Trying to get my Razer keyboard to work, help please.

Hello Fleetie darlings!

So my wonderful boyfriend surprised me this weekend with an early B-day present, The Razer Deathstalker Ultimate gaming keyboard... such a wonderful man :side:

Unfortunately we haven't been able to get it to work properly. When I first plugged it in (it uses 2 USB ports mind you) I could type on it but the directions advised me to download the drivers which I did. I first had to create a profile on the Razer site which I also did and once the drivers were done downloading and I restarted the computer the keyboard would no longer work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail. :(

I know that some of you also have Razer Keyboards and was wondering if you had any tips or tricks I could try to get it working again? Thanks in advance :)

Wow, nice keyboard, Jason! You're one lucky guy!!

I've never had a Razer keyboard, however, my mouse is a Razer and I've never encountered any problems. The only small suggestion I can make, is to ensure that the keyboard is connected to the USB outlets in the back of the tower, which are actually connected to the motherboard. In the past, I've had issues connecting peripherals to the USB ports out front, as they seem to carry a little less power than the ones in the back, on my tower, at least.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!

Thanks Dave!

Both USB's are plugged in the back of the tower and the ports are both 2.0's. I also have a Naga Razer mouse and it's never given me any trouble. In fact the driver program does recognize the mouse as a related product but it doesn't seem to want to recognize the keyboard. I guess I'll have to wake up early tomorrow and call their customer service line since they close by the time I get home. There's a couple more tricks I'm going to try tonight though as I'm itching to take this baby for a ride.

I just can't resist...

Did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in again? :)

Also i heard sometimes that having USB prehiperals in the slots alongside can cause power drains that screw up powerhungry devices. So try unplugging anything to the side of it to, doesnt hurt to check.

I didn't try that. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling them but I'll try that when I get home.

I've also never experienced any power drain issues with the back ports all full and this is my 2nd Razer keyboard and I have a pretty good power supply installed. I think it may just be a software issue.

Well I spoke to their overseas tech support who were actually helpful. They sent me some updated firmware which I will try installing when I get home but they also had me perform a test to determine whether or not the keyboard was actually defective.

They wanted me to use it on another computer but I just had my laptop so I had my BF take the keyboard to work with him and dry to plug it in on his work computer and it still didn't even power up or register on the desktop so more than likely it just needs to be replaced which they said they would happily do.

I'm glad for the quick and easy resolution but disappointed because I've usually had such good experiences with my Razer products. Ohh well :)
