Next December? Really? They're gonna start advertising it a year before it comes out?

I always think you can guess the budget of a film by when they start advertising. This has a flippin' huge budget so a year is about right :)

Trailer looks amazing! I wasn't actually expecting the film as early as December. I got far too excited when I heard Gollum :)

As I recall... ten years ago almost to the day, when Fellowship of the Ring premiered... PJ would always generate buzz a year out before release. For a solid four years or so... there would always be a LOTR movie to look forward to in some form (from the first movie theatrical release, to the sequels, then to the extended versions of each).

The release plan for these two Hobbit movies is December 2012 and Dec 2013... so until at least 2015 (when extended versions of each are finally released), expect to see this kind of teasing. I for one LOVE it. I am more excited for The Hobbit series than any other movies ever.

Saw the trailer this morning and it got me excited. I have to wonder how they will handle some of the elements of the book though, because if you've read The Hobbit you know it is an entirely different animal than The Lord of the Rings. If you've only seen The Hobbit cartoon from the 70's then you don't know about the talking animals that wash dishes for Beorn the skin-changer.

I never thought of dwarves as sexy before. Then I saw a brief flash of Being Human's Aiden Turner as a dwarf. I swear, that man could make clown drag sexy. (And, no, that's not a challenge, for all you Photoshoppers out there.) :silly:

I believe you mean Aidan Turner that played on the BBC version of Being Human and not Aiden Turner that played on All My Children.

I had the same thought! There were a couple of sexy dwarves in there. I'm kind of excited to see Lee Pace as Thranduil too (Legolas' dad).

Oh, I didn't even recognize him! My partner and I loved Pushing Daisies.

(Um, that's the American version of Pushing Daisies, not to be confused with All My Children.) :)

It's so sad that Bryan Fuller's shows never last as long as they should. He created Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls. Wonderfalls really didn't get the run it should have, it was so good! :(

I forgot Richard Armitage is in this too as Thorin Oakenshield! You guys can keep Aidan Turner, but Richard is all mine!! :woohoo:
