Chapter 1

WHO WE HAVE BECOME NOW

(Captain’s Quarters)
(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Deck 3)
(Stardate: 86921.11)

Slowly stirring in his sleep, after working a 16 hour shift, the studying and analysing of Borg technology always made Michael quiver, terrified even with fear, pain and anguish that comes from a Borg drone injecting it’s assimilation tubules into the victims neck. Ever since his close encounter with the Borg on a planet he visited.
He found it hard to properly sleep, even the medication that Doctor Wilcox had given had helped in the beginning, but after a while of stop taking them, Michael would always found himself lying in bed with his head facing the ceiling.
“If I keep this up, I may start counting Borg sheep and I doubt that would help me sleep”, Michael thought to himself.
Slowing sitting up in his bed, he turns to look out the window nearest to him, he slowly starts to get out of bed to walk over the food replicator in the next room. But he stops near the doorway to the living area and to his right is a set of draws that are near the doorway.
He looks over to his photo of him and his partner. He slowly grabs the photo and places it in his hands, he softly brushes the side of the frame with his right hand while holding the frame with his left hand, the sensation of titanium with sapphire jewels embedded into the framing felt cold and he quickly puts the frame down and resumes to walk over to the food replicator.

Just as his was about to order something to drink, which he wasn’t sure of what he was wanting, just something to ease him to sleep, the door chimed.
He quickly walked back to his room to grab his robe and quickly wraps it around him.
“Come in”, he responses, the doors open sideways with bright lights shining at him obscuring the figure appears. “Michael” the tall figure says, Michael rubbing his eyes whilst still covering his eyes at the same time, replying in response to the tall figure.
“Braydon? Is that you?” Michael’s eyes start to sting from the rubbing. “Computer? Lights low level, please?” Says Michael.
The room slowly brightens up, and the tall figure was Sammy Jays.
“Oh sweetie, you still have a hard time sleeping?” Asks Sammy.
Michael sadden that it wasn’t Braydon.
“Oh, hey Sammy, yeah I am still.” says Michael
Michael slowly walks over to Sammy and gives her a hug to welcome her.
Sammy has been close friend to Michael for a long time. They meet at Starfleet Academy together, Sammy and Michael both shared the same classes for tactical training and hand to hand combat. Sammy was well known for her quick and agile moves on the combat arena. And a majority of the class mate refuse to compete against her. Sammy was a Lieutenant Commander on U.S.S. Olympus, serving as the ship’s security chief and tactical officer.
Michael and Sammy both work on the same shift, but as of lately Michael has been preoccupied with other matters. Sammy was five foot nine, with shoulder length blonde hair and Black eyes, some people would think that that she isn’t as strong as she looks. But once you bring her a challenge, she wouldn’t back down without a fight. Sammy welcomes the cuddle from him.
They cuddle for a few seconds, Michael slowly pulls away and walks over to the couch to his left. Sammy slowly follows Michael and walks over to the replicator.
“Two coffees, White with two Sugars.” says Sammy
Sammy slowly turns around and looks at Michael.
She knows that Michael is thinking about Braydon. She didn’t have to look at him to know what he was thinking. Being a Betazoid has it perks, but a pain when you feel the emotions of every person that serves and lives on the ship.
It can be quite taxing, thankfully before leaving betazed, Betazoids are giving intense training in learning to blocking out people feels and thoughts. But Sammy was born on earth with both of her parent being Betazoids themselves.it was a challenge for Sammy to block out things with people who throw out their thoughts constantly, lucky for both herself and Michael, they had made an agreement in the past, whenever he looks concerned where there are problems going through his mind, he wanted her to be able to approach him and talk to him,
“Did you call me Braydon when I come in?” Asks Sammy
Michael quickly looks up at her, with her quizzical look he knows that the jig was up. Rubbing his hands together, he wasn’t sure how to respond to her.
Sammy turns back to the replicator just as it finishes materializing the two cups of coffee. She grabs the handles of the cups and slowly pivots on one foot and slowly rotates her body into doing a one eighty. She immediately hands Michael’s his cup, and he slowly grabs the base of the cup and waits for Sammy to let go of the cup. She slowly sits down on the couch next to Michael, she removes her fingers from the handle of Michael’s cup. Michael in turn places his fingers in the handles and turns the handle to the right side of him.
Michael slowly brings the cups towards his lips and drinks the coffee. The taste of the coffee with the soft hint of sugar mixed with it, he softly moans, Sammy turns to Michael and smiles.
”So? I’m guessing that I was right?” Said Sammy.
Michael turns to her with a frown on his face.
