Anyone else watching this? So far I kind of like it. I actually like the BBC original better. But here is also an article that I wrote for my school newspaper reviewing the show.

I was so happpy when I heard they are making a US version. Honestly, I like the US version more, if only cause I understand what the hell their talking about now. A couple new episodes of the UK version have aired since the US version started and I haven't even bothered to watch them, but I watch the US version as soon as I can.

I think the actors/actress for the main characters that they choose were great. I've seen the guy who's playing the vampire in some other things too and I thought he was good before.

The Vampire character in the US version I believe had a reoccurring role in Smallvile.

Sam Witwer has been my biggest TV crush since I first saw him on BSG, then later on Smallville.

Russell Tovey is probably in the top 5... that is why I am so torn about starting to watch these series... I hate vampire/werewolf/gore-fest shows :S

Yeah the vampire was in Battlestar galactica too. He looks much better in Being Human. Especially since he is naked more often :)

You should've seen him on Smallville. (I'm a little embarrassed to say that I watched that show.) But he was shirtless a lot!

that whole show is shirtless men. I think the WB stands for White Boys network :) It is the most homo-erotic show on air (after the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency)

I'm not sold on the American BH yet. But Sam Witwer is the best part of it. (And not just because he's eye candy. He just seems like the best actor on it, aside from Jacob from Lost.)

Sam was also in (kind of) the Force Unleashed video games.

I haven't seen the British version of Being Human, but I do like the American version so far. I think they do a good job in portraying the struggle between lying about oneself to fit in and the desire to be free but alone. Plus I like the characters, especially the socially awkward werewolf and the neurotic ghost.

... it's interesting to see how much faster the UK version unfolds and how much more the American version seems to need to explain, embellish, or particularly dwell on the vampire sex/gore angle.

Yes. This.

Before I gave up watching the American version, I found myself thinking: show, don't tell! I hate it when the writers feel the need to explain things, instead of demonstrating them. It's like the writers are talking down to us, or don't have any faith that we can figure it out on our own.

(But, yeah, I still wouldn't throw either Sam Witwer or Aidan Turner out of bed for eating crackers.)

I started watching the original on BBC America and i liked it alot but I gotta say I'm liking the Syfy version a bit better. Yes; I've had a huge crush on Sam Whitwer ever since BSG and The Force Unleashed and he needs to just be shirtless at all times (hubba hubba). I really like Sam Huntington as Josh because he always looks so angst-ridden and lost and he really is just adorable. He was on Not Another Teen Movie. I do like the original girl who plays Sally more than the new one on Syfy though. I think they're acting is just as good as the originals so I'm going to continue to watch both. Thank God for DVR!

Not to thread-jack...

Here's a little fun fact about Russell Tovey. After he appeared in the Doctor Who episode, he became Russell T. Davies pick for being the 11th Doctor. I was partial to David Tennant, but figured Russell would have been nice eye-candy. David left as homage to RTD, or so the story goes.

On a side note: I have to admit though, as much as I feared change, I really am loving Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. I'm really looking forward to the next season on BBC-A where they are actually in America. Absolutely LOVE the promos they've been showing since Christmas.

Thread-jack sounds like Red Jack, which reminds me of "Wolf in the Fold," so it all comes back around to our common love of Star Trek. :)

My partner and I drove to Utah when the DW cast was out filming there last November, and while we didn't get autographs, we did get to see some of the filming and enjoy the locations they're using for parts of the first 2 episodes. So we're really looking forward to the April 23rd premiere on BBCA. I expect there will be much squeeing in our house that night.

Sorry guys it has to be the original BBC version, the last series (season for you guys over the pond) was a pure delight to watch and that finally...

It always seems to me that US TV Studios like their stoies more fuzzier round the edges while UK TV can have edgier story lines that would make US TV makers cringe. At the end of the day it's never a happy transfer.

All I will say is Life on Mars USA version, say no more.

To be fair I haven't seen the US version so I hope it does as well as the original. :)

I like both the UK and US versions.

I like the werewolf and ghost from the UK version better and the vamp from the US version.

They should make a new ensemble... LOL

Does anyone keep up with both the US and UK versions?

I've been thinking about watching the UK version again, but I don't want to if its going to spoil the plot of the US version.

The US version has gone in a completely different direction from the UK, they could merge again I suppose, but I doubt it. The UK version went to a really weird place in season 3, I could barely watch it and I dont think they'd repeat that for a US audience.

I stopped watching the UK version when they killed off a certain character off-screen. Don't want to say who it is in case it's a spoiler.
