Councilman Joel Burns - "It Gets Better"

This was an incredible powerful speech and story. I posted this to my facebook a few days ago, and had my mom, sister and a dozen friends or so re-post on their pages. Hopefully a LOT of people see this, both teens who need help, and also those who sometimes look the other way when they see bullying.

I don't really know what to say. I think that's one of only a few things in my adult life that's made me cry. I know this is an American politician speaking about American problems but it's a problem we share.

Homophobia in schools has a devastating effect and every young life that is lost to suicide is a pain we all have to feel. I know our government seems intent (not the new coalition, every government) to ignore the problem despite a few openly gay Members of Parliament speaking out about it. I hope your government listens and something is done.

It does get better.
