Other Mac Users/Any Users Having Issues?

Hmmm.... interesting. Macs don't use DirectX, which graphic features need DX11 on the PC side? I wonder if turning off specific graphic settings may address this issue (at least Mac side).

Did notice one thing on my laptop- the game client is reporting a pixel shader error. Looks like other people on the forums have the same issue.

That´s not only Mac specific, I have the same error message with my Windows laptop.

I think it has something to do with the DirectX-Version you´ve choosen in the graphics settings (I have DirectX9 instead of DirectX11). Not confirmed though, I wanted to test if the error disappears after switching back to 11, but I always forget it...

Greetings, A.M. :)

Semil: Agent of the Empire

November 12 2014
Chapter XXXIII: Countersign Greeting

From the extra-dim lighting, Semil could tell the Vaq'ghol was running silent under cloak as he strode onto the bridge. Klingon lighting was bad enough for his poor eyesight under normal circumstances, but he had learned how to navigate the bridge largely by touch, sound, and instinct. K'vot, nor any of his bridge officers paid him any attention as he took up a spot at the secondary tactical console.

Through the viewscreen, he could see the expanse of gas, dust, and rock coalescing into broad arcs across the screen - a planetary ring formation.

Glancing down, the tactical displays confirmed - they were in a parabolic annular trajectory over Theta Lankal II. The ship was running at half-impulse
After he had heard K'vot give the order two days ago, he had looked up the star system in the Vag'ghol's database. Uninhabited. Desolate. Remote. Unremarkable.

A perfect hiding spot.

Whatever K'vot and the General were hiding, they had gone to exceptional extra precautions. No ships or transponders were anywhere in sensor or scanning range.

Semil had always presumed Vaq'ghol was one of the B'rel variants specialized for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering. Even for 25th century standards, the ship's cloak and sensor suite were finely attuned to each other, as if they were only intended to operate in concert - neither system betraying the capabilities of the other.

In the distant horizon at the edge of the rings, Semil could just make out a small mote, growing larger.

On his tactical display, Semil could just make out the small moon in their flight path. Theta Lankal Vb. A shepherd moon, no more than a few dozen kellikams across, barely larger than the largest boulders comprising the rings.

Sensors showed no power emissions, no signs of life or infrastructure. Whatever they were headed towards this tiny, quiet outpost for - it was as concealed and shrouded as anything could be.

___________________________________

Semil could feel the approach slow even further, essentially to a crawl. The small moon sat before them on the viewscreen, its pocked, mottled surface showing nothing.
It reminded Semil of a squashed, misshappen rippleberry.

K'vot sat and stared at the viewscreeen for a few moments before rising and heading to the Communications console. He furtively input a series of commands over the officer's shoulder. Semil guessed that they were protected access codes.

"not mev lingta ghIlab." K'vot spoke aloud, presumably into an open, or maybe encrypted comm channel.

Silence returned. The bridge was unmoved; K'vot and his officers stood stoically, in the face of the quiet.

"reH lingta mev ghel pagh ghIlab." The comms cackled, with precisely no sign of any source.

Okay, a standard sign-countersign greeting. That must be the standard across the galaxy.

K'vot reopened the comms. "ghaH neH chop ghom 'ej wej ghel, ghIlab."

The channel closed. Before them, Semil recognized the telltale shimmer of a cloak dropping - in this case, a duck blind. A massive one.

From behind the warping, a sizeable complex bore into the side of the moon appeared.
A drydock facility. K'vot signalled the pilot to reengage the engines.

As the dock came closer into view, Semil could just make out a pair of nacelles astride a great green triangle hull.

All Of Jack's Toys (A foundry mission)

November 12 2014
Title: "All of Jack's Toys"
Author: @gammadelta1
Faction: Federation
Level Requirement:41+
Author Notes: A lost ship. But is it the ship you must find or the reason it went missing in the first place.

I initially designed this mission as a dedication to Halloween, but it seems to have taken on a mind of its own. Although this mission is stand alone, there is more to the story.

I've never made a video before so you'll have to excuse it's issues.

J U D G I N G · E X T E N S I O N !
Update on Judging Timeline

Good morning Stonewallers and contestants! As you've all likely keenly observed, we've yet to post the results of our Character Biography contest, and will require a short extension to complete our judging, until no later than Sunday, November 16th, 2014, when we guarantee we'll have posted the results.

