Interlude II: A Star in the Sky

--------------------
*Remember our trip?*
*You took me to the Opal Sea…*
*Staring at our reflection in the water,*
*I was at my happiest, Imzadi…*

--------------------

Log Entry: Captain Talons, Rider; Supplemental.

*The Captain can be seen with his head resting in his hands. Lifting his head he looks into the recording device.*

We’ve managed to eliminate the Borg threat near the transwarp conduit. We’ve recovered Commander Reaver and have placed him in sick bay. The implants are being removed swiftly and cautiously by our Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Reeves. The modified implants are not the Borg norm, so I have given the Doctor Permission to perform minor exploratory surgery in conjuncture with the removals.

We’ve managed to… capture Da’Lexian. I would say that we’ve ‘rescued Narciso’ but… This is a difficult issue. I've placed Narciso in science lab one, under constant surveillance and extreme security. The changes made to Narciso’s body and mentality is extreme.

Currently we are on route to the Stonewall Fleet’s Starbase. All the ships involved in this mission have taken heavy damages. The U.S.S. Gran Pulse had to be towed until its warp-drive could be repaired.

On a personal note, I have a bad feeling.

Talons out.

--------------------

Log Entry: Lieutenant Geroff, Marietta; Supplemental.

*The blurry figure of a woman can be seen lifting a large wrench-like tool into a batting stance. The figure suddenly swings the bat swiftly and strikes the recording console which lights up as the image quality becomes crystal clear.*

Who knew that physical therapy can be so good for the mind… At least it does for me. I’m not the sensitive type, at least not vocally. There’s an intrepid class starship out there somewhere that can vouch for me. We've got Kenneth and Narciso back. Kenneth is in surgery, I was able to see him before the doctor began the operation. Theo is helping, having inside knowledge since he himself was liberated from the Borg.

*Marietta places her hand over her mouth and looks away, tears begin to form and begin to freefall from her eyes.*

Oh Gods… I wish I hadn’t gone in to see him! The fucking Borg mutilated him! His face, his body… those God dammed implants! I… I can’t let myself think of him like that.

*She wipes the tears from her eyes and looks back into the recorder, her rage subsiding.*

I was going to go see Narciso, the Captain warned me not to do so. I’m going to listen to him this time. Seeing Kenneth like that… I can’t see Narciso, I would die… It’s not right having family taken from you like that… I’m done. I’m getting too emotional.

*Marietta reaches down and hastily lifts up the wrench-like tool again, seeming ready to strike the console again. Surprisingly she just uses her free hand and turns off the recording device by pushing a button.*

--------------------------------

Log Entry: Ensign Demark, Christina; Supplemental.

*A pretty face appears on the screen, her eyes hastily reading up all the data on the various pads scattered on the desk before her. She speaks without looking.*

I’ve been asked to assist on the operation that is going to be performed on Dr. Heliree. But his condition is extremely different from that of regular drones. There’s very limited information on this and waaaay too many differences. The closest we have is the data on Captain Picard all those years ago. But even then, it was different. Captain Picard was taken into the Borg Collective. Dr. Heliree was, however, made into a Borg “Queen” in all aspects. From what we could gather, these Borg were, for some reason, separated permanently from the collective. They needed someone who was capable of keeping order of everything –EVERYTHING- that happens. Anyways, Commander Reaver’s case is similar enough to Captain Picard’s that Doctor Reeves ordered the surgery immediately. Anyways, I want to get all the information i can to help Dr. Heliree's surgery be successful. He's not just another star in the sky.

*Chrissy tosses her current datapad and takes another. The recording cuts off after minutes only having Chrissy studying in silence.*

Part XIII: Ubi Animae Errare.

*Why do you resist?*
*Why do you cling to this false hope?*
*I shall be your liberator, free you from this…*
*I shall be your sweet Death…

- Eta Eridani Sector Block, Near Stonewall Fleet Starbase: Within the Pallas Helena. -

“Theodor, hand me the osteoregenerator.” Doctor Reeves called out quickly as his hands continued to operate on the patient laying on the biobed before him.

“Here, Doctor.” Theo called out as he handed the medical instrument over. Having done so he returned his attention to the Borg implants within the tray before him. He was cataloging the various ones, trying to learn as much as he could about the modifications for later use and adaptation.

“Theo, this should be the last implant.” The Doctor spoke as he grasped the mechanical device and handed it to Theodor. He then began to use the osteoregenerator on the site where the Borg device was implemented. Once done, he switched to using an autosuture on the site, pulling the large open closed and healing it slowly.

Theodor took the tray full of implants, having done his preliminary cataloging and handed it to one of the nurses, giving them very specific orders on how to keep them safe and secure. He then returned to the biobed and placed a hand on the panel, checking his vital signs. “Doctor Reeves, are you finished?”

“Yes, yes. All the implants have been removed. The nanites are still being purged from his bloodstream. They are rather persistent, though they will be completely gone within the hour. We’ll run continuous scans to monitor the remaining nanites and make sure they don’t try to grow new implants.”

“The compound I provided you with should prevent them from doing so, Doctor.”

“I know Theo, it’s a precaution.”

“Understood Doctor.”

“Sickbay to the bridge, Rider?”

The captain was reading a report on the damages that had already been repaired, and shaking his head at the amount that still needed to be done. “I’m here Vincent. How is our Commander?”

“The surgery was successful. We’re wrapping it up and purging out the lingering nanites.”

“How long until he’s awake?”

“He can be awoken now, but I would have you let him sleep.”

“Recommendation taken, keep an eye on him Vincent, and good job.”

“Thanks. Sickbay out.” The Doctor moved beside Theo and placed a hand on his shoulder. “That’s one down. One to go. Let’s learn all we can from those modified implants.” The Doctor reached up and pulled his surgical hood off. Theo mirrored his actions, beads of sweat rolled down from his hairline and passed over the small implant he still had, placed on top of his left eyebrow. He followed the Doctor out, giving Reaver a final look over.

“Captain, we’ve reached the fleet starbase.”

“Good Hal. Put us in dry dock. Have the other ships dock within the starbase for immediate repairs.”

“Captain, why not dock with the other ships? We need serious repairs too.”

“No. I won’t risk docking there. We still have a dangerous captive onboard.”

“Sir… with all due respect…”

“I know. Doctor Heliree shouldn’t be considered such.”

“Surely we can handle this. We can prevent him from assimilating others.”

“Yes we can… But it’s not the assimilation threat that we need to keep an eye on… Hal, you have the Bridge. I am going to report everything to the Admiral.”

“Roger that Captain.”

The Captain stood from the command chair and walked towards the transport pad situated in the rear of the bridge. “Vincent, come in.”

“I’m here.”

“We’re transporting to the starbase. You ready?”

“Yes. As long as you don’t need an official report now.”

“Screw the official report. Let’s go.”

“Good.”

The transport beam took the captain and he immediately rematerialized within a conference room in the gigantic starbase. Sitting at the table was Admiral Swinford with Captains Rasilek, Mandrake, and Twenty Four. They looked to Talons as the doctor rematerialized beside him. The two took their seats as the admiral spoke.

“I’ve looked at the damage reports from all ships. I can imagine the Hell you and your crews have gone through. We’ve dispatched our repair crews to all vessels. The Gran Pulse is going to need a complete overhaul of her systems. Considering what she’s been through it is by some grace that her structure is still intact. She’s going to take the longest to repair, but we’ll make sure she’s taken care off. Now,” The Admiral looked directly to Talons, “tell me what is the situation on your ship.”

“We’ve put ourselves in the drydocks as a precaution. We’ve started on repairs, but will require assistance.”

“Of course. And your crewmembers? You reported that you rescued them?”

“Yes Admiral. We’ve recovered both Commander Reaver and Counselor Heliree. Doctor Reeves here will better explain their conditions. Doctor?”

