Lord of the Rings online?

August 26 2013
Begging the Fleet Admirals permission... I was wondering if anyone has, does or is interested in playing LotRo. With the fleet already playing STO, SWtOR, and Neverwinter, and the announcement of the Battle for Helms Deep in LotRo due out in a couple of months, I was thinking maybe to create a Stonewall Guardians in LotRo, as well, for the down time between gaming content in our other games.

If anyone is interested in this idea, and we get the go ahead from the Fleet Admrials, either leave a post here, or contact @Laethan in STO. If you are curious about this game, I will be happy to answer questions about it or Id recommend going to LOTROwiki.com and read up a bit about it. If you do wiki the game, I suggest looking up the mount section, housing and decorations sections, music section, emotes, and festival info, just for a few fun things.

I was always kind of interested in playing this, but never knew anyone else who would. I tried it by myself awhile back... and it seemed cool and all... but I was always so lonely. :P

I wouldn't mind hopping back in to check it out with peoples to talk to! I actually recently reinstalled it since it was looking like I might have found a static group. :)

I think it's a gorgeous game, but, true to its source material, it's designed for group play, and I'm pretty much a solo gamer.

It would seem that we have about 10 people so far who are interested in playing this game. Dax, Myst, Heaf and I are already playing. Currently we are on the Riddermark server. However if it is decided to start a Stonewall guild we will be doing so on Arkenstone. If after reading the wiki about classes and what the game has to offer, id suggest starting a toon on either server, and see what you think. Since the game is free to play, you are out nothing giving it a test drive.

Those that are interested, please post here what class you think you will be playing. That way I can figure out what is missing in the trinity for groups.

I might give it a go and re-roll a character. I'm presently on a different server.

I've started up a Hobbit Minstrel (my favourite to play) and an Elf Champion on Riddermark.

Well, if there is going to be a Stonewall guild, I might give it a try again.
I have tried LotRO a few times, but always got bored after a short while.

It would be great for LOTRO to have a casual LGBT fellowship. The largest LGBT one has a lot of hoops for you to jump through to join--no good for someone who doesn't play all the time. And once you get to about level 14 or so, you really do need a fellowship for the quests.

wow it's been like forever since I've played lol! I'm glad to hear more fleeties/guildies are showing interest! I'm really glad you guys chose Arkenstone, because there's a large LGBT guild there. Unfortunately, the name escapes me since it's been so long. I know quite a few stonewallers played on Arkenstone a while back when I played. :)

Hopefully, I'll bump into you guys in Middle Earth when I log back in! B)
Took me a while to patch everything lol x3

Aye. Arkenstone is the server to create toons on. We have started over here today. It will take 3 months of the Kin to be in service before we qualify for a Kinship House, so we are getting cracking on it today. Add Laetharis, Quellen, or Ronoku to your Friends to get invited.

Awesome! I'll have to start up a character then. :D

Not sure what class to play though... I think lore-master is one I haven't played yet so I might start off trying that out.

Hey Guys this topic came up a few months ago and well, I'll let Nick say it:

Generally speaking, we don't start guilds in games that have already launched and have active glbt guilds. Instead, we try to support the active ones as best we can. I'm pretty sure there are some Stonewall members that play LotRO and are members of glbt guilds, hopefully one of them can direct you to their guild.

I had asked about this already and I had suggested to find out if there are any active glbt guilds on that server just in case. And from what founded there doesn't seem to be an active glbt at that service from what was found.

I think that this particular issue wouldn't be the case from I had heard. But if further concerns regarding this is very important as such then it can be possible to ask around on the server that everyone is starting their characters on to see if there is/were active guilds that are present on that server can be done.

I think further explanation should be provided. I am likely speaking out of turn but I think that I understand some of the complexities that are involved with forming a Stonewall presence in other games.

I can speak with first hand knowledge because I have previously attempted to form a Stonewall presence in two other games that have been released. Long story short, those attempts have not gone well. There are various circumstances. But a big reason is that people simply stopped playing the games, both Stonewall members and people in general. Thus I believe a key to success is critical mass.

Another key is the length of play. Are people going to play for a few months and then stop? Or will there be a sustaining force over time. Because establishing and maintaining a Stonewall presence will require various resources of both people and the site, these are very important questions to answer.

The leadership team will hold discussions to determine feasibility.
