I will say that this song surprised me a little bit. It's a bit more Gaga meets rock as opposed to her more strict identification with electronica/dance.

And as expected, love the song -- just like everything else she's done.

I'm usually so far behind on this stuff, but my bf was just telling me about this song as we drove to lunch, and then it came on the radio. I asked him when Madonna's new album is coming out. :)

The song is the most blatant attempt at creating a gay anthem ever. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. On the one hand, it's nice to be pandered to. On the other, it seems kind of crass. Or it would, coming from anyone else. But I guess she earned her gay following the old fashioned way, even if she didn't get her start playing the bath houses of New York.

I love Lady Gaga, and honestly this song, but I feel torn, because I love Madonna's "Express Yourself" too...and I feel like it was completely ripped off.

I love this song a lot. Yeah, the melody sounds a lot like "Express Yourself" at first, but Gaga definitely puts her own stamp on it. Plus, in a rather ironic twist, this song is way, way more about expressing one's true self than Madonna's song ever was. I know that this is going to piss off a lot of Madonna fans, but I wouldn't call "Born This Way" a rip-off of "Express Yourself"; I'd call it a fucking upgrade.

Cannot wait for the new album. I think people expecting more of the same are going to be disappointed, but I think expecting that from Gaga is a fool's errand to begin with. :D

I love this song too. I don't think she's pandering to us, Gaga truly does love and value her gay fans and she's well aware that we are her first and strongest fan base. I can't recall any other music artists dedictating a MTV VMA award to us (let alone their first one). When I listen to it I really don't think its a lot like express yourself at all. Maybe a little bit but it's definitely its own song. A lot of my gay friends IRW hate on her a lot but I think they're just being catty and contrary because its in their nature (or at least they think it is :P )

Its a pretty good song, but I still like Love Game better....mabye it ties for second with Bad Romance.

And as much as I love gaga I cant help but think that with alot of her outfits that she wears that she is a Romulan Infiltrator...

I think it is brilliant. When was the last time "transgender" was used in a mainstream song, let alone one with such a powerful and beautiful message about self-love and self respect?

I can't say I'm one of her fanatic devotee's, but this song has defintely given me a deep and true love for her. For the first time since Madonna started pushing for HIV awareness, I feel like we have a new champion. Gaga will change the world, if she hasn't already.

Honestly, I don't really care for the song. Of her's, it's probably one of my least favorite. I never really cared for "Express Yourself" either though.

I'm not entirely sure what the hell I just saw in that video, but I know that I thought it was fucking AWESOME! I really hope this means the videos from the album will be in this vein of b-budget 80's sci-fi whackiness.

Also, I can't figure out if this video is NSFW. On the one hand, she's giving birth in the video, but on the other hand it's so fucking abstract that it's not really obvious.

The Video is different, but hey, if Madonna can get away with the video for 'Like a prayer' then Lady Gaga can get away with this! I like her, not because of her music, but because she is not scared :evil: of doin something out of this world!

And in the video if you notice the part where she is just about to start doin her dance part in the video she looks like Cher!! Just a bit!

i don't love Lady Gaga like I love Madonna (but then I am a child of the 80's), but this video is both trippy and catchy at the same time. I approve! lol

Umm ok... that was creepy beyond all reason. I actually like it reminds me of a creation myth, or an epic poem. The birth has a 'Gaia' feel to it.

After watching the video again, I realized something really cool about the beginning. That constellation she refers to as the Government-Owned Alien Territory, or GOAT, that looks like a goat, also looks like a uterus. It just adds to the whole birth imagery. A friend of mine also told me that goats' heads are symbols of evil.

There's a lot more to this video than meets the eye, which is one reason I love the stuff she does. There's layers in the stuff Gaga does which make for far more intelligent and interesting stuff than other pop stars.
