-hour) and look forward to sitting down with the third in the next day or two.

Like Mikey said, I hope it gets it's fair chance at a full run. I keep sharing my old favorite shows with Mike that didn't quite make it through their entire story (Firefly, Earth 2 so far, with The 4400 to follow).

I dunno... I will probably be playing on the Dark Side, myself. ;)

Still, though... Be nice if they would make space combat multi-player... And free-roam.

But even though I dislike the space combat system they've chosen to use (Starfox 64), I'm probably going to choose to play an Imperial Agent simply for their super cool Phantom starship. xD

=edit=

Though, being an altaholic, I'll probably make a Bounty Hunter and Trooper, as well. :p

That's the only real negative about the game to me as well, I was hoping for a space system more like in SWG, or even that old game Freelancer.
Well, that and there doesn't appear to be class that's both Support and DPS, like the one I was playing in SWG (Officer). So I'm looking at either Gunslinger Smuggler and/or whichever branch of Trooper has Combat Medic. But I'm still excited, especially because it looks like it won't take an hour to get buffed for a raid now! :P

Welcome to the Stonewall forums! ^.^

It's lucky the game comes so long after the masses dropped SWG, otherwise SW:TOR's pathetic space combat mechanics would have been laughed out of the business. :P

Don't forget, SWG didn't ship with ANY kind of space component. You simply went from planet to planet like we Teleport in STO (except you had to haul your... umm.. backside... to the nearest starport. But while SWG's space component may have been much less limiting than SWTOR's, it sounds like SWTOR's focus will be on individual interaction and story (like KOTOR was) and SWG can't compete with that.

Hell, when we started following SWTOR, we didn't even know if we'd have SHIPS, much less any space component. Besides, it'll give you a reason to keep STO around. ;-)

As for the classes... I do have to say... the Dark Side has all the best looking ships and I'm none too thrilled about that. ;-)

Re: GLBT Foundry Missions

Sadly, I'm not aware of any besides 'Wounded Wolf'.

There's a very small reference in my mission ('The Spirits of Ramok Nor'), where a Ferengi mentions that the male security chief of DS9 has a husband. But it's only a throw-away reference in a piece of branching dialogue... certainly doesn't qualify 'Ramok Nor' as a GLBT mission.

I think Cryptic's position on this is that there will be ways to gain Bridge Officers of all different species in-game with out having to buy them, but for those people who want to have a single species crew, which isn't really cannon (there's only one example of it in Trek), they'll have to purchase them through the C-Store.

The only part that confuses me is that Catians are rare and Vulcans are uncommon. Wouldn't you think the species that breeds every 7 years would be less common than the one, that well, has litters?

Cats and other animals that raise litters tend to only breed once all of the kittens/puppies/cubs have grown enough to leave. Vulcans, for all we know, could have another child seven years after conceiving the first. (and humans, a bit like rats who don't have litters, will keep cranking them out with no end in sight, even before the previous child isn't even a year or two old. :P )

Also, the rarity could also represent how many of a certain race joins Starfleet.

LOL! So true!

I'm actually quite offended that Vulcans are common. I think they've made a mistake setting certain races as more common than others.

I know MarkNine and I have watched the first episode of it and were really impressed. We tend to not watch live TV and prefer to DVR our favorite shows and watch them with meals and stuff. I hope it succeeds and actually pans out to a full season rather than being cut short like so many shows.

Has anyone else been watching Falling Skies on TNT?

I had been looking forward to it for sometime and now that it's begun, I'm pretty impressed by it. I'm enjoy each episode more and more. I've started reading the Web Comic to get more of the back story.
