I've loved the parody music videos and other works of Ryan James Yezak so I'm very tempted by this. I'll have a look and see what I can pledge for this one.

just saw this on my Facebook feed, glad it was posted here too (was gonna do it myself if it hadn't been already).

In the last few days, this video has gone viral and the project with it.

3,214 Backers have pledged $132,821 of a $50,000 goal with 49 days to go. Pretty awesome really. I suppose that means the documentary will be made.

While I admire this project and am eager to watch the result, I find his scope to be a bit broad. It's hard to cover every part of the gay rights struggle in one documentary, unless it's 5 hours long.

For those of you who are interested, there are already quite a few good queer history documentaries out there. Two of my favorites are Before Stonewall and After Stonewall. The two films split queer history by one of the biggest defining moments in our history and do a great job of covering a lot of information. Another favorite of mine is Paragraph 175 which is about the struggle of homosexuals in Nazi Germany, which includes first hand interviews with those detained and branding with the pink triangle.

Did you know that after the allies liberated the concentration camps, many of those who wore the pink triangle were imprisoned for another 15 to 20 years because homosexuality was against the law in Germany-even though the law that perpetuated their imprisonment was a Nazi law? There were no laws outlawing homosexuality in Germany prior to the Nazis and there was actually a very thriving and healthy gay community in Germany until the Nazis came to power.

Yes, some were still in prison until the late 60's.

Stonewall Uprising is another really good documentary.