“Yes. We have performed the operation on Commander Reaver. We’ve managed to identify and remove the Borg implants, even though they were highly modified. We’ve cataloged them and are now in the process of studying the modifications in hopes of learning something we can use. Commander Reaver himself is now resting and expected to make a full recovery.”

“And Counselor Heliree?”

“It has become complicated with him.” The Doctor began but was cut off by Talons.

“Heliree is being held aboard the Pallas Helena under maximum security. He is restrained and currently sedated.”

“Explain this Talons. Why is he not being treated as the commander was?”

“Counselor Heliree has become Da’Lexian of the Borg. He has been extensively modified, even for Borg standards.”

“Even then, returning him to normal is possible, is it not?”

“Yes, we believe it is. But there are a few unexpected variables that have come up. During the rescue attempt we were forced to engage in hand to hand combat. Da’Lexian was beyond our ability to fight, but something unexpected happen. He showed obvious signs of psionic ability.”

“Psionic? Heliree is of Betazoid-Vulcan mix. How is this possible.”

“We believe this is due to the modified implants he has within him. It somehow took his natural telepathic ability and magnified it exponentially. We are hypothesizing that this was done to increase his ability to process the massive data of the Borg and keep order. But for all we know the psionic ability is a side effect. We just do not know.”

“What is the extent of his power?”

“As we were fighting, he had a psionic episode. I could swear that if he had not gotten himself back in control, the Queen’s Diamond would have collapsed onto itself.”

“Back into control? His mind must be pressed to its limit. And this psionic potential… It is troubling. You were smart to place yourself in drydock and to sedate him.”

“We hope to have a better understanding of the modified technology and to perform the operation before he awakens. His immune system is eating the sedatives. It won’t be long until they have no effect at all.”

“We must do our best Captains… This development is troubling.” Admiral Swinford spoke as he glanced down at his hands…

----------

Da’Lexian's mind was in a state of flux as he dreamed. Every terror he had ever experienced as an individual had come forward and began to drown him in a sea of horrors. He dreamt himself back on Betazed, when the Dominion had invaded. How they were trapped inside of a large city, running for their lives through the tall and thin structure beams of the buildings with weapon fire from the Jem'Hadar at their heels every step of the way. How he, a child, was being pulled along by the guiding hand of a young woman, refusing to allow him to fall behind. She would turn around and pick him up when he tripped, seeing the monsters coming closer and closer. How the two of them had gotten split off from the main group, as it was assaulted by an ambush instantly killing those who were running in the front. They made their way, running faster than they knew possible, towards the mouth of a cave just outside the city. Every single step was remembered by Narciso as he dreamed every single pain returned to his body. He could feel the blood running down his leg from the cut he received running through the ruins of a house. Then finally, how they ran inside the mossy rocks, how the young woman had stopped, shoving the small boy far inside as the Jem'Hadar grabbed at her, tearing not only her clothes but the delicate flesh beneath. How her screams filled his ears, how she kept telling him to run. How he himself killed her... The rocks collapsing down on the horrid Jem'Hadar, and atop Sarahi. No longer hearing her screams, no longer seeing anything as the darkness filled the cave and engulfed him… only the dark and the loneliness…

Purple eyes appeared as pale eyelids opened to a slit, no sign of the traumatic dream evident. Unable to even move his head a mere micrometer to any side, he simply glazed out ahead of him. He took all the memories that came back as he dreamt and he locked them away. A sick smile appeared on his dark lips. “Opportunity...”

-----------

Valla Arin continued his pacing within the ‘quest quarters’ provided to him by the ‘generous’ crew of the Pallas Helena. He only stopped when he looked out of the windows and noticed that the large vessel was being placed in drydock. He walked towards the view and climbed onto the couch, standing on his knees. A huge smile appeared on his face as he recognized his location: The Stonewall Fleet Starbase. This meant that he was extremely close to the Federation/Klingon boarder. Valla turned around and allowed himself to fall onto the couch and sit on his rear. He crossed his arms and began thinking deeply into a way of signaling for his sister. At this point he just wanted to go home, after everything that has happened since he got captured and kept in custody on board the Pallas Helena.

As Valla lost himself in thought, a voice came into his mind. “Arin… Valla… Arin… The panel…” Valla froze and looked around the quarters, not finding a source for the voice. He stood up and looked towards the replicator, the only panel he could see. The voice continued to speak, urging him towards the panel. “Go on… Phaser… Replicate… Override: Alpha… Zeta-Upsilon… Two Four Six…” The slim Orion raised his hand and touched the console, inputting the security override code. “One, Standard Issue Phaser.” He spoke out softly and was rewarded with the replicator coming to life and materializing the simple weapon. Shock in his eyes as he grasped the weapon and pulled it out. He could not believe that the code work, believing that he was merely hearing things.

With the weapon in hand, Valla Arin turned and began to walk towards the door. The voice turned, this time he experienced a slight headache as it spoke to him. “They come… Science Lab One… Send… Message… Stonewall… Open… Glory… Be won… Beatrix… Lead assault…” Valla clasped his hand onto his head in recoil to the pain, which only broke off as the voice stopped. Composing himself he hid the phaser behind his back. He touched the door panel and rang the bell. A security officer unlocked the door and opened it, asking Valla what he wanted. The Orion just looked at the Vulcan and the hall behind him. It was empty and he had no assistant with him. “I just wanted to let you know: We could have had the best sex together.” Valla gave a frown and quickly aimed the phaser he was hiding and fired a beam directly into the officers’ chest, causing him to fall straight down onto the floor. Valla acted quickly pulled the body inside the quarters, then left out the door before they locked. He looked at the phaser, and read that it was set to stun. “Damn… I forgot to set it to kill that fucking Vulcan…” He tucked the phaser away inside his clothing and ran down the hall, keeping an eye out for crewmembers.

The young Orion ran in through the doors labeled ‘Science Lab One’, and froze as he saw the other prisoner that was being held onboard. The purple eyes stared at him in stillness, a terrifying gaze that prevented the young man from moving. Those evil eyes moved slowly to the side and placed their sights upon a nearby console. The voice penetrated Valla Arin’s mind, shattering it as it spoke. “Use it… Message… NOW…” A fear entered into Valla’s body and lingered in full intensity, preventing him from moving at all. The eyes shot back and stared into Valla’s, an extreme pain causing the Orion to fall to his knees and scream as he clutched his head with both hands. He curled up entirely, his head beside his knees, his face rubbing against the floor. His saliva and tears creating small pools as he gasped for air through the torture. “I said now.” The voice spoke, and when finished the pain disappeared letting Valla sprawl out on the floor in relief. Wiping the tears from his bloodshot eyes and the spit from his chin, Valla stood up and walked weakly to the console He input the message and sent it to his sister. Having finished he collapsed onto the floor. The only reaction was a sick smile reappearing on those dark hued lips…

- Eta Eridani Sector Block, Archanis Sector, Near Otha System. -

A lone Orion Brigand Cruiser drifts through space, in orbit of the class-M planet itself. On the bridge’s viewscreen, images of the ground are being shown as though they are being evaluated. On the command chair sits a gorgeous woman, even for Orion standards. The Captain of the cruiser, It can be seen that she does not follow certain regulations. She stands from her seat, the vast majority of her body is uncovered, having chosen not to wear Klingon clothing befitting her position and instead wear her species attire. The silver metal reflected the dim orange lights of her bridge, her crown a transparent gem shinning with a red hue. A Large black lock of hair falls over her hazel eye, only to be brushed aside by a slow moving hand. It is apparent that she is not well rested. She walks until she reaches a console, leaning on it as soon as it is within range. She reads the information that is provided, regarding the remnants of the Borg Technology that taints the surface of the dead planet. She could not care less.

