Now on a serious note ... (a floridian's perspective)

So going to vote i see they are using scantron machines this presidential election. We have gone from the punch ballots which we had for decades then freaked out about in the 2000 election .. then paid money for the electric machines and now have gone back to paper and pen for scantron, a system which as a programmer I worked with in doing statistical analysis. Scantron is very prone to misreading documents based on alignment and calibraton issues. I know this first hand. Secondly while I was at my precinct .. folks were marking X on their ballots instead of filling things in completely.

No matter the outcome of this election .. again florida voting is backwards yet again, tons of votes are not going to be counted correctly. Why is there not a preview screen of what was scanned in so you can verify what you just voted for or against? (I mentioned this to the IT guy at my precinct and he said he was just saying the same thing last night, but if I wanted to come by at the end of voting he would show me the machine and results etc .. LOL)

Again it amazes me that we have gone backwards in technology to scantron from the 70's and those standardized tests you took as a kid ... Whomever the supervisor of elections is for florida and or hillsbourough county should be fired for allowing us to go to this ancient and unreliable way of voting.

Now on a national level .. read through the comments of partisinship and possible reports of a voting scandal, and an already filed lawsuit and read this perhaps possible programmers perhaps legitimate video .. which may or may not be real ...

Yes, YAY for Maryland and Maine. We've FINALLY won via the ballot box! :woohoo: Washington State is still too close to call apparently as they are still counting mail-in ballots. They are still expecting to win there as well though. Here's crossing everything I own in the hopes it wins there too! ;)

The Washington Ballot measure to approve same-sex marriage passed with 52.3% of the vote! And in Minnesota a proposed amendment to the states constitution banning same-sex marriage was voted down!

That was a historic night for LGBT Americans. It was the first time ever that same-sex marriages won at the ballot box and paints a wonderful picture for the future. Public opinion is swaying and gay rights aren't the hot button issue they use to be.
