That's awesome that you did the Myers Briggs test a few years ago. I must've missed the post...

Seems like upper 20's is a sweet spot on this test. :-)

Character Biography

August 17 2016
KEAIRA VARIL

"When I was still a young girl I remember waking up one night to my father crying. It was after the supernova, we were refugees on Coridan and he had too much ale. It is a rare thing for a girl to see her father in tears so I knelt beside him to ask what was wrong. Captain, that night my father confessed to me the things the Tal Shiar made him do as a physician, he put his head in my lap and sobbed until he fell asleep. It came out of nowhere. I was ten years old, more than old enough to remember that my people did not speak so freely of the Tal Shiar. I swore that I would never let them have a hold on my family again. I thank Starfleet and the Federation for every opportunity they have provided me, it is not that I want to resign my commission but that I must. The dissidents rallying around D'Tan need skilled officers and my ultimate duty must be to my people, I cannot stand by and watch the Tal Shiar press Romulan citizens into slavery."

- Lt. Cmdr. Keaira Varil to Captain Omero,
on her reason for resigning.

HISTORY
Keaira Varil was born on the Romulan colony of Rh'Halor and was eight years old when the Hobus star went supernova and obliterated Romulus. The destruction of the Romulan government pushed the colony, already strained by Reman coup from several years prior, to the brink of collapse. Her family was among countless others who arrived at the border of Federation space as refugees seeking food and some form of stability. She lived on Coridan with her family until 2397 when she became one of the first Romulans to complete the preparatory program and enter Starfleet Academy.

At the Academy she earned honors in her security coursework. She was given distinctions in martial combat, marksmanship, squad tactics and starship tactical systems. She expressed an interest to her instructors about being the first Romulan to command a Federation starship. After graduation her first posting was on Starbase 111 as a security officer where she served for a year before transferring to the USS Grishom as a security officer. She served aboard the Grishom for seven years; there she became the ship's Tactical Officer, eventually earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander and seniority as the ship's second officer.

In early 2409 before the sacking of Virinat and the destruction of Vega Colony the Romulan dissidents rallying around D'Tan began to gain traction. Word would eventually spread that the fledgling movement began challenging the Tal Shiar with the ships at their disposal, outdated though some where more members of the Romulan military would join the fight. Keaira would make the decision to resign her commission from Starfleet and seek out D'Tan's group.

She was awarded a commission as a subcommander and initially commanded a security squad on board the flotilla. Varil and her squad were among many helping provide security for the Republic delegation at Khitomer. Her experience as Second Officer aboard the USS Grishom would earn her a spot as Executive Officer aboard the RRW Vastara under the command of Admiral Jalen just prior to the Defense of New Romulus. As the Republic fleet continued to grow she attained the rank of Commander and earned her own command of a Republic warbird by 2410.

AWARDS/DISTINCTIONS
Star Cross
Medal of Commendation
Defense of New Romulus Veteran
Battle of New Romulus Veteran
Iconian War Veteran

CHARACTER NOTES
Her years in Federation space, specifically her time at the Academy and on board the Grishom, exposed Keaira to a vastness of culture she otherwise wouldn't have experienced in the xenophobic Romulan Star Empire in which she was born. Because of this she enjoys such things as Vegas Rummy (which was played heavily by the security department aboard the Grishom), an old Earth staple known as a bacon cheeseburger, Samarian Sunsets and hasperat. She has a pet lunarian caracal that despite the reportedly even temperament of the species displays an enormous dislike for a Ferengi delegate who once tried to court Keaira. She has an interest in botany and an appreciation for theater.

Yes! Let's do that test next month. It's always fun and helpful to get some insight into your own personality or leadership style. Thank you so much for that mister!

We actually did do one of those Briggs Myers tests almost 2 years ago, it was fun.

I got a 27 BTW which is fairly accurate I'd say.

PRIORITY ONE MESSAGE FROM STONEWALL FLEET OPERATIONS
Departments of Tactical Readiness and Combat Operations

@WhiteOnmyoji, Admiral
@Gr_vity, Admiral

Over the past several years, Star Trek Online has undergone a massive transformation and we as a fleet have adapted to meet the change at every step. From producing Livestreams, addressing the skill system change and the continued operation of the Office of the Shipwrights. We have sought out ways to help fleet member achieve their goals in the game.