A person comes running onto the bridge, an Orion Male. He is larger than their norm and unlike the norm, does not have metal plates implanted into his body. He enters and runs to the worn out beauty’s side, placing a hand on her shoulder he speaks, breaking the silence of the empty bridge. “Mistress… You must read this.”

She tilts her head back, letting her hair fall downwards into cascading curls. She turns her face just enough to look at him and speaks with a weak and melancholy voice. “I care not… Send all discoveries concerning the Borg technology to the Klingon PetaQs on their filthy home world. Maybe if they can remove their cranial ridges from their asses long enough, they might be able to learn something.”

“No Mistress…” The Orion male looks over his shoulders as she speaks, seemingly to make sure no Klingon officers were there in the empty space, hidden. “This is not about that. We’ve received an encoded message.”

“You still have not attained my interest.”

“Mistress… It is from your brother.”

A fire suddenly appears within her eyes as she stares upon her crewman. “Speak quickly.” She orders as she turns around completely and draws in closer to him.

“He has given us his location. A Federation Fleet Starbase. Stonewall Fleet.”

“I know this Starbase. The Klingons have been attempting to raid it over the past months. Unsuccessfully.” A look of rage appears on her face. Her brother is nearby, but it would be impossible to rescue him in such a strong enemy location.

“True. Yet he has given information. He says this fleet has had a major engagement with the Borg. He claims that they have taken massive damage and are vulnerable to an attack.”

The beauty grasps the Orion male’s massive bicep and places it in a vice grip, which does not bother him. “Should this be so… We can attack… And use the battle as camouflage to rescue my brother.”

“Mistress Marianna…”

“I know… they will not simply agree to such a thing. We may have to act alone and…” She trails off as she speaks, plotting and planning all possibilities.

“Mistress…” A smile appears on the man’s face as he watches Captain Marianna think.

She paces the bridge for a few moments then retakes her command chair. She playfully tosses the thick locks of her hair back behind her smooth shoulders and lets out a laugh. “Awaken the crew! We’re pulling out of this pointlessness! Set a course for the Cursa System! And send this message out on all Klingon frequencies…” The ship suddenly springs to life as the crew moves faster than they have for days and the IKS Lokapāla jumps to a high warp.

--------------------

- Eta Eridani Sector Block, Within Stonewall Fleet Space. -

After an uneventful cruise through space, a Federation Reagent Class Assault Starship drops out of warp at the edge of Stonewall Fleet space, the warp particles dissipating away from the elegant nacelles. Its hull shines with the light of distant stars, the Stonewall insignia bright and proud. The ship continues moving at a moderate impulse speed.

Within the Bridge the crew operates with efficiency that shames the Borg. Their Captain sits in the command chair, reading over ship reports while drinking his favorite beverage. Being told that they had come down from warp, he turns his head and faces his operations officer. “Open a channel to their traffic operations.”

“Channel established. Go ahead Sir.”

“Thank you. Stonewall, this is the U.S.S. Phantom. We are transmitting our entry code and coordinates to you now.”

“U.S.S. Phantom, this is Stonewall Fleet Traffic Control. You are confirmed for entry, welcome back Captain Anderson. We have a spot in drydock in reserve for you.”

“Thank you Traffic Control.”

“Be safe Phantom. Stonewall out.”

“Helmsman, set a course to the Starbase. Then take us into the specified drydock.”

“Roger that Captain. Engaging to warp three, coordinates put in.”

The warp bubble began to form around the U.S.S. Phantom, the particles emanating from the glowing nacelles. As the ship was seconds away from jumping to warp, she shook violently and began to roll to her starboard.

“Report!” Anderson shouted as he grasped his chair to prevent from being tossed to the side.

“Captain! Warp drive is unresponsive!”

“Captain, we took a direct hit on our port-dorsal section! It’s reading as disruptor fire!”

“Sir! We’ve got ships decloaking at our port! I’m reading three Klingon Birds of Prey!”

“I’ve read the reports that they were attacking Stonewall freighters, but to attack us directly… Shields up! Lock onto the enemy and come about!”

“Weapons are hot and ready Captain!”

“Fire at will!” Parker shouted, gesturing towards his tactical officer. The U.S.S. Phantom sped about, regaining her composure and making a break to enter the Fleet Space. Her elite phasers unleashed a deadly red assault of oppressing fire on the grouped up Birds of Prey. The Klingon ships began to scatter about, trying to flank the federation cruiser, chasing after her as she moved away.

“Direct hit to two of the ships, Captain! Minor damage to the third!”

“Captain, they’re encircling us. They’re firing torpedoes!”

The Birds of Prey swarmed around the Federation Assault Cruiser like bees. They kept continuous fire with their disruptor canons, managing to dodge the half of the phaser fire from their large target. Keeping a precise pattern between their ships, the three fired a volley of torpedoes which rocked the U.S.S. Phantom violently, but did not deter her from continuing on.

“Shields holding at ninety one percent!”

“Do not let them fall! Keep firing phasers, focus on one target!”

“Captain, we’ve got more Klingon ships decloaking!”

“What? How many!?”

“Oh Prophets… Captain I’m reading eleven ships decloaking!”

“This is no freighter raid…” Anderson spoke as he saw the vast enemy numbers on his viewscreen.

“Captain we’re completely surrounded!”

“Sir, they’re all firing!”

The U.S.S. Phantom shook as though she was at the epicenter of an eight point two scaled earthquake. Her shields were lit up with the venomous green of the disruptor weaponry used by the enemy. On the bridge, the entire crew were all trying to stand up from being strewn aside from the impacts. Parker had to pull himself back up onto his chair as consoles around him blew out as energy surged. Miraculously no one on the bridge was killed.

“Captain, shields down to thirty seven percent, we’ve got holes in our port shields!”

“Reinforce the shield matrix, I won’t allow them to fail! Send out a distress signal! Someone fire phasers!”

“Aye, aye Sir!”

The U.S.S. Phantom refused to quit. Her shields were reinforced and her beam banks began to work over time. Her Phasers continued to pound away on the small Birds of Prey. With her unforgiving assault, two of the Birds of Prey lost their shields and exploded with warp core breeches. One of the ships exploded directly beside another which took heavy damage, losing a wing and becoming disabled. The victory was short lived as the remaining twelve Klingon vessels became more violent. They continued on wearing down the resilient shields of the federation ship. The situation looked completely hopeless.

“Captain there is a ship coming out of warp! We’re being hailed!”

“On screen!” Anderson called out as he looked up from his arm console. The face that appeared on the screen was a welcomed one.

“Parker! Looks like you could use a hand!” The handsome man spoke with a serious smile.

“Voleron! You’re a welcome sight!”

“Hey Stonewallers take care of their own!”

“The Fleet! We need to alert them!”

“I’ve already sent them a message once I got your distress signal. I’m sure they’ve got both and are sending reinforcements. But we need to hold them here until they arrive!”

“Acknowledged!” Parker felt a renewed determination swell inside him. His eyes narrowed as he planned his next move. “Come about! It’s about time they sampled our torpedoes!”

As the U.S.S. Dies Irae came out of warp she fired a gargantuan volley of gravimetric torpedoes onto the swarm of Klingon ships. The volley was destructive, causing two of the Birds of Prey to explode upon hit. The Dies Irae followed her torpedo volley into the middle of the enemy and began a scatter volley from its specialized Antiproton Dual-Heavy Cannons. This caused the Klingon ships to split up into two smaller groups.

During this, the U.S.S. Phantom came about completely, never ceasing her beam fire. Seeing the Dies Irae separate the enemy and give chase to one of the smaller groups, she took the initiative and sent off her own volley of Quantum Torpedoes. The torpedoes spread out and exploded in a fabulous display, destroying another Bird of Prey, leaving only eight more enemy ships. The U.S.S. Phantom managed to repair most of her shield strength, taking power from her engines, yet keeping strict fire on the remaining Birds of Prey.

Within minutes the Klingons all regrouped, in response the Dies Irae suddenly separated into three segments, launching her multi-attack vector mode. The separated Advanced Escort circled around and came up behind the U.S.S. Phantom. The segments ran the length of the Assault Cruiser and once at her bow, facing the enemy force, all four ships unleashed a final torpedo volley. The Gravimetric and Quantum torpedoes joined in force as they exploded, amplifying the effects of each other. The remaining Klingon Birds of Prey were annihilated.

Viewing the ships explode on his viewscreen; Voleron couldn’t help but let out a smile, still taking their Deaths into his heart with a solemn note. He gestured towards his operations officer and had him hail the U.S.S. Phantom. Once patched through he began to speak.

“Parker, how is your ship? Do you need any assistance?”

“No, we’ve managed to get by with scrapes and bruises. And my ship took a moderate deal of damage. But we’re on our way to the Fleet starbase anyway. We’ll get full repairs there.”

“Alright, We’ll escort you in and…”

“Captain! We’ve got massive readings on long range sensors!” T’Laa, Volerons’ tactical officer cut in.

“Elaborate!”

“I cannot retrieve an accurate reading. Whatever this is, it is massive and it is traveling at warp speed.”

“Track its’ vector! I want to know where it’s going to appear!”

“Tracking sir!”

“Captain, another mass is registering on sensors! It’s smaller but it’s right on us! Warping out to our Starboard side! KLINGONS!” Dedris called out from the science station. “They’re firing!”

“Evasive Maneuvers! Voleron!” Remi called out as volley after volley of torpedoes detonated all around the two federation vessels, engulfing them both within explosions. The ship lurched to the side, causing Remi to lose his footing and fall forward. Voleron acted quickly, kneeling down and catching Remi just before he hit the floor.

“Dammit it!” Voleron shouted as he looked to the viewscreen, seeing the image of Parker and his crew being shaken as well.

“Captain, we’re losing shield integrity!” T’Laa shouted.

“Retreat! Make a break for Stonewall! Parker you hear me!? Retreat!”

“I hear you Voleron! Take us about! Take us to max warp! Set coordinates for Stonewall!” Captain Anderson shouted through the shaking.

“Captain, the warp drive is damaged, it may overload and cause a warp breach!”

“Better than the alternative!”

Both ships came about in haste, even while taking fire they sped off until they could initiate their warp drives. Leaving the mass of Klingons behind, both vessels received a distress signal: ”This is an emergency transmission. Stonewall Fleet Starbase is under attack by the KDF. Repeat: This is an emergency transmission. Stonewall Fleet Starbase is under attack by the KDF. All civilian vessels and freighters are to evacuate Stonewall Space.”

- Eta Eridani Sector Block, Within Stonewall Fleet Starbase. -

Looking out into space from within the hulls of the Stonewall Starbase, one could see the beautiful stars and nebulas in the distance. Crewmen and women walking through the hallways have become accustomed to these sights, having the privilege to be accepted into the Stonewall Fleet. As the daily routine on the Starbase moves on, the sudden appearance of Klingon ships brought it all to an end. Groups of the people gathered and pointed out at the KDF vessels that drew near, inciting confusion. As they drew closer and closer, people backed away from the transparent aluminum windows. Volleys of torpedoes shot out and flew towards the Starbase. The red alert blared loudly warning everyone within. Some of the torpedoes made direct contact with the Starbases’ hull rupturing it. One of the hull breaches took place directly near a group of crewmembers viewing the scene unfold. The air within surged out through the break in the hull, whipping past the people as they desperately grasped at everything they could, even each other. Hands locked together as bodies flew up and were sucked out into space. It lasted only seconds until the emergency force fields were established. All they could do was watch as their friends were killed in the vacuum of space…

Admiral Swinford looked out onto the mass of Klingon Vessels, his eyes narrowing with anger… A single word escaped his lips: "Sarleena..."

- Stonewall Fleet Starbase: Within Central Command. -

Admiral Swinford’s eyes showed a hint of anger as he turned his back to the Klingon ships and faced a large table console. He took a few steps forward until he stood at the table, his fingers typing on the attached monitor. As he did so, a holographic, scaled, display of Stonewall Starbase came to life, emanating from the large table. The display showed all of the base’s tactical data, as well as the Klingon ships. The Drydocks were also shown beside the Shipyard, along with the Communications Array, and the Industrial Fabricator. As seen on the display, the Klingons had come in, in a way that the substations were behind the main Starbase.

The Admiral stood back up and watched the display show another torpedo volley come hurling at the Starbase from the Klingon fleet. Stonewall’s automatic countermeasures activated. Her cannons sent out a scatter volley of rapid fire onto the torpedoes, causing most to detonate prematurely. Her phasers came to life and began to seek out the Klingon ships. Swinford’s eyebrow rose as he saw the Klingon Fleet being to scatter and break their current formation. Smaller groups were trying to encircle the massive Starbase.

The doors to the Central Command room slid open as certain Captains walked in. Their eyes instantly locked onto the display, only giving the Admiral acknowledging glances. It was Captain Mandrake who broke the somber silence.

“Given the current number of the enemy fleet, we can assume that they are expecting reinforcements.” Jacien spoke as he moved closer to the display table, his eyes looking onto the enemy vessels. “I do not even see the proper siege ships.”

“If that is true, then this attack was executed on impulse.” Captain Rasilek spoke as he walked in, stretching his arms out. He seemed to have just awoken from a nap. “It’s not like a Klingon to go to battle without a proper plan.”

“I concur.” Twenty four spoke as he went and stood near Jacien. “Klingons only attack without thinking when their ‘honor’ is being insulted. They must have a plan of attack.”

“If there is a plan, it is not like one that they have executed prior. Look, there are not any Heavy Cruisers. The bulk of their fleet is comprised of various Birds of Prey models.” Jacien spoke, making note of their lack of ‘oomph’.

“Admiral.” Captain K’Tizk spoke up from beside Swinford. “We have not been given the order to launch our ships.”

“You have not.” Spoke Swinford as he stood straight with his arms at his side. “As Captain Mandrake has pointed out, we do not know their strategy. We may have taken some damage from their surprise attack. But with our defenses up, those Birds of Prey are not much threat. And I will not send out ships. For all we know they are waiting for us.”

“A game of Cat and Mouse?” Steven spoke and was given a leer from K’Tzik. “No offense. It’s an old Earth expression.” Arlo faced back towards the screen but his eyes lingered on Steven a while longer.

“Such a strategy is not acceptable standards for Klingons.” Twenty four cut in.

“Well, they must have been given some incentive to attack now, and from the looks of it hastily.” Eyes glanced to the door to see three last Captains enter into the Command Center. The first into the room was the one who spoke, Captain Afakasii. He was followed in by Captains Llandrell and Ruk. They took their places around the display table, all taking in the presented data.

Eurrsk typed onto his panel and brought up display data. On a separate section of the holographic display, two Starfleet vessels were seen traveling at warp speed. The two ships were the USS Phantom and the USS Dies Irae. The long range sensors could make out the moderate damage on each ship. “Both vessels are on route to this Starbase. According to the reports given by Voleron and Parker, they escaped an enemy ambush, but have taken damage. They also give word that they are being pursued by a Klingon fleet.”

“Have these reports been confirmed?” Mandrake asked looking towards Swinford.

“Long range sensors have detected a large mass moving in at warp from their direction. However, our sensors are no longer reading them.” Swinford leaned forward and typed into the console. The holographic display zoomed out and showed the layout of the battlefield. “We already have Birds of Prey at this front. And we have more coming from there as well. Inputting the data from Parker and Voleron, this is the end result.” The display changed with the addition of more ships, a dark red in color. It showed Stonewall Starbase in the center, with the Klingon ships moving in for a pincer attack.

“This implies a two front battle.” Spoke Llandrell. “They want to divide our forces.”

“Or they want to divert our attention.” Said Afekasii.

“Divert our attention from what?” Questioned K’Tzik.

“…Tell me, are there any Orion vessels out there?” Talons asked as he carefully looked at the display.

“No. These are purely Klingon Vessels.” Mandrake spoke as he read the tactical information from his panel.

“Hm…” Talons looked away from the holographic display, his eyes landed on the rooms’ window, the battle outside evident with the eruption of the torpedo volleys being struck by defensive fire. He looked past those explosions, and past the Klingon ships, feeling that there was something on the horizon that was the true danger.

All the Captains had their attention suddenly focused on the Admiral as he brought up their fleet schematics. All their ships were shown in detailed with information regarding their statuses, functions, and specializations. Their locations were also shown; the vast majority of them were docked within the safety of the Starbase, while the others only had the minimal protective covering the drydock. Admiral Swinford gazed around the room quickly, locking eyes with all his men. “Captains, it is time for us to respond. Currently, we are in no danger. Their Birds of Prey cannot penetrate our defenses. However, we can expect proper siege and warships to arrive, and when they do we are going to be sorely outmatched. A message has been sent to Starfleet, however we cannot expect immediate assistance; I’ve asked that they protect the line and civilian vessels.” The Admiral turned slowly and faced towards the windows, gazing out to the proceeding battle. “This is our home. We will defend it and we will do so with pride.” He took a moment and turned back around, hastily inputting information into his console. “This is our strategy…”

–Meanwhile… Stonewall Fleet Drydock: Within Science Lab one of the Pallas Helena. –

Valla’s tortured body slowly began to move as a delicate and deep breath filled his lungs. His body stretched out with hesitation, elongating and straightening himself out from a fetal position. He rolled slightly to his right side, resting his chest on the cold flooring of the lab. The side of his face also now rested on the coldness, sending a chilling factor to awaken. He felt wetness on his face, and seeping in through his shirt. His arms pulled up towards his head. He then planted his hands on the floor, in a push up position. His hands were drenched upon doing so. He attempted to lift himself upwards, but he shook greatly and before success could take root, his muscles gave out and he fell flat again. A taste entered his mouth, one that he didn’t want to recognize: blood. Valla’s blurry vision began to clear, and the wetness he felt was exactly that, blood. His own blood to be specific. He rose his hands and stared at his palms, they were completely smeared with his blood. His hand shook and a weakness came to his body. A dark snicker was heard emanating above him. Raising his head, Valla saw where it came from: Da’Lexian. Those evil, unholy, beautiful purple hazed eyes were staring directly down at him, piercing his mind.

“…Boo.”

Valla reached for the phaser that was dropped by him prior, it was laying just before him. His hand grasped the weapon, and shakingly aimed it at the Borg Prince. The purple eyes just narrowed in response. Valla’s hand was grasped and stilled by an invisible force. Against his will, his hand turned the phaser and aimed it at his own temple. Valla struggled to break his hand free from the force, to no avail. With fear in his eyes, he helplessly stared into those purple voids.

”…Shhhh…”

Valla’s hand tightened around the phaser, only to come to a halt as a red alert began to blare. Da’Lexian’s pale-darkened lips rise into a sick smirk. The phaser was torn away from Valla’s hand, much to his relief. The phaser moved through the air and aimed itself at the restraints encasing Da’Lexian. It fired at them, destroying the material. It then aimed at the holding cell’s main console, firing a single blast. The stasis field holding Da’Lexian was instantly removed. He fell the few feet from his containment space, landing in a kneeling position, his head hung low. His mechanic wings suddenly stretched to their full span of ten feet. They moved fluidly, more so than if they were made of flesh and blood. The Borg Prince lifted his head as he stood up, resting a hand on his hip, he looked down onto Valla. He used his foot and turned to Orion boy over so that he laid on his back, facing up at him.

Valla’s throat was soon grasped by Da’Lexian’s hand. “I had much fun playing with you… Believe me when I say that Narciso would have enjoyed sharing your bed… But the torture I gave you will have to satisfy him for now.” A disturbed smile appeared on his face as panic appeared on Valla’s. “Orions… Such an ancient species… and such a pathetic use of time… Horrible technological advancements. Culturally intriguing… Come, you’ll be my slaveboy… I might need a shield as move through this ship.”

Da’Lexian stood after letting go of Valla’s throat. He began to walk towards the door, stopping only to see Valla have difficulty standing. Disgusted by the slowness, Da’Lexian used his mental prowess and lifted the Orion onto his feet. Valla walked, stumbling slightly and clinging onto his sides, he continued to walk as Da’Lexian walked, keeping himself directly behind him. The pair left the Science Lab, and as they walked on through the corridors, the bulkheads slightly buckled in their wake…

– Eta Eridani Sector Block: Bridge of the Lokapāla -

An Orion Brigand Cruiser is traveling near its maximum warp. Another vessel comes up, traveling at warp. It catches up to the cruiser with ease, and slows to match the speed of the Orion ship. A Klingon Bortasqu' Command Cruiser, her massive size overshadowed the Orion Ship.

Beatrix sat in her command chair, watching the viewscreen as her com officer opened communications to the Klingon cruiser. The face that appeared was that of a strong Klingon female. Her features were surprisingly soft, with smooth-like cranial ridges and a row of straight teeth. She looked directly at Beatrix and smiled. Beatrix returned the smile, softly, not straining herself on a Klingon. “It’s good to see you… be'nI'.”

“And I you, ‘sister’. I am pleased to see you using proper Klingon.”

“Now, now. I am sure you have not come to praise my linguistic skills.”

“Mmph. I have not. Though I must say, I am not surprised to see you still dressed as a seductive Ha'DIbaH.”

“Now, now… We can save the name calling for later. Don’t we have ‘glory’ to win?”

“There is little glory in striking down a wounded enemy. This is, however, a significant victory for the Empire. Taking Stonewall will give us secure footing to lay claims to all of Eta Eridani!”

“It’s seems I’m not the only one to toss away my humanity.”

“PetaQ! You dare try to get in under my skin like poison!? I am Klingon!”

“Klingon… You would murder me? Your own little sister?”

“Instantly! You are no sister of mine!”

“I do not want it either. But human blood tarnishes us both.”

“Hmmm… Speaking of, where is our brother? I do not see him with his mate.”

Beatrix glanced over towards Thelav, the giant Orion male who had given her the news that her brother had been located. She turned back with a slight annoyance on her face. “MY brother is fine.”

“Is he? Good. Would break my… heart if he ever came to harm. It’s a good thing that the Federation does not torture civilian prisoners.”

“What?” Beatrix looked at the screen, rage now evident. She calmed herself as she spoke. “How did you know?”

“You disappoint me Beatrix. Letting our brother fall into enemy hands! You bring dishonor to our family!”

“How dare-” Before Beatrix could finish her sentence the communication was cut off by the Klingon vessel. The beautiful Orion was sitting on the edge of her seat, griping the arms so tightly that her fingers strained. She closed both her hands into fits and slammed them down in synchronization. She screamed a name at the top of her lungs: “SARLEENA!”

The Klingon Bortasqu’ increased its’ warp and quickly left the Lokapāla behind, desperately trying to catch up. Beatrix cursed under her breath briefly and shouted to her helmsman to increase their warp speed to maximum. She refused to let Sarleena arrive first and take Valla Arin away from her. Beatrix looked onto her sensor readings. She was surrounded by a massive Klingon fleet, all Hell bent on reaching Stonewall and conquering their enemies.

- Stonewall Fleet Starbase: Within the Command Center. -

“All Ships, This is Admiral Swinford. You have your orders. Launch immediately.” The Admiral stood alone at the command center’s main strategic display. He turned in time to see the doors open and watch as officers poured into the room and took their various stations. The space came to live as the consoles and equipment powered up. He moved a few steps to his right and gestured towards people as he spoke to them. “Lieutenant, launch our Peregrine Fighters! I want at least four on every Bird of Prey. And don’t forget our Runabouts, send them out as well.”

“Admiral, we also have our Delta Flyers. They are ready for deployment at your orders!”

“Hold those in dock. They’ll be our backups if we need them.”

“Acknowledged sir, giving the order to standby! Admiral, our fleet-ships are departing the starbase. They will engage the enemy within the minute!”

“Alright people. Let’s show them what happens when they dare to attack Stonewall! Bring up tactical control for main weapons. Take aim for all Klingon ships that are targeting our adjacent facilities and give cover fire for the starships leaving dock!”

The Starbase’s main weaponry came online, and was evident as it worked in tandem with the countermeasure weapons. The Klingon ships took note of the launching fighters and shuttles and began to make hit and run attempts on the launch-bays. They were deterred by the sudden assault of focused weapon fire, no longer targeting just their torpedoes. The Peregrine Fighters and the Danube Runabouts were successfully launched and began to chase down their targets, taking the enemy’s focus off of the Starbase alone. They were like angered bees swarming around their hive in frenzy.

Within the Starbase, the fleet starships powered their thrusters and began to move in haste. At the front of the roster was the sleek V.S.S. T'gren, Captained by Eurrsk himself. He was followed by Captain Julian, who rode within the U.S.S. Dutchie. The Vulcan Science Vessel and the Avenger Battle Cruiser made their way out of dock, emerging from the heart of the Starbase in high velocity. The two however, did not even begin firing weapons at the Klingons. Instead, the two entered directly into warp and headed off in the direction of Voleron and Parker…

The rest of the leading starships began to enter the battle field, following in the fast style set by Eurrsk and Julian. The U.S.S. Camelot was the next ship out. This refitted Jem’Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier was completely overhauled and upgraded with Federation technology. Its bulk was intimidating enough, and as it passed the bay doors, she unleashed her specialized Scorpion Fighters and had them stay within close proximity as she began to send out rapid assaults of plasma beam fire. As the U.S.S. Camelot kept moving, the next lead ships appeared from behind her. The U.S.S. Deep Sky and the U.S.S. Eno both shot out behind the Camelot, as magnificent sister spears being thrust towards the enemy. As they flew past the slowing Camelot, both unleashed a violent volley of devastating beam fire. The Eno’s destabilized tetryon tore through the Klingon shields while the Deep Sky’s Phased Plasma weapons dealt disabling damage to the ships it struck. The U.S.S. Caelian and the Gran Pulse followed suit, though both were weary, not having finished their repairs to optimal levels. The Caelian, led by Mandrake, whipped around the Camelot at a high speed. The Vesta came too and slowed to minimal impulse speed as it unleashed a scatter volley with its auxiliary cannons. With its first assault finished, the Caelian unleashed a volley of torpedoes and whipped back around behind the Camelot. The Gran Pulse appeared from under the Camelot and fired its forward Anti-Proton beam arrays. It had targeted the torpedo spread sent out by the Caelian. The result was a massive explosion that forced the Birds of Prey to retreat a few kilometers; the desired effect. Having pushed the enemy back from their front door, the Stonewall Starbase opened all its docking bays and was a sight to behold as starship after starship of all types emerged from within her hulls.

----------

The V.S.S. T’gren and the U.S.S. Dutchie reached the coordinates sent off by Voleron and Parker. As they dropped from warp in the space, they saw how empty it was, with nothing around, not even asteroids. They did however, see something that caused Julian to stand from his command chair. On their viewscreen they could see Voleron and Parker’s starships, fighting alone against a massive amount of Klingon vessels.

“Julian to Eurrsk.” Afekasii hailed the T’gren immediately.

“Ruk here.”

“Are you seeing this? The Klingons must have caught up faster than we estimated!”

“It would seem so. I’ve already sent a message to Stonewall.” Eurrsk looked to his helmsman and ordered that he go in at max impulse. “Shields up. Ready weapons!” Eurrsk called as he looked and saw Parker’s ship take a direct hit. “Create that gravity well!”

The T’gren generated a controlled anomaly, and was surprised when two gravity wells appeared. They came in fast, as the Klingon ships were caught in the gravimetric ebbs. The Dutchie followed in behind her, firing her disruptor cannons with deadly accuracy at the trapped Klingons. The structural stress on their hulls from the gravity wells weakened their defenses. When the cannon fire struck them, their hulls imploded easily and created a sudden cascade of warp-core breaches. Unfortunately, only a fragment of the Klingon ships were disposed of…

----------

As the U.S.S. Camelot unleashed a massive spray with its plasma torpedoes at the remaining Birds of Prey, it was suddenly struck on its port nacelle with a direct disruptor beam, causing it to roll to its side slightly before it could regain control. The attacker suddenly showed itself; a massive Klingon Bortasqu’ Command Cruiser appeared from warp. Its arrival cast a dark gloom on all of Stonewall, which only darkened as the Klingon fleet appeared from warp directly behind it. They instantly outnumbered the Stonewall ships, four to one.

On the bridge of the Bortasqu Cruiser, Sarleena let out a subtle smile and narrowed her eyes as she looked onto her viewscreen. “Hello Nick…” She let out a massive laugh as she saw the state of Stonewall. Calling out in Klingon, she commanded that the fleet attack. Various Klingon ships flew past hers’ as they composed the first wave. “Time for round two, my dear Admiral…”

- Stonewall Fleet Starbase. Immediate Vicinity -

“What is this?”

“What’s happening?”

“There’s a transmission coming through, it’s somewhat distorted.”

“Well, put them through.”

“I think it’s just an automated message.”

“Fascinating! …just play the transmission.”

“This is a- -mergen—transmit----n. Stonewall F---- Sta-ba-e is under ----ck by the --F. Repeat: Th-- is an emergency tra—missi--. Stonewall Fleet ----base is un-er ----ck by the K--. All civilian vess--s --d freig----s are to ev---ate S----wall ---ce”

“I… I can’t understand it.”

“Damn it man, try and clear it up.”

“It’s just an automated message, we-“

“It’s on emergency frequencies. We can’t ignore it.”

“I’ve done what I can; I don’t think the interference’s anything natural.”

“It’s probably being distorted from the source.”

“What makes you say that Maknae?”

“It just had that tone to it.”

“Do we turn around or keep going?”

“Full stop.”

“Aye love. Dropping anchor.”

“Maknae, can you come to the bridge?”

“Yeah, I’ll be right up.”

“Hey, Capt, do ya’ think it’a great idea to jus’ stop like this?”

“I genuinely have no opinion on that.”

“Capt…”

“There’s really nothing for us to use to form an opinion.” The bridge doors opened to reveal a slender and pale young man with double lidded, almond shaped, emerald eyes, which hid under his long and shaggy coal-black hair. He walked slowly towards the communications console, where Hank sat. “Have you been able to compile a full message?”

“Uhh… no?” Hank responded looking at the slim boy’s face with a dumbfounded one of his own. “How the Hell can an’one clean this garb’ge up?”

“Well… It’s like a puzzle. Take the clear words and put them into place, use the computer to extrapolate them and compile them into proper format. The breaks within the transmissions aren’t a perfectly repeating pattern, so we should be able to get all the words.”

“Oh I wish I had thought of that!” An older woman called out from the navigators console with a crackling laughter. “Leave it to my lil’ Maknae to be so cleaver.”

“Noona, please stop embarrassing me…”

“…Never.”

“Please?”

“Sonja…”

“…”

“…Never.” She suddenly broke out laughing hysterically again. The Slim boy could only laugh along.

“There. Right darn there! I Got’cha! HAHA!!”

“I take it you succeeded Hank?”

