Re: Star Trek: Birth of the Federation

I still have BotF in my game library, but it's been so long since I've played, I have few memories of HOW it played. I do remember all of the openings thanks to Rickster's refresher.

I've been doing some digging, and apparently there are some patches out there that people have used to some success to get it running on XP, Vista and 7. Haven't tried it myself yet.

This topic almost makes me want to play it again. It does work under windows 7 but unfortunately you have to run it through DosBox which really does bring down the graphics quality somewhat.

@Rickster: Lol that takes me back. At one point I had all 5 of them memorized. I hated playing as the Cardassians because their economy was always tanking.

It definitely was a great read. I am amused by one thing about the member spotlights, but it has nothing to do with the author (Zep) nor the layout. Mikey read the second one (before I had a chance) and was convinced that it was Zep who was from Rochester, NY. I kept thinking his accent was a little out of place for a native Upstate New Yorker. ;-)

OMG, you didn't have to tell anyone!!!!! I had a blonde moment god!!!! can't we just let it go?!

Re: Cheesy Pop Event!

April 06 2011
A little update, the event has been posted for this thursday!

Just as a heads up, we will be hitting 2 nebulas this week to get all those wonderful data samples!

They will be;

Afehirr Nebula and B'Tran (VA) we get the purples in the sector space of B'Tran VA, which are really needed.

Look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your help in advance ;)

Re: Question about Foundry

April 06 2011
This is happening between different rooms.

I'm in a corridor and targeting enemies in an adjacent room and even in the corridor on the other side of the room.

=edit=

Nevermind, that's apparently a flaw in foundry missions.

Re: Question about Foundry

April 06 2011
That's not a bug; that's a feature.

This has to do with the nature of most of the objects in STO. As Zero says, the devs are lazy and when they make most objects, they only have a texture on one side, meaning that the other side is transparent. Any enemies on the other side of that object can still see you and attack you. For awhile, this meant that the enemies could attack you, but you couldn't attack back cause you couldn't see them. So they made it so that if the enemies can shoot or target you, you can target and shoot them.

Try adding in some more objects to make sure that both sides of that wall or what have you are opaque.

Re: Question about Foundry

I have a question of my own.

I've created a mission (Gorn, never to return) in the foundry and there's a huge, hideous bug. You can not only target enemies through the walls, you can shoot them, too, causing them to come running to get you despite the distance.

Now I don't remember any settings or flags in the foundry that let you do this, so what am I doing wrong, here?

because it is a PDF it has to be downloaded somehow -- you can try playing around with your browser settings so it just opens the PDF in your browser.