”You do know that, I hate that you can read me like that? Especially since you are a Betazoid”, replies Michael with a frown and his head tilting to the left.
“You do realise that it’s hard to block out people’s feelings and thoughts. But you and I have talked about this before? And you agreed if you were ever non-talkative and mopey as such that I can read you”, replies Sammy.
“Non-talkative yes, Mopey no. And I am never mopey” replies Michael.
Sammy turns her head to look at Michael, she leans her head forward and looks at him. Michael turns his head and sees the look on her face.
“God, she knows that I hate that look, it reminds me the Academy’s diplomacy professor.” Sammy’s jaw dropped.
“How do I look like Professor Franks?” Says Sammy in a low growl voice that she does.
Slowly Michael smiles.
Michael responses back, “that teaches you for reading my thoughts.”
Sammy slowly smiles and quickly laughs. Sammy takes a big gulp of her coffee. She slowly places the cup down in front of her on the coffee table. Just as she finishes placing her cup down, she turns to Michael and give him the look of “should I ask you again?”
Michael saw the look she gave and he knows what that meant. With a quick sigh as he places his cup of coffee down.
”Alright. Yes I did, could you blame me” responds Michael.
Sammy knew from that answer, he was sad to see someone important to him is gone from his life.
“Oh honey, I feel your pain and when I mean feel I mean literally, which by the way, Yeouch…” says Sammy.
Michael looked up and faced Sammy, he softly smiled for a moment and resumed to frown again. Just as Michael gets up from the couch and grabs the cups of coffee that they both had.
“Captain Markus? Lieutenant Commander Jays? Please report to the bridge,” says a female voice over the intercom.
That sudden announcement of Captain Markus, just reminded him of Braydon, but he knew that it was meant for him, Michael looks at Sammy, and they both looked puzzled by why they are being called to the bridge so early in the morning.
“Jays to Bridge, what seems to be the problem?” Replies Sammy.
A male voice response back, “we have just received a report from the 12th fleet. They have engaged a Borg Sphere in the Proxima System.”
Michael face slowly turned towards Sammy, she knew what that meant.
“I’m on my way” replies Sammy.
Michael quickly ran over to his wardrobe to grab his uniform. He quickly got changed, slipping out of his sleeping clothes into his long black pants, his dark blue top and black vest with silver buttons. He quickly grabbed his boots and slipped into them, and walked past his set of draws with the photo frame on it.
(I will find you Braydon. And I will make them pay for they did to you. I swear.)
Sammy looked over to Michael to see him staring at the photo of Braydon and Him on their anniversary. She knows the pain and the ordeal that Michael has gone through in losing Braydon to the Borg, even though it wasn’t confirmed that the reason for his MIA was Borg related, Michael turned towards the door and walked out of his bedroom into his living room.
Sammy nodded without saying a word at Michael. Michael knew she was asking if he was alright to do this. He nodded back at her, and grinned with such determination. He proceeded out the door of his quarters and Sammy walking quickly behind him.
Michael tapped his commbadge, “what’s the situation with the 12th fleet?” Says Michael with a stern voice.
A female voice sounds out, “the 12th fleet has over 60 ships, 7 have been disabled already and 5 have been destroyed in the last 5 minutes. The fleet is requesting all and immediate assistance.”
Quickly in Michael’s mind he was formulating a plan, but he needs all the information to do what he knows.
“What’s the status of the Borg Sphere?” Says Michael as he walks around the corner with Sammy in close pursuit.
Another female response to his question, “the Borg sphere has moderate damage to its upper right quadrant of the sphere. Minor power fluctuations are emanating from that location as well.”
Michael arrives at the doors of the turbolift, he taps the panel on the left of the turbolift doors waiting the doors to open.
Sammy comes flying around the corner, nearly bumping into Michael at the same time. “Acknowledge the fleet’s request for aid and set a course to the Proxima system maximum warp” response Michael.
“Understood sir, setting course to Proxima system now, ETA 10 minutes” replying to his orders.
Michael Markus, acting captain of the U.S.S. Olympus, Michael was placed into command of the Olympus 3 months ago after a terrible away mission on a planet’s surface went horribly wrong.
The immediate thought of giving orders to order a ship into battle wasn’t a second nature thing to him. He wasn’t officially promoted as of yet by Starfleet. But since there wasn’t a captain available to take command, Starfleet have noted into Michael’s service record that he is acting captain until an arrangement was made.
The doors to the turbolift opened up, he proceeded into the turbolift with Sammy right behind him. “Bridge” says Sammy, ordering the computer to send the turbolift to the command deck of the ship. Michael starting to stare off into space, he was studying to take command of a ship before any of the previous events happened. But he never thought he would have to take command so quickly.
