June 10 2015
Hello all!

I'm looking into getting a new keyboard and possibly a headset *hubby doesn't like hearing Borg explode at 1am* And can't decide on anything. lol

Hoping some people here have some suggestions.

Currently have the Naga Razer mouse which I love but have read some mixed reviews on the Razer keyboards and such.

HELP!

Thanks. :)

Also once you place your vote I'd like to work towards either a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. If those days are not free then please put your 1st choice of a day on a weekend and your 2nd choice of a weekday.

Can't wait to hear when we can start up. :D

[Spoilers] Sense8

June 10 2015
I got hooked on Sense8 and ended up binge-watching the entire season this weekend. I'd describe it as Cloud Atlas meets Lost/Fringe... not quite as good as any of those, but still high praise. I enjoyed Sense8 more and more as I got further along and am looking forward to season 2.

The Good: Intriguing, original premise; fantastic original score; diverse, interesting characters with location shooting in 9 different home cities around the globe; strong ensemble cast and maybe even better supporting cast; and compelling storytelling with the ability to seamlessly integrate lighter moments into otherwise intense, serious sequences.

The Bad: Stories like this rely just as much on compelling villains as they do on the heroes, but the villains (so far) in the overarching story aren't handled well and too much is revealed too early. The two female characters with the most screen time never evolve much past the damsel-in-distress cliche. The transgender character is easily the least charismatic and interesting of the bunch, but does begin to show some personality late in the season. Some of the individual character stories progress to more or less of a resolution; I wish they'd just left them all at a cliffhanger to be resolved next season. Naveen Andrews' talents are a bit wasted and Daryl Hannah's are entirely wasted.

The Ugly: The gratuitous sex and disturbing graphic images. I generally appreciate gratuitous sex, but most of it here was so poorly executed or done in such poor taste that it was anything but sexy. Even worse were the disturbing graphic images which, once seen, cannot be unseen.

Allllll of that said, how easy is it to create a new network connection? Can you "add" or when you go to manage the connections does it only give you a "Choose which connection to forget" option like Windows 8?
Is finding and accessing the IPV4 properties still easy, or have they obfuscated it within a frustrating labyrinth?

The full Network & Sharing Center is there under the Settings > N & I > Wi-Fi, or just type "network" in the search box. You then "Set up a new connection > Manually Connect". The IPv4 Property settings are [em]literally[/em] in the same place as in W7.

Honestly, the more I dig around in the Settings, the more I think that they took a lot of W7 and shook some W8 on top of it.

whhooo!! I didnt know about these New DLCs...

Jaws of Hakkon, which you have to pay for.. but it says its a good 6 - 7 hours playtime.
IGN Review here, sounds cool

and a FREE "Black Emporium" add on DLC.. which lets you customize your character again.. and adds a load more armor and weapons.. (you have to visit the war table)

I didn't even know about these, so thought id share if nobody else did either... Im gonna load it up again and give it a go!

I am here for more questions, Angel, if you want to ask.

Thanks so much. ^___^

One more question (prefaced by an anecdote): I was fixing my mom's W8 laptop last night. Somehow it went from being fine, to having its DNS settings changed without my knowledge while I was testing a website for my upcoming interview. Windows ran an update while I was testing and needed to reboot. After the reboot, it only had limited connectivity; it could connect to the router and access the admin panel of the router, but not go beyond.

It's been over a year since I did tech support for this sort of thing so I was having to really dig my brains for my old skills. It didn't help me that the laptop was slow (Suffice it to say that when I try to help her by removing awful memory and clock cycle hogs, she gets upset because she "uses" them) and pumping out a lot of heat and making me hot.
Most of what was frustrating me, though, was the inability to create a new network connection from scratch. I suppose this isn't a big deal for most people, but several of my neighbours and myself hide our SSIDs, and I didn't want to play musical chair guessing games with the various "Hidden Network"s in the list; I just wanted to add a new network and build it from scratch.
Less frustrating was when I finally remembered "Oh yeah, let's go play with the IPV4 settings" I was able to find it with relative ease and see that something had changed the DNS from dynamic to static.

Allllll of that said, how easy is it to create a new network connection? Can you "add" or when you go to manage the connections does it only give you a "Choose which connection to forget" option like Windows 8?

For those of you using it, how easy is it to find your IP address? Your network SSID? Your WEP? Can you still access MSCONFIG and dictate which programs and services start with Windows? Can you still bring up the task manager and force close problematic programs? Once you've found your IP address, how easy is it to release and renew? Does it still use all of that silly screen swiping and, if so, can you turn on a low memory mode to keep superfluous features like that from using up ram that doesn't need to be used?

I found this useful site for Dungeons and Fractals: http://gw2dungeons.net/

I'll be doing my homework. I'm hoping that once we get our group(s) together, we'll all have our rolls so we can improve on them and make our runs as painless as possible.

i agree that STO is a good game, but i like SWTOR better, and as i said, when i tire of them both, i hop on Aura Kingdom and Need For Speed World

Well if you're in either STO or SWTOR, add as many of us as friends as you'd like. :)

STO: @Angelsilhouette

SWTOR: Angelsilhouette (R), Brutacus (R), Tyrus (E)... er.. the rest use special characters. :3 But if you add me and send me a tell when I'm on (or a mail when I'm not), I'll add you back. ^_^
