Woops, just awake and misunderstood the poll and clicked straight ally before I properly understood what it was about. :S
I think just "ally" sounds better, because if you say "straight ally", you're basically saying only people who are straight can be allies. People who don't identify as any of the five might feel left out somehow. You may not mean it that way, but some people will perceive it that way.

Recruitment CXP, the fast way

August 23 2015
1. Go to the exchange. Set quality to "Rare" and click a category of Duty Officer twice to search the whole category of DOFF (like "Duty Officers - Science" or "Duty Officers - Medical"). Tick "Only show usable items" at the bottom; DOFFs of another faction won't work.

You are looking for the cheapest blue DOFFs on the exchange to convert to white DOFFs, earning Recruitment CXP in the process.

Buy a few. Don't fill up all your DOFF slots with these DOFFs because each blue DOFF will be converted into 9 white DOFFs and you'll need room for them.

2. Go to your faction's personnel officer. For Federation captains and Fed-aligned Romulans, this is the Human woman who sits behind Lt. Ferra at the Academy. For KDF captains and KDF-aligned Romulans, this is the Klingon man standing next to the console that gives datachips at the academy (in the little building with the exchange and bank consoles). For all Romulans, this can also be the console near the door in the room with the BOFF trainer and Centurion Velaar at New Romulus Command.

3. Click "Exchange officers", then "Rare duty officer exchange". A DOFF mission UI will pop up and you have to "assign" one of those DOFFs you bought just a moment ago. I use the filters to find them since usually I'll buy a bunch of one career so that I don't accidentally convert a DOFF I like.

**Warning** A DOFF that gets exchanged will be lost forever!

4. Get your rewards for that assignment - 3 uncommon DOFFs! Click "Uncommon duty officer exchange" in the personnel officer UI and assign one of those green DOFFs.

Use the filters to separate the more valuable green DOFFs if you want to sell them (green Research Lab Scientists, Damage Control Engineers, Technicians, and Refugees can often be sold for more than what you paid for the original blue DOFFs). Start the assignment and get your rewards - 3 common DOFFs.

5. Repeat 3 and 4 until you run out of DOFFs or DOFF slots. You'll get 150 Recruitment CXP for every blue DOFF and 50 CXP for each green DOFF.

6. When you have too many DOFFs, donate them to the fleet for 250 or 300 Fleet Credits apiece, sell the more valuable ones on the exchange, or mail them to your alts who need more DOFFs or Fleet Credits.

(Also, you can use the purple DOFFs here that you get from the colonization assignment chains at each of the exploration clusters if you have doubles or triples that you don't need. Each purple DOFF yields 3 blue DOFFs and 300 Recruitment CXP, for a total of 1200 CXP and 27 white DOFFs.)

Coincidentally, this poll has caused more activity on our Google+ page than we've seen in a long time.

It was great to see that one comment and two +1s! B)

I might be considered unusual for thinking that heterosexuals who are poly/kink can be classified as queer. So many different opinions on all of this, and rightfully so, because it's complicated.

That said, I really like the Google+ interface and am itching to see more people using it.

I've always been a much bigger fan for the way Google+ handles and the way it looks than I have ever been with Facebook. I recently returned to Facebook to keep better in touch with my extended family but find myself unable to use it.

I seriously hate the way you comment on a post and everyone else sees that comment. I only wish for the people taking part in that conversation to see it.

Google+'s circles are far superior when it comes to controlling who sees what.

But I have kind of let my activity on Google+ die because just not enough people use it.

It's a shame.

In academic circles, we commonly say LGBTQ. The Women's Center on my current campus, which is also the LGBTQ center but they wont' relabel it, has a sign that says "GLBTQ", after which someone has penciled in an I. When I was at Indiana University about 15 years ago, student activists typically used the abbreviation LGBTQQPPIIAA.

The challenge is that, these days, we want to mean, in essence, "not straight" but without defining ourselves via the heteropatriarchy or in terms of negation. And that is going to be challenging. I would say that there are even heterosexual people who are queer--the poly and kink communities, for instances, both contain straight people and are certainly queer.

On which point, in academic circles, we commonly use the umbrella term of "queer", even more so than LGBTQ. But I've found that, in large, nonacademic circles, the word "queer" is considered hugely problematic for certain geographies and generations.

ETA: Sorry, didn't notice the poll.

This i completely understand and agreed with. Not everyone would feel inclusive if they were put under the label of "Queer" for individuals who are poly and kink communities.

Building relationship with everyone on commons ground of understanding without being inappropriate, misleading or exclusive of others is both challenging, difficult and sometimes cause more problems than necessary.

Thank you for pointing out this as well.

So. I have a late 2012 21.5 inch iMac (with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 M), I know it's a pretty poor graphics card, but it should be able to more than it currently is. :S

I've tried tinkering with the sliders, but can't seem to balance performance with looks. As I have no idea what half of these things mean !

Please could you screenshot your graphics settings from ingame, If you have a machine that's comparable. Awesome Sauce!

PS.
If you have any recommendations for a gaming headset. That would be awesome!

If you're straight allied you're straight, but you're both supportive and non-discriminatory. You can't really be an ally if you're gay because you're already included in the first portion. Honestly, I'd be fine with either one as I feel they both have the same meaning in the end, with regards to the statement of course. My views!

True, but i think Ally would be stronger than Straight Ally as perception is key to everything. If we want people to see us as a fleet that accepts due to "Sexual Orienation" as opposed to, you are a person whom is an ally of the GLBT/LGBT community which is totally different in how it can be represented.

Being different is great, but being unique is greater.

Logically speaking, going with "Ally" would suggest that we are accepting of those whom are ally to the LGBT/GLBT community rather than "Straight Ally" could be perceived as only those that are straight can be allies.

Being transparent in what how we view ourselves is vitally and crucially important in the representation of who are.

Just my two cent.

Stonewall Vanguard needs our help!!

August 23 2015
It's no secret around here that our community is a little leaning in our representation of our guilds. (Hint: we're almost all Star Trek.) But that doesn't mean our other guilds aren't any less important. Right now, Stonewall Vanguard could really use some help. While we have a decent size guild in GW2, the community is just not as active in our community as our Trekkers are.

Guild Wars 2 is looking for high-quality recruitment videos to play during its next livestream of their first expansion. Needless to say, it'd be a huge boon to recruitment and exposure for the guild. We have some amazingly talented people in the community and I'm hoping that some of you will help cross the divide to help our sister guild.

I'm sure it'd be a difficult task, specially considering that many of you don't play the game, but I'm sure that working together we can over come it and produce something truly spectacular. I'm looking for people with audio and video experience who have made videos like this in the past. Please reply below and send me a message and we can start collaborating.

Thanks!!