“Hell yeah Capt!”

“…Then would you kindly replay the damn message!?”

“Oh-AH-Dur… YEAH!” Hank confusingly tapped on the console until his dimwitted self finally found a way to replay the completed message.

“This is an emergency transmission. Stonewall Fleet Starbase is under attack by the KDF. Repeat: This is an emergency transmission. Stonewall Fleet Starbase is under attack by the KDF. All civilian vessels and freighters are to evacuate Stonewall Space…” The transmission continued to play on a loop.

“Well… Shit.”

“Geneviève, don’t swear on my bridge.”

“Sorry Capt.” Vive spoke as she lowered her head and tucked her frizzy red hair behind her ears before returning to the piloting controls.

“This ain’t good Capt.”

“No Shit.”

“Tai’Luc!” Vive called out with a pout.

“Sorry love.” The Captain hung his head low as he got scolded by his wife.

“Uh… Weren’t we deliverin’ cargo to that there Stonewall?” Hank asked.

“Yes, Medical supplies mostly.” The Old woman spoke with a silent undertone that everyone had gotten accustomed to picking up on.

“Noona…”

“They’ll be needing it now.”

“Grandma…”

“I’ve been dying to use the phasers again.”

“Jeong Eun!”

“Oh you punks never let me have fun. You’re supposed to respect your elders!”

“Noona… We can’t just go rushing into a warzone.” The young boy spoke softly, only to have Jeong Eun turn her head slowly and stare at him with her piercing deep hazel eyes.

“Says who?” She asked in a frighteningly calm tone of voice.

“Every piece o’ common sense an’ not ta mention the offici’l transmission f’om a Starfleet command center.” Hank responded while everyone else slowly sunk behind a console for shelter. Out of nowhere a boot flew across the bridge and bashed Hank on the right side of his head. He didn’t even react, but as the slim boy reached out to make sure he was alright, Hank just hunched forward and fell upon his console, his face breaking the impact.

“Tai’Luc! Take us into warp and let’s go help Stonewall!”

“The old lady has a Death wish.” The Captain spoke to the side to his wife.

“What did you say!?”

“Nothing Grandma!”

“Tai’Luc, you know she’ll outlive us all.” Vive laughed to herself.

“The spiteful ones always do. Fine… Besides, I don’t have much love for the Klingons myself. Vive, max warp to Stonewall.”

“I told you before, max warp will tear our freighter apart.”

“Vive… My love, my life, my stars… you’re killing me.”

“Captain, We can do warp 6. We’ll reach Stonewall Space within two hours.”

“Good Maknae. Take over Navigation. Jeong Eun, go ahead and take tactical.”

“HAAAHAAAAAA I’ve already loaded the torpedoes!!”

“Noona… you’re quite frightening sometimes…”

“Sonja… When you reach my age you’ll see that you must do whatever makes you happy. You get to cut through all the other crap.”

“The old lady loves blowing things up.” A second boot suddenly flew from the front of the bridge and smashed into the forehead of the captain, causing him to lurch backwards and grasp his face. Hank burst out laughing and because of that, a third boot was flung through the air and hit him in the same exact spot once more.

“The Hell!? How many boots does the old woman have!?” Hank cried out as he cringed in annoyance.

“…Sorry, that one was mine.”

“Maknae!?!?”

“Aaaahahaha, I’ve taught my sonja well. Warp 6 Geneviève! We need to get my old heart pumping, Haaahahahaha!!!!”

“Maybe we should have had Jun-Cho Eun take tactical my love.”

“Vive… We both know that Grandma would pick that boy up from tactical and toss him across the bridge like a ragdoll.”

“True… that reminds me, Jun-Cho, did you like the one I gave you?”

“The antique? Yes, I placed it on my bed as you recommended.”

“Humans and bed decor… I’ll never understand it.” Tai’Luc spoke as he massaged his nose to sooth away the pain from the boot which had hit him.

“Capt… You married a human.” Hank spoke with a pseudo-stuck-up attitude.

“If you are having second taughts my love, I have a phaser right here.” Vive said as she gently tapped on her hip holster, which housed her old type II phaser.

“Of course not Vive, my love, my life… But you’re humor still escapes me.” The Captain’s glance swapped back and forth from his wife’s face to her phaser.

“Jeong Eun gets me.” His wife spoke as she tossed more of her hair behind her ears.

“You might want to reassess that Vive.”

“Ya’ll talk too much.” Hank finally cut in just before an alarm began to blare.

“Captain, there’s ship coming up to our starboard. They’re matching our speed!”

“Maknae, what kind of ship?”

“It’s a… It’s gone!”

“They cloaked?”

“I believe so.”

“I can find them! Hehehe!”

“Grandma! Do. Not. Touch. Your. Console.”

“…Fine.”

“I think we were just scanned Tai’Luc.”

“They likely got a full registry of our cargo.”

“Oh, it’s not weaponry, so they shouldn’t be interested.”

“We might be in trouble.”

“I don’t think they’re pirates.”

“No, but they got our trajectory.” Jun-Cho spoke, and then turned his head slightly to look at his crewmates, all of whom gave off a hushed ‘shit’ under their breaths. A low boom echoed throughout the freighter, which concurrently shook violently, causing everyone to grip tightly to their consoles to prevent being strewn across the bridge.

“Luc, We’ve fallen out of warp!”

“Damn it! Whoever they are fire at them!”

“They are still cloaked Vive!”

“Haaahahaha, that’s hasn’t stopped me before!”

“Noonaaaa…”

“Haahahaha firing at will!” Jeong Eun smiled as she played on the tactical console gleefully. The freighter suddenly began to fire phasers in arcing succession of degrees. One beam found the hidden hull of the bird of prey. As though having foretold this, Jeong Eun let loose a volley of torpedoes which sprayed the Klingon ship, making it dead in the water.

“Noona…”

“Hush up sonja! One more volley and they’re finished!”

“Noona!”

“Grandma!”

“Unni!”

“Hag!” Hank was suddenly struck by another work boot which caused him to topple over and fall from his console.

“You kids always spoil my fun.”

“Deities woman! You’re supposed to be our resident doctor! Not our gunwoman!”

“Ack, that’s no fun. I’m old enough to branch off into other fields.”

“Unni, I don’t think…”

“Hush child! And shouldn’t you be getting us back into warp? Where’s my boot!?”

“Prophets, she’s more frightening than the Klingons!”

“She keeps us on our toes.”

“She keeps us close to Death.”

“SHE can hear every word you’re saying. 아이고… 이러한 젊은 사람들이 더 많은 존경을 표시 하는 법을 배워야 더 때려서 얻을 필요로 하고 있습니다!”

^(UGH, these young people need to get smacked so as to learn to show some more respect!”)

“Look, we didn’t take any damage. We got lucky. It’s not too late to turn around Luc.”

“No Vive, I think it might be. We’ve got a tail.”

“He’s right; scans are picking up three ships.”

“Oh… ahh… Noona here might have made a little mistake.”

“What happened Grandma?”

“We might already be out of torpedoes…”

“Noona!!”

“Hahaha, I thought I had gotten past the spray and pray tactic a long time ago.”

“Unni…”

“It’s okay phasers are still working.”

“We have them cannons-“

“SHUDDAP!”

“Ho… hohohoho… HOHOHOHOHO… We finally got the cannons…?”

“Noona…”

“I am so sorry ya’ll. I guess aft’r that last ‘counter wit’ Orions, Capt finally ponied up and got mo’ weaponry.”

“I would have gone for better engines.” Vive cut in.

“I would have gone for shields.” Jun-Cho responded.

“I would have gone for earplugs.” Jeong Eun retorted.

“Noona!” Jun-Cho Eun spoke loudly.

“Sonja, you don’t get to scold your elders.”

“Noona…” The slim boy could only shake his head softly in response to her wild nature.