(Minor power fluctuations could be our chance to do some real damage).
Sammy spoke to Michael about the situation with the Sphere, but he didn’t acknowledge what she said. Sammy looked at him and she frowned at him.
“So when are you planning on beaming into the Borg Sphere to go on a mad lover’s revenge” says Sammy.
Michael quickly looked at her and was gob smacked by what she said.
“What did you say?” replies Michael.
She turns away with her arms folded.
“So you heard that and not what I just said a moment ago” says Sammy.
Michael knows he was distracted with his quick thinking. But he wasn’t expecting Sammy to say that, especially since it was something that he had thought about a while ago. But instead of dismissing it what she had said, he decided to make a joke out of it.
“Why? Do you want to tag along through the Borg’s gates of hell, grinning with a big smile across his face when he says it?” says Michael
Sammy turns to look at him. Cracking a half smile with a small wink, “only if I pack the food and phasers in the basket?”
As she says it, she places out her hand wanting to shake on it.
Michael turns and grabs her hand and shakes.
“It does a done deal, just be sure that the phasers are fully charged!” Says Michael.
The turbolift doors open, Michael begins walking out on to the bridge towards to his chair in the centre of the room. Sammy walks over to her station at tactical. Tapping on the tactical console, she checks the torpedo compliment and phaser level, she felt help knowing that the ship was ready and armed to the teeth.
Now she quickly checks the shield strength, she was always nervous about the shields strength she swears that this ship’s shield never liked her when she first took the role of tactical officer on the bridge, but she was safe they seem to be running smoothly for the moment.
“Sir, Phaser and Torpedoes are ready. Shields are fully charged”, reports Sammy.
“Good, be ready on my mark and select your targets accordingly, understood Lieutenant Commander?” Says Michael.
“Understood sir”, replies Sammy.
“Helm, how long until we enter the Proxima system?” he slowly stands and walks over to the helm station whilst asking the ensign that is station there.
The ensign turns his head a little, “ETA 2 minutes sir”, replies the ensign.
Michael hasn’t fully accustomed himself to remembering their names as of yet. He was terrible in recalling people’s name, he thought he was always cursed when it came to name remembering.
“Good, as soon as we are in close range of the fleet, I want an update of the fleet status the moment we drop out of warp ensign”, says Michael.
“Understood sir” replies the ensign.
“Bridge to Engineering, I need the remodulation sub routines up and running the moment that we drop out of warp” says Michael.
A male voice responds to Michael’s request, “Sir, you do realise that we haven’t fully tested out those sub routines yet” says Lieutenant Kimz.
Lieutenant Will Kimz finished the Academy at the same time as Michael and Sammy. He is a quiz kid in making things work, well most of the time.
Michael was excited to have Lieutenant Kimz on board, it made me feel less older knowing that a joined trill with more life times, then Michael has would make him feel more at home.
“And I am a bit suspicious about these algorithms for these sub routines as well. Are you sure we can’t run a quick simulation before activating it” says Will with a concerned tone to his voice.
“No can do Will, we are about to enter into battle and we need those sub routine very shortly” replies Michael.
“Understood sir, Kimz out” says Will.
Kimz voices didn’t sound pleased with that outcome, but he knew that we needed every advantage we got.
Michael quickly looked at Sammy, he quickly thought out loud to Sammy, just so she and he could know.
(I hope I am doing the right thing Sammy, not just for my sake. For everyone’s as well.)
And in that moment Sammy nodded.
(You know you are doing what you feel is right for the ship. We are all behind you, one hundred per cent.)
With that as a comfort, Michael turns his head back to the viewscreen. He leans back into his chair.
“Sir, I have a status update of the fleet. The flagship of the fleet, the U.S.S. Hermes is crippled sir.
Fifty per cent of the fleet are able to fight, but they are running low on torpedoes” says the ensign.
Michael knows that this may be a tough fight, but he knows that tough fights aren’t meant to be won so easily.
“Ensign, inform the fleet that I am taking command. Also, I want any ship that is the closest to the damage section of the sphere to concentrate their fire into that section.
We need them to put everything that can into that section of the ship, the rest of the fleet is to provide cover fire and distraction.”
Michael orders comms officer to send out that message,
Michael turns towards Sammy, “Lieutenant Commander, commence firing on the sphere as soon as we are in range.”
“Bridge to Engineering, I hope you are ready, we are about to test out that sub routine shortly.” says Michael
“All hands, battle stations.” sternly says Michael
The alert status changes from condition green to red alert.

Chapter 2

THE WAY WE WERE BEFORE

(Roughly two years before the event took place)

(Braydon & Michael’s Quarters)
(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Deck 3)
(Stardate: 84780.74)

Michael was in his quarters working over his appointment scheduling for the next 2 weeks. The doors to the quarters opens up, Braydon walks through the door, and in his hands were two PADD’s one containing the duty rosters of the bridge crew and the other containing their performance evaluations.
Michael looked over his shoulder. From where Michael was positioned he was in the corner with a small glass table with a vase which has a bunch of purple orchids. The room was set out quite roomy. The quarters had a couch which was set in the middle of the room, facing towards to windows to the stars outside. The chair which Michael was sitting on was located in the corner near the relipicator, Michael liked the idea of not having to walk far to get a beverage replacement for himself. A small coffee table in located in front of the couch with a three chair dining table located to the far wall opposite to where Michael was.
Braydon walked over the couch and threw himself on to it. Michael turned his head softly towards where Braydon was sitting. Braydon’s hands were covering his face, and his feet were placed on to the arm rest of the couch.
“Long day babe” says Michael?
Braydon slowly removes his hands off of his face and turns his head to Michael was.
“Long day doesn’t cover it, the Ensign that operates at the science station on the bridge was stuffing up on his sensor reading” replies Braydon.
Michael intrigued with the conversation, places his appointment PADD down on the table and slowly begins to stand up.
“I swear the amount of times I had to walk over to his station to undo what the Ensign did you could swear, he was trying to piss me off” says Braydon.
Michael walked over to the couch and grabbed Braydon’s feet and lifted them off the armrest and sat down while placing his feet onto the armrest again.
“What was he doing wrong” asks Michael.
“Somehow the sensor module would shut down after he scanned the mineral deposits of the asteroids, which cause all previous scans done before hand to be lost somehow” responds Braydon.
Michael looked at Braydon with such disbelief of what happened.
“How long has the Ensign been out of the academy” asks Michael.
Braydon brought his legs off of the couch and straightened himself up and he stood. He could tell that Michael was going to be on the defensive regarding new crew members that are fresh from the academy.
He turned his head towards and says, Michael, “not this again, Michael I know that you have your opinion regarding this and all. But don’t start this now.”
Braydon walks away from where Michael was over to the window and stared off into space and slowly turned towards Michael.
“I don’t want to argue about this” says Braydon with a stern tone in his voice.
Michael looked at Braydon, “babe you know that those from the academy haven’t been on a ship let only know how to operate ships system instinctively.
And each ship system are going to be touchy, you had the same problem when you started” responds Michael.
Michael quickly stood up and started walking past Braydon, and just as Michael walks past him Braydon quickly and softly grabbed Michael’s hand and pulled Michael towards him.
Michael knew that Braydon was trying to suck him to him. Michael looked away from Braydon to give the impression that he wasn’t falling for it.
Braydon tilted his head little bit to the right and did the whole puppy dog frown and look. Michael turned his head a little bit and from the corner of his eye he could see Braydon’s face.
