Terra Nova

Is anyone else watching Terra Nova? I'm loving the show.

The plot is a bit simple and there's not a lot of subtext, but that makes the show very easy to watch. The entire show is very hopeful, which provides a nice contrast to shows like Falling Skies or The Walking Dead.

If you watched the most recent episodes, there were a couple Star Trek lines that made me lol. One being when the wife said, "Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a Chemist." and when they limited the number of suspects down to 47. :P

I'm a fan of Terra Nova, as well. :) The plot is good, but simple, as you said; sometimes predictable, sometimes deceptively so.

I did catch the Star Trek references, I loved it. :)

Mostly I love the DINOSAURS (RAAAR! LOVE DINOS! :3 ), but I also love that, even in an overarching story line, the primary plot of an episode can be resolved within the hour. :) I like to end all of my DVR recordings by watching that. (So sick of all these other shows I watch that are nothing but constant cliff hangers.)

I watched them on Hulu because I never get to see them on TV because of timing. I hate the 7 day waiting period...I'm so impatient. I love the show. So far, I like how they've had an episode about just about every major character just to get some personality development behind the people. Something I do really like is that while it's sci fi/fantasy, it's not over the top. I'd like to see a little more depth to the storylines though. So far, it's been a little superficial while they build some momentum behind the gate being bisexual (trying to get it to go both says LOL). The last episode was a little disappointing because of who the colony spy.

I have fun when I get to see it. It's a little far down my list of shows I try to catch in the little time I have to do so, but it's always fun.

As far as Dinosaurs go I find myself watching the new season of Primeval more. Last season was a total thrill ride and this one is just getting better.

Another show I just haven't had a chance to watch that's been DVR'ed. At this point, I'll probably wait till the end of the season to see if it stays around and then watch them this summer.

I started watching because the one-way time portal back to primeval Earth reminded me of Julian May's excellent Saga of Pliocene Exile. This might be one of those shows that's only as good as the villains are bad, so I'm still on the fence but get more interested as they reveal the bigger conspiracy. Plus, the Reynolds actor is pretty easy on the eyes.

Now that was a tale, she is a good good writer.

Yes a great episode.

I loved the episode. It was fantastic. I loved how what most tv shows would've dragged out over 5 seasons they just did and got it over with. There were more climaxes and plot twists in that one episode than most shows have in one season. It was kinda frustrating that everything kinda ended the same way that it started.

I need to catch up! I've only seen the first few episodes, but I've enjoyed it so far. On a related note, Shelley Conn, who plays Dr. Elizabeth Shannon, was in an Indian-Scottish lesbian flick a few years back, "Nina's Heavenly Delights." I saw an interview with Shelley where the host brought that movie up. Her face totally brightened and she gushed about how much fun she had playing a lesbian chef in Glasgow. Given the often tepid statements from straight actors regarding past LGBT roles, it was great to see such a positive response :).

What a load of crap! I really liked this show. Everytime I watch something it gets cancelled. Hope SciFi picks it up or some other network. Reminds me of the show Threshold back in 2005. It was cancelled after like 1 or 2 seasons and was equally good. There just aren't many good scifi shows out there anymore.

Ugh, I'd hate for syfy to pick it up and ruin it. I'll just remember it for the great show that it was instead of have it revived as a nasty zombie by them.

It's not surprising that it was cancelled, though; it was a bit of a niche programme. Too bad it wasn't being made by the BBC, it would only be cancelled in the states and we'd at least be able to catch new episodes like we do with Primeval. :p

Nooooooooooo!! I love this show! It was sooo good without all that crap with constant hang overs, plot points that were never resolved and storylines that actually went somewhere. Why does all the good scifi get cancelled? How on earth can Fringe still be on the air but this gets cancelled? Bleh. I'm really disappointed now.

Because fringe is aimed at... A larger, lower, more common denominator than Terra Nova. I used to like fringe quite a lot, but the plots became too transparent and the characters too inconsistent within themselves, so I dropped it like a bad habit.

Totally. I watched the first couple seasons before realizing this "Sci-fi" show had no basis in reality and was either some form of fantasy or writers who assumed the authors actually knew anything about science.

Terra Nova had a great premise, but just like V reimagined, it fell short for essentially the same reason. It took far too long for the story to get anywhere.

Yeah, suspense is good, but dont drag the audience through lots of filler episodes where little of anything really happens.

It happens alot, weirdly to other shows. BSG was refreshing different in this regard though because they focused more on episodic content, rather than huge story arcs. The latter of which is always risky in TV.
