February 28 2013
Alright Fleetie Darlings... The time is upon us. Time to start planning and coordinating our 4th annual meet-up at the the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention!

It takes place August 8th to the 11th at the Fabulous Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, an off-the-strip luxury Hotel located just North of Ceasar's Palace with regular shuttles to the famous Las Vegas Strip. Rates are reasonable and convention goer's get a special discount for booking with the promo code "SRTREK3." http://www.riolasvegas.com/

For even lower rates you can book a room at the Gold Coast which is right next door to The Rio:

The convention itself is an amazing experience jam-packed with your favorite trek celebrities from across every show and motion picture. You'll see them walking around the hotel all week long. They've got photo-ops with autographed pictures, they've got a huge main hall with Trek celebrity Q&A's and they've got a amazing panels performances and presentations by everyone from the the cast members to the Okudas to the Cryptic Dev's. You'll see Borg, Ferengi, Klignons, Bajorans, Andorians and Starfleet officers walking around and if you've got a costume you better bring it! The massive vendors room features an unbelievable plethora of multi-genre memorabilia that you'd have to scour the internet to find.

With 3 new gay mega clubs opening up in Vegas this year (one at The Rio itself), it's never been a better time for an LGBT Trekkie to let loose and get their Geek on at this awesome even! Check out http://www.gaylv.com/ for more info an all there is to do in the city of sin and check out http://www.orbitz.com/vacations/Lesbian_and_Gay.tGAY-FRIENDLY or Cheaptickets.com for great airfare and hotel bundles for your trip. The Las Vegas Airport code is "LAS."

General admission tickets are not yet for sale on the convention site, only the Captains Chair package which has lots of extra goodies. The closer we get to the convention the more info will be posted. Currently you can see the list of confirmed celebrities.

If your totally up for this or just simply interested or would like to help coordinate please feel free to post on this thread or join the Stonewall Vegas Group here:

Just a quick little bump, we seem to be getting so many new Fleeties lately (Yay! :cheer:)

Here's a shot of actors JG Hertzler and Robert O'riley, a.k.a. Martok and Gowron who surprised everyone at the 2011 convention by appearing in costume and in character. Just one of the many fun times to be had at our annual Fleet Meet-up in Fabulous Las Vegas!

Just a quick bump for an update Fleetie Darlings. In addition to the rather expensive Captians Chair Weekend packages that are still avaiable, Creation has now posted Preferred Weekend packages that give you better seating than general admission plus free access to the Saturday Night Gala Celebration. The price for the preferred weekend package is $329. Cheaper packages will become available the closer we get to August.

This year the Gala Celebration is Star Trek on Broadway (I know gay and geeky!) with musical performances by some of Trek's most talented stars.

So when are general admission tickets supposed to be available? This will be my first Trek convention, and to be honest... I'm not really a Trekkie. I'm more interested it meeting up with Fleeties and hanging out with Stonewallers!

What if anything does the Fleet do during these meetups?

Great question! :cheer: One of the reasons I started this thread was to open the floor to ideas and suggestions and coordinate some fun social activities that we can all participate in.

In years past we've gone clubbing, touring places on the strip like Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and shopping at the premium outlets and Forum shops. We also met for most meals both in the Hotel and tried to find some cool yet affordable places to eat on The Strip like Hash House a Go Go, or we would eat in the hotel. We and the Cryptic devs took over the Irish Pub (that's right, we roll with the devs a lot thanks to certain connections ;) and turned it into party central for the entire convention.

Do we definitely since most convention events are scheduled before 6pm there's a lot we can do and if anyone has suggestions or ideas let's brainstorm. You can post suggestions or links on this thread or in the Vegas Convention Group. We've got some of the old group going this year but we've also got a good number of 1st timers who've expressed an interest I'd love to hear any ideas you may have. :)

so any news on when General Admissions tickets go on sale? I'd hate to miss the chance before it sells out...

Oh trust me, the general admission never sells out. The main convention hall could fit the Saucer section of the Enterprise D inside it. I've never seen it sold out before. I can't remember exactly when general admission weekend packages went on sale but the year before last I bought mine in May. Last year I actually bought the general admission tickets for my BF at the entrance to the convention hall each day since he wasn't sure if he was going to go until the last minute so I didn't have time to pre-order them.

Just a quick little bump with some new info about the convention. The autograph and autograph with photo-op schedules have been released. They are of course subject to change but in my experience most of the celebrities times and dates remain the same leading up to the convention. Photo-ops are great and you actually get a picture with your favorite Star Trek celebrity and then you get an autographed copy of that same photo.

Follow this link and scroll down to where it says "Autographs" for a more detailed run-down:

Here's a pic of Garrett Wang (pronounced "Wong") who is one of the funniest regulars at the conventions. His Captain Janeway impression will have you rolling in the aisles.

Here's a pic from last year with Marina Sirtis up on the main stage. She was actually kinda drunk and it was utterly hilarious.

Anyone want to wear an in-game Admiral's uniform to the convention?

http://cosplaysky.com/star-trek-online-coat-cosplay-costume.html

Cryptic UI Designer, ThomasTheCat brought this really cool cosplay site to my attention. They're custom made to order and as replica costumes go they are quite reasonable in their pricing. I'd definitely get a different belt though. I've emailed them to ask if they do custom colors for the costumes as well.

let me know about custom colors... I'm not that keen on the yellow piping detail... I don't know if I'm even a big enough fan to do any cosplay, but since this is game specific it's much more enticing!

Now if my partner would call off the 'Nerd Alert' I just might get one!

The costume company emailed me back and said that they could do custom colors, there's a box for notes on the online order for so I would specify there what colors I would like.

Creation has posted general admission weekend packages up on there site for $329 for all four days. You can also buy single day admission tickets or single day preferred seating tickets. The prices have been listed, more events added and more stars' appearances and dates added and finalized. I also booked my room today since the flight/hotel rates from LA to Las Vegas (LAX to LAS) on cheaptickets.com went down so I booked while the booking was good.

Seeing as we have so many members I thought I'd give this thread a little bump. Please refer to previous posts on this thread for ticket and hotel information. This will be the 4th consecutive Fleet meet-up at this convention and it truly is a blast. You can also join the Stonewall Vegas group in the group section of this site.

Just a quick bump and update since we've had some new members recently. Every year we have a Fleet meet-up at the annual Creation Star Trek convention in Las Vegas which is next week from Aug 8-11. Please see previous posts on this thread for travel tips and information if you're interested in going.

Creation has finally posted a schedule of events for all four days of the convention:
