Amazing, amazing news! One less pink ceiling for us to break through. Hopefully he'll get some great endorsements (from what I read Nike guaranteed to endorse any player that came out) and gets a great contract soon. Can't wait to see this happen in the NFL and NHL.

I'm worried that he won't get a new contract because he's an ageing player who's seen his minutes dwindle, and people will accuse the NBA of not giving him a contract because he's come out, rather than because his skills are fading.

For those interested, AllOut has started collecting names to send Jason Collins a big thank you card! You can add your name to the list here: http://www.allout.org/thank-you-jason

I can't say I'm not amused that this story sucked all of the oxygen in the sports news world away from the story of a certain sanctimonious quarterback who was booted from his team today.

If it had been about his views i would agree, but its just that he was not that good under pressure. The less publicity he gets the better.

Thanks for pointing this out! I had to go searching to confirm this, but it made me happy inside!

Are you talking about the NBA or the NFL here?

I think he's referring to Tebow.

Unfortunately, one of our greatest sports allies, the geekilicious Chris Kluwe, was also not picked up, yet. He's saying it's because of his outspoken support of gay rights.
