Galaxy Class Interiors

December 09 2011
To me the Galaxy Class is the pinnacle of not only design but ethos. I've always loved the design, inside out. So mixing my 3d art skills and my love of the ship design I've (slowly) tried to replicate Probert's sketches into 3D art. To bring to life parts of the ship we never saw on screen, and likely never will.

All of these renders were composed by myself and are based on probert's sketches. I understand that perpetual entertainment asked him to do these for STO, but I began rendering these well before I even played STO.

This one I did first of all, still a WIP, but I'm not overly happy about it:

My recent endeavour:

coming along well I hope.

Still a bajillion times better than Cryptic's sad excuse. (Though it does still look quite a bit larger than the canon bridge)

That they didn't also hire Probert on is just ridiculous.

I have explored the possibility of creating a walkaround program in the past, but it would be a huge thing to learn and impliment. =/

But I agree, I'd love to walk around this in-game. It would be breathtaking to really enjoy so many areas of a Galaxy Class ship!

hmm, i'l have to recheck the blueprints. If you look carefully in the image, principally around the Captain's ready room, you'll see some blue lines on the ground. I traced Rick Sternbach's Galaxy Class blueprints (I have them all, digital and on paper), to serve as the base foundation. Either the scale is wrong, or more likely the camera angle.

Thanks for the feedback, I plan on returning and changing it anyway!

Thanks, Jerran! I have alot of other photoshop, 2d and 3d art as well.

I've also delved a little in animation, and seeing as these two are trek related I'll add them:

They're far from perfect, but it helps to keep trying to develop skills.

Creativity is just as important as languages & mathematics. :)

OMG!! These are truly amazing! You did this!??

You're a true artist with some really special talent.

(I love the blue glow from the warp engines in your animations, the way it reflects on the hull of the ship is really cool)

Progress of the Galaxy Class Computer Core area:

Completely red-did the corridors from scratch and added some basic textures to add more realism to the project thus far. :D

Without further adue:

Modelling of the corridors is almost completed. Lighting has been tweaked, doors added. Observation areas have been remodelled and given supports. :D
