I did really like the movie. In response to your nitpicks, Jacien, here's some of my own.

I have to say I liked the film for the action romp. I had some problems that others mentioned as well, and was trying to figure out...

Android on the bridge?
Klingon spelling
Beaming problems

I half expected to see a new Enterprise as well.

Startrek.com has had a couple of articles this week about the actor who played the science officer. He's cybernetically augmented, but not an android. The actor was miffed that they didn't let him wear tighter shirts to show off his physique.

My overall opinion of Into Darkness is pretty much neutral. While I have to say that I liked it as much as the 2009 film, at the same time I was not surprise by the storyline.

So overall, I have to be neutral and say that I like it for it's action and it's nods to the previous films, but at the same time because of those nods, that the storyline is overall a repeat of what was seen before.

Overall: An Average 3 out of 5 stars.

I hated the first one with a passion, and mistakenly I saw it alone. Big mistake. I was so enraged during the film that I kept ordering bourbon and cokes and got drunk and had to take a cab home, further enraging me. When Vulcan blew up, I went catholic mexican widow and had an "AYE DIOS MIO POR QUE" moment.

With the second movie, I just tossed all hope of it being good into the toilet and flushed. I also went with a group of friends and we all mercilessly made fun of its stupidity, which made the experience 'fun'. That said, I hated the second movie.

Why? plot holes. And we are not talking tiny ass ant holes by the sidewalk that you have to nitpick look for. I am talking city blocks just falling into the ground. The "writers" cared nothing for continuity or intelligence, even in their own script! Forget canon (oh wait, they did), make your damn plot fit within itself!

Hopefully since JJ Abrams wont make any money off merchandising he will just go away to Star Wars land, where science is irrelevant and he can make his cowboys in space lens flare adventures. And maybe, just maybe, a real director will come along, hire someone who can write a script worth a damn, and actually make a Star Trek movie.
