I have loved Dr Who since the relaunch in 2005. Love the new series, but I have to admit they shot themselves in the foot with last years David Tennant and Cathrine Tate line-up, there was no way to beat that, lol.

Yeah, completely in love with the relaunch, though this season has kinda been somewhat of an anticlimax to Tennant's run. Matt Smith is doing a good job, it's just hard to reconcile him with the other lineup of Doctors (as the 11th), so I think in my mind there's a lot of separation of this season from the past ones, somewhat to the point of me having to shake myself when I look at a Matt Smith episode and think "This would make a great Doctor Who episode....oh wait....".

WHAT'S IN THE PANDORICA?!

I must know!

My bf and I spend ages talking about half-arsed theories. I think it's either going to be:

I've never been very interested in Dr Who until I started watching this season. I'm certainly really enjoying Matt Smith's turn as the Doctor, though it is making me wish I'd bothered to watch the Tennant years now!

Agreed, out of the relaunch series David Tennant and Catherine Tate were and awesome team; for me Tate was the best companion for the Doctor, because she truly is a best friend. And I loved the silent window chat in the beginning of their season, just hilarious.

And I agree with you Laeren, there is a lot of separation from the past doctors except for the snippets of flashbacks. I have a feeling this is itself a relaunch from the relaunch; there is a definite feel that the new writers are separating themselves from Russell T Davies' work. That's probably their intention, but they don't want to completely pull themselves away from the mythos of Doctor Who.

As for theories... that's a tough one. I wonder if it has anything to do with River Song having murdered an important man?...

The episodes are online, floating somewhere on unofficial channels... just gotta do a little searching for them. ;)

So what did you all think?

I thought in general it was good, but a bit rushed. I never like the finale two-parters as much as the rest of the series anyway. But this was OK, with some nice set pieces, good writing and good acting.

Still wondering why they didn't just shoot the Doctor instead of locking him up though. Fair enough, they know he can regenerate, but surely one member of the Alliance must know his regenerations are limited, so why not just zap him a couple of times?

I've been a DW fan since I first saw Tom Baker in Pyramids of Mars on my local PBS channel back in Junior High. I love the new series, and I can't wait to see The Big Bang this weekend.

There have been times this year when I have doubted Stephen Moffat's abilities as show runner, but now I have the distinct impression that when it's all over, we're going to have to go back and watch the whole season again to fully understand what was going on.

Now where do we start the petition to get them STO devs to add a non-combat TARDIS pet for starships?

    OOOHHH Doctor Who!!!!

Sorry, I've been away from the forums for a couple of weeks. I have to say its is one of the most clever and well written shows on Television today. I agree that the the Tenant/Tate season was the best season yet and that silent window scene was hilarious. Donna Noble is by far my favorite companion and I loved how they tied in all the other shows in the season finale. I'm a little behind on the current season then some of our UK members because BBC America runs them later over here in the states. So far I like the new Doc and I'm still getting used to him. I like Amy too but I'd like to see her take charge more like Donna did. I wasn't really a fan of the series until they brought in Tennant, I would watch the first season with Eccelston every now and then but he didn't do as much for me.

I too loved Donna best of all :) I even loved her in the Christmas special when everyone else hated her, and I was sooo pleased when I read she was coming back as the series companion!

Karen's doing a good job too though :)

Anyone got any wild theories about who the mysterious voice from the TARDIS belongs to? My money's on the Master (hopefully a reboot from the mess they made of him), Omega or a nasty future Doctor.

The following tags have been nested in the wrong order: video
I wish they would bring Tate back in a way that it would work. But I am looking forward to seeing more of River Song; and eventually being the next companion for the Doctor. She's right up there with Donna Noble as my favorite companions.

And I was thinking, it could be the master... sounds like a different, new, more camp master. That would be funny.

And I'm eager to the conclusion of this season and looking forward to the next season.

    Has anyone watch this:

So... what did we all think?

I liked it. Which rather surprised me. I think there was a bit of deus ex machina-ing regarding the Pandorica 'light' and the power of memories (though I suppose this has been seeded throughout this series), but I thought the dialogue and performances were excellent. Also very pleased they didn't reveal who/what instigated the destruction of the TARDIS - nice to have a bit of continuity between series.

    Best bits:

    More Scots :)

Auton Rory as a legendary, immortal Roman centurian guarding the Pandorica throughout history. Great idea.

River Song, rescued from a time loop into a weird alternate reality and looking up at a massive ball of coruscating fire: 'What in the name of sanity have you got on your head?' Fezes are cool B)

I can't wait for more River Song. She's one of the best things to happen to the show since the 2005 revival. In fact, maybe one of the best things to happen to it period. It's great to have a really cool, clever, brave and funny companion who actually makes the Doctor himself slightly uneasy.

We watched it last night, through not-entirely-legal means. (We borrowed it, you might say. But we fully intend to return it, someday.)

Loved it. My partner said it was the best episode of the series. And River rocks!

I also liked that they kept some mystery for next year (and beyond?). But I'm all worried about the ominous tone surrounding River. We know she kills the finest man she ever knew and ends up in prison, and that the Doctor doesn't know who she is, but will find out "soon."

And I loved the final "Time to say good-bye" scene. :-)

It was awesome, awesome, lemon awesome. Loved it, and loved Smith, Gillan, Darvill & Kingston. I haven't felt so gleefully, gigglingly geeky in a very long time. And it's funny, every time I watch a Dr Who episode, for at least a quarter of an hour afterwards I feel Matt Smithily hyperactive. So much fun.

Of course now I'm just *dying* for the next series! lol At least there'll be a Christmas special to break up the wait.

My boyfriend and I get to have an extra taste of Karen and Matt before the Xmas special, as we're going to see Amy and the Doctor hosting the Doctor Who Prom next month!!! :cheer:

Actually I totally agree, good point. I too prefer, at least when I remember, the American distinction between a season and a series.

Regarding Christmas, allegedly there's now a little uncertainty whether filming will go ahead! :-( Not a hugely authoritative source in my opinion though, so I'll wait for a mainstream announcement before I worry.

I'm torn on a favourite bit, mostly between "Fezzes are cool" and "Meeeeeercy!" :-D