In that spirit we are establishing the Battle Group Division and Battle Group Readiness Support and Exploratory Command. The Battle Group Division will be led by @Rorz, our newest Fleet Captain and another fleet captain. This division will be leading and running tutorials of the various STFs in the game as well as leading the Elite Level Cues. In addition, we will be producing tutorial videos for the various STFs.

Battle Group Readiness Support and Exploratory Command will be led by @MStFrancis. This division will assist fleet members increase their DPS and overall performance. We will run regular DPS measuring events and make recommendations to improve performance. In addition this division will also be performing incursions into the Tribble Test Server and any relevant resources to ensure the fleet is up to date on the latest on all things STO.

In order to achieve what we want, we will be streamlining resources to allocate them more efficiently. To do that, Tactical Readiness and Combat Operations will be merging into the new Department of Combat Readiness. @WhiteOnmyoji will lead the department as Admiral and @Gr_vity will be second in command as well as overseeing the Office of the Shipwright.

Finally, we are also establishing 7 Battle Groups that will fall under the Battle Group Division. These battle Groups are:

• Omega
• Azure Sector (New Romulus and Nukara)
• Gateway (Dyson and 8472)
• Resistance Alliance (Delta and Iconian)
• Terran
• Temporal
• Elite Strike (Elites, Korfez, Hive and Disconnected)

Terran, Temporal and Elite Strike Battle Groups will be led by Fleet Captains and the rest will be led by Battle Group Commanders. Battle Groups Commanders are fleet member that would like to take a hand at leadership. They will be in charge of assisting and training other fleet members in their specific block of STF.

We are now recruiting four veteran fleet members to lead the Omega, Azure Sector, Gateway and Resistance Alliance Battle Groups. If you are interested in becoming a Battle Group Commander, please complete the following form:

http://goo.gl/forms/PDJ8U6ec3yucBSjn2

We are also recruiting for one fleet captain to help lead the Battle Group Division. If you are interestedin becoming a Fleet Captain, please complete the following form:

http://goo.gl/forms/y5sqsQ01uPFmndhi1

We feel these changes will help the fleet step up to the next level and will allow fleet members to take advantage of many more aspects of the game.

I just want to add my little gushy thanks too! I've been in and out of the fleet (hopefully more in now) and last year was my first year going. You guys made me feel at home so quickly, part of a family of a large group of friends. That is something I don't get in my little corner of the world.

The first year, you pulled me out a dark place. The second year, you all elevated me to new heights and allowed me to come home with a confidence I haven't felt in years.

I admit, I have 'ugly cried' each time I have left. I leave best friends behind, new and old, in the hopes to see them again next year.

Awww, we'll you've got us now 24/7 :) hugs

I'm 21, yes Right on the border. But I feel this quiz is rather limiting. I manage a lot of types where an iron fist 24/7 will get you nothing, but I know that sometimes I have to twist the thumb screws in order to meet deadlines and they will oblige.

I give my employees a wide birth and there's no way I can be successful in my job if I take on everything my self or if I micro manage everything, there's not enough hours in the day. But I do require precision and efficiency. I manage people in 6 time zones, one of those time zones is 1 hour ahead another is one hour behind and another is 12 hours ahead. I need people to work independently but I also need things be done right because if it's not I may be waiting 12 hours before some one is able to fix it or if it's mission critical, I'm waking some one up at 2 AM Saturday morning or telling them to get in the office after a night of binge drinking and greasy food.

We operate on an overlapping 7 year time table and 7 years may seem like a long time but there are markers and milestones and in and each part is connected to other processes that can't begin until another process is completed. And when things go great we get London and when things fall apart, you get Green Swimming Pools in Rio. And sometimes you can do everything right and end up with a mess like Sochi. So in an ideal world we all collaborate but when you think globally you have to rely on what works, and if that doesn't work any more, you gotta figure out why it's not working any more and change it. If something doesn't work, you just got to fix it. Sometimes you can collaborate, and other times we just have to tell people what to do.

Indeed, the quiz is not comprehensive. I agree with what you noted, I work for a prosecutor that needs things to happen yesterday and in the world of law, not making a deadline may result in losing a case -in criminal law its especially disastrous so yes, there are times when you need to tell people what to do. It's good to have a blend of leadership styles for the sake of adapting and resolving various situations.
