I'm still monitoring this as the info comes in, but wow. Sending prayers out, for sure. :(

AP is reporting 2 dead, 22 injured. Hopefully those numbers dosn't rise.

My heart goes out to those in the area...

Thankfully, turns out the JFK incident is, at the moment, apparently unrelated. Of course, details are scarce as law enforcement is still trying to piece together what is going on.

This is pretty insane. While I don't live in Boston, I was there a few weeks ago from PAX East. This bombing happened literally two blocks from the hotel I was in. I walked through that area to board the T and get food. It is surreal to see places that I recognize, now with blood and debris on the sidewalks.

And the worst part is that I know what's going to come of this. There will be scapegoating, there will be anger, and maybe even a little war depending on who is responsible. It's incredibly sad to think this may only be the beginning of the bloodshed.

This is so terrible. I hope there aren't any more bombs but if there are I hope they find them soon before anymore people get hurt. :(

This is just sick... How can people be so horrible. This is a sad day. I really hope they turn up some information somehow as to who set the explosives up.

The entire incident was horrible. The hospitals are even on lockdown now, only letting staff, patients, and police inside, my friends are working there now.

I can't believe how many people were hurt. And it seems not all the bombs were detonated either, they found two last I heard.

It's horrid. The madman/madmen responsible for this need to be found and quickly.

I'm positive they are studying the explosives and how they were made. It's an effective way to narrow down the type of madman responsible.

Words elude me right now. I have dear friends all throughout the area and when I saw the story my stomach sank and my heart stopped. What I felt when I was travelling was completely helpless.

Now that I am home, all I want to see is the person caught and punished for this. Those people at the marathon were innocent and did not deserve to have their lives shattered or lost.

My thoughts are with everyone in the Boston area right now...

Major, Major props to the Boston Police Department and company for their utmost professionalism and courage.

Humbled once more to have grown up in New England.

And in something sadly reminiscent to the post 9/11 panic and resulting patriot act:

http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-711747

A bill passed late last night (93-7 votes) that declares the entire United States of America a battleground. What this means is that the U.S. Military can now operate with impunity, and grant the U.S. Military the unchecked power to arrest, detain, interrogate, and even assassinate United States citizens with impunity.

What this means is the United States is basically declaring war with itself. We need to shed light on this and make sure it does not become a law, otherwise we should just say good bye to the Bill of Rights and everything America used to stand for.

I would like to point out that although the story is posted on cnn.com, there i a small black label that says "NOT VETTED BY CNN". From the gpo.gov website, the purpose reads:

To authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2012 for military
activities of the Department of Defense, for military
construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths
for such fiscal year, and for other purposes.

From what I've been able to scan through on it (government bills will put you to sleep quick) I've not found anything that indicates that the U.S. is about to go to war with itself. While we have to watch the slimeballs in Washington very closely, let's not panic just yet.