“Aren’t we still being chased?” Tai’Luc asked.

“Yes.” Vive responded.

“How much longer until we reach Stonewall.”

“About an hour.” Jun-Cho calculated from his console.

“Hahaha we might not make it!” Jeong Eun continued to laugh in the face of danger.

“Noona… Honestly, You’re enjoying this far too much.”

“Sorry sonja, it takes me back to my military days.”

“We’ve heard the stories.”

“Noona, that’s still no excuse…”

The freighter continued to push forward, being followed by three birds of prey that, for some reason or another, followed closely and yet did not even attempt to attack the outdated cargo vessel. The distance to their destination was not long, but knowing what was waiting for them and purposely choosing to go there was giving the feeling that time had come to a halt. The crewmembers of the old federation freighter, the ‘Maiden Sari’, were a strange group. A Bajoran Captain, Tai’Luc, along with his human wife, Geneviève. Hank, who has vowed to stay with them after they had saved his life. Old Mangjeol Jeong Eun and her adopted grandson, Mangjeol Jun-Cho Eun whom have, for untold reasons, come to be on the rickety cargo ship. Though with their medical and scientific abilities, they were a very welcome addition to the crew.

-Stonewall Fleet Starbase Space; Aboard the Pallas Helena. -

“Mon Dieu! STOP FIRING AT OUR HULL YOU DAMNED RIDGEHEADS! FIRE BACK RIC!” Marietta was going insane jumping left and right across the bridge’s viewscreen, cursing and throwing her arms up and flailing them about in anger as she witnessed each hit to the drydocks.

“I can’t! We’re still within drydock! The phasers could hit the walls!” Ric responded while trying to aim, target and retarget the Odyssey’s phasers.

“DIEUS, JUST DO SOMETHING! WE’RE EXPOSED!” Marietta retorted in a completely upset-rage-fueled tantrum. She somehow got her hands on a giant wrench used on hull bolts.

“Marietta, just control the defensive turrets remotely!” Cherrosk spoke before the woman could assault her tactical console with said wrench.

“…” Marietta suddenly froze in mid-swing.

“Oh Deities…” Ric whispered as he starred at Marietta wide-eyed.

“COME ON YOU KLINGON BASTARDS!!” She suddenly screamed a warcry as her fingers blurred across the consoles. Instantly the attack pattern of half of the defensive turrets around their drydock intensified.

“She got remote control quick!” Cherrosk spoke, somehow astonished.

“She basically has it on speed dial. Cherrosk, send out the worker bees. Patch up what you can, then we launch!” Talons spoke through the com from the starbase as he walked through the halls hastily.

“Roger that, Talons!” The Chief Engineer sent out the order and within moments the mustard colored worker bees launched from various small hanger doors on both the port and starboard sides. They quickly began to work on the damages to the primary and secondary hulls as Marietta did an amazing job at delivering an adamant offensive-style defensive shielding of them.

“Captain, we just need you on the bridge!”

“I’ll be beaming onboard shortly. Prepare the ship as best as possible, whatever condition she’s in we’ll be launching.”

“Copy that Captain, We’ve got the Pallas Helena prepping as we speak.” Hal spoke as he configured the piloting console in anticipation.

“And Marietta has taken over some of the defense turrets.” Jacob cut in while never ceasing to be amazed by the woman’s aptitude for weaponry.

“That explains the increase in their effectiveness. Ric, take from Marietta’s lead and tap into some of the defensive turrets too. Focus on defending the remaining ships in dry dock. Give them cover until they launch.”

“Understood Captain. Marietta, let’s see who can take out the most birds of prey!” Ric shouted across the bridge.

“You’ll have to catch up mon amour! I’ve already disabled four of them. And three more just blew up!”

“Deities, woman! You also got control of the torpedo platforms!?”

“…Is that a serious question Ric?” Marietta paused for a moment and cocked her head backwards towards her right side to stare at him blankly. Her fingers continued to glide across the console however, never ceasing to move.

An alarm began to sound on the bridge; Cherrosk brought it up on his screen and was entirely confused. Emergency forcefields had suddenly activated in a hull breach on the midlevel decks. They followed a straightforward pattern, not one caused by weapon fire. Confused he tried to bring up the security-view cameras for that specific hallway. Stunned by the sight of imploded bulkheads, Cherrosk was speechless and bewildered. He jumped views from camera to camera, following the path from the start. However the feed cut from the cameras closest to the anomaly. Unable to do anything else, he attempted to quarantine whatever it was, sealing the doors and emergency shutters, even initiating the containment forcefields. It seemed to work, as the implosions ceased to continue. With that problem solved, at least temporarily, he placed a mental bookmark into it and returned to overseeing the workbees repair efforts.

-Odyssey’s Lower Decks, Near Hanger Bay 3.-

As the containment shutters came slamming down and forcefields went up, a mechanical wing did a sharp thrust in towards the bulkhead itself. The sheer force echoed throughout the enclosed space, as the wing was unable to penetrate the alloy composition. It retracted back behind the shoulder blade of its’ owner, who’s hazy purple eyes narrowed in thought. A pale hand reached to the side and griped the soft green shoulder of the weakened Orion, who was practically limping at this point, and looked ready to slip into a coma: ready to collapse hours ago.

The pale hand griped harshly and with unsubtle force threw the Orion against the bulkhead. The wing once again had thrust as a fencing saber, stabbing the wall directly next to the Orion’s head, a mere two inches away. “We… are far too close.” Those hazel eyes darkened and pierced into the Orion’s own, which then dropped glance and stared at the floor. “I…”

“You’re a horrible Borg.” The Orion coughed out, some blood escaping with his jagged breath. “Just assimilate it…”

In response the wing flicked to the side and slapped the Orion on his already bruised cheek. “Do not speak.”

“…”

“Better. Stare all you like. Once my drones come for me, Stonewall will be assimilated. Drawn into the collective. Perfected.” The pale hand gripped the Orion’s chin, gently for the first time, and lifted it so that their eyes met. “So will the KDF foolish enough to attack now. They’ve only made my plan easier.”

“You now have two enemies to fight.” The Orion spit blood onto the beautiful face of the Borg Prince.

Unflinching, and not bothering to wipe the Orion’s blood away from his cheek, Da’Lexian gently patted the Orion’s face, soothingly, intimidatingly. “My drones were already prepared to wipe out Stonewall and take all it has to offer. We were then going to take Sarleena’s fleet… You’ve done me a big favor, bringing your half-sister here. I can kill two birds with one stone.”

“You…”

“Know everything? Yes Valla. I probed your mind remember? You collapsed so meekly onto the lab floor.”

“So intelligent, yet you’re trapped here like a targ.”

“This location shall accommodate my needs.”

“Stuck up Borg-“

“You, however, have served your purpose.” Da’Lexian suddenly gripped Valla Arin’s throat and lifted him with just the strength of his one arm. Valla gripped it in response and began to fight back, however futile it was. “Haha… Resistance is truly futile. Embrace Death, It’s a Beautiful Truth. Life is such a Hideous Lie… Just… let… go…”

Valla stared fearfully into Da’Lexian’s eyes as they suddenly shifted color from that ghastly purple to a soft hued blue. The grip around his neck was suddenly unleashed and he was dropped onto the hard flooring of the hall. As he fell down, so did Da’Lexian who gripped his own head and screamed vehemently. He trashed on the floor, causing dents on the alloy as Valla backed away as much as possible against the wall. The screams continued for a mere moment until Da’Lexian sat up on his knees, the mechanical wings outspread as far as possible, his head tilted back and his mouth gapped open and he shouted a named so loudly that the alloy screeched in resonance, Valla was forced to cover his ears. The name, was ‘Kenneth’…

The battle continued to rage on, however in the distance a soft-glowing yet sickeningly green light could be seen coming closer…