With so many quality entries and with our two-day Halloween Event just having wrapped up, we're needing some extra time to give all the entries the time to read and review that they deserve. We want to ensure that we approach each entry with a fresh mind, and that we don't experience reader fatigue by trying to blast through them all in one or two sittings.

We look forward to posting the results by next Sunday, and thank all of the competitors for their amazing entries and continued patience! Should you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to me either in-game, or through the website!

My laptop (MBP) doesn't do too bad with the game in OSX, but I have not played too much DR on it. I have never gotten the game to play well on my Mac desktop in Mac OSX (2010 MacPro), so I use bootcamp for it. Yes there is a reboot involved, but it's a lot less frustrating. I have a small Win partition on the main drive and use a second drive for Win gaming which has worked well for gaming in general.

That said, I have noticed this last patch is slightly more unstable than normal overall.

What are the issues exactly it may be other people have had them. Also have yoi checked the DTO forums to see if other people have reported the same problems as you and if there is a fix?

Are any other Mac users having massive issues using the new Delta STO? Are loads of people not able to do anything since the updates? Like I can't even get through the Nelix mission. I am trying to not get pissed off. I spent good money to get a great ship and gear and now I don't have real access to it.

To answer your questions: No my Mac is not old, yes it is updated and the current OSX. I didn't buy my Mac with gaming in mind but it is a top of the line computer and everything ran fine with super graphics settings before. And now I can't even do my dailies. :-/ grrrrrr lol

Thank you for letting me vent - is anyone else not able to play!?!?

Thanks, Voleron!

Since I am slightly limited with what the Foundry will allow me, I have an idea. I would like a vote to be held on whether the story will go in the direction of siding against them, or joining them. I think the first direction with five votes will sway which direction it will go in and I will revise the ending to reflext it.

If anyone's given it a run, please say if you sided with or against the consortium. Perhaps we can do that with sequels too, if anyone is interested.

Steel Hearts - Federation Secrets

November 10 2014
I played through the mission today, and I enjoyed it! Feels like a bit of a cliff-hanger and I was craving more of the story when it ended. What made it interesting, was the deeper relationship options that you can pursue through the chat dialogue. I was hoping for an opportunity to see how the relationship that I chose to pursue, developed but the story ended right when I wanted more :D

Given that the mission isn't too long right now, you always have the option of adding more of the story onto the end of the mission, rather than making a sequel, if that's what you had planned. Could work well either way, I suppose!

The story flow, spelling and grammar was good throughout the mission. I noticed a few small technical oversights that could use a clean-up:

As for why the mission isn't awarding rewards, I'm not entirely sure. It feels as though there's enough map transitions and combat to justify the normal foundry rewards. From what I understand, the system has an algorithm that calculates what it believes to be the play-time of every mission, and only awards rewards to those that have 20 minutes+ of play time. It was at least that long for me, since I was running the mission on elite difficulty, but maybe an extra map transition and something to do on that map might put it over the edge. You may need to play around with it a bit.

Was fun! Good luck - interested in seeing more!

36 minutes... omg... erm, I mean: there´s an easy explanation for that: we enjoyed this place so much (scary, halloween-feeling and all that, you know?) that we just didn´t want to leave! xD

Thanks again for organizing and hosting this event! I´m looking forward to next halloween!

Andrea :)

Steel Hearts - Federation Secrets

Title:Steel Hearts: Lumere's Secrets
Author: Avyntrahelion
Faction: Federation
Level Requirement: 41+
Author Notes: *Testing Phase*

Hello ladies and gents.

I have decided to start working on this foundry project again, and I think it is mostly done. I would just like some others to give it a scour and honestly tell me if they like it, love it, or feel I should be publicly humiliated for it.

Also, if there are any more experienced foundry people, what could I do to get it to qualify for rewards - I understand thanks to RainbowWarGames that I may need to make it longer. Does this have to do with how long it actually takes, the number of maps, etc.? If it's length, I want to add more combat - It's already pretty sparse and avoidable since its in the middle of a battle.

Also,

Any advice would be welcome!

And a big thanks to Mr Frozenlilly and Rainbowwargames for giving it a run and their feedback so far.