He groan when he saw the look that Braydon did.
“I hate you” says Michael.
Braydon continued to look at Michael with his soft puppy dog look.
“So are you going to admit defeat that getting crabby at an Academy newbie?” Asks Michael, Braydon puppy dog look quickly changed to a frown and disappointed look.
Braydon knew he wasn’t going to win this debate as he would like to put it.
“Fine, but you know that I will try and win the next one, you do realize this?” Replies Braydon.
Michael smiles with a sense of gladness.
“So what are you doing at this moment besides your evaluation submissions and duty rosters report?” Asks Michael as he softly removes himself out of Braydon’s grasp and walks over to the dining table and slips into one of the three sits of the dining table.
Braydon watches Michael ever so carefully, admiring Michael sense of stillness in his questions and proud posture as he watches Michael walk over to the dining table.
“Nothing at this point of time, those reports are due for a couple of hours” responses Braydon. “Why do you ask?” Asks Braydon.
Michael slowly turns his head towards Braydon and puts a quick smile on his face. Braydon knows that smile, Braydon smiles back and responses with his hands on his hips.
“Oh… Well we could do that. But I was hoping to go out and have dinner, because we haven’t done that in a fair while since being stationed on the Olympus” says Braydon.
Michael smiles turned into a big grin, he knows that is very much true. They had been on the Olympus for 24 months and during that time they haven’t had a moment to themselves to have dinner, besides the occasional lunch and coffee catch up when they aren’t overly busy with their responsibilities.
Michael quickly stands up and quickly glides over to Braydon and gives him an excited hug.
“That I would love much more, a nice dinner then a sweet “dessert” later”, replies Michael as he winks the word dessert.
Braydon smiled when Michael winked that word. So they both quickly went into their bed room and got changed out of their uniforms and quickly changed into a nice comfy casual outfit.
Ten Forward was known to be the nice hang out on the ship, so they proceeded to head out of their room together, Michael walked beside Braydon as they walked down the corridors to the nearest turbolift.
Just as they turn the corner, they both bumped into Sammy Jays. Sammy looked at Braydon and Michael. Sammy had a smile on her face.
Michael knew what she was smiling about.
”Ok! You can stop smiling now” says Michael.
“Well I can’t help it, when you two are together, I instinctively smile because you both are like to magnets. You super charge me with your feelings and all, and it’s very hard for me to block that off. So if anything you two should stop”, Replies Sammy with a big grin on her face.
Braydon had a hard time getting used to the idea of Sammy being a Betazoid, it made him feel like he wasn’t being probed. Braydon changed his smile into a frown, and Sammy got offended by that quick change in appearance.
Michael knew that something went wrong, and he knew what it was. Michael turned to Braydon and said.
”Babe, Sammy was joking about the not smiling and being happy” says Michael.
The history between Sammy and Braydon was never the easiest one. Michael recalls the day when he first told Sammy that he and Braydon were dating. Sammy was excited and happy for Michael. Sammy had said to Michael that when he ever finds himself that right person for him, that he would introduce him to her. Michael kept that promise to her.
So when Braydon meet Sammy for the first time, Braydon felt out of place, Sammy could pick that up. Braydon felt ever more out of place when he was told that Sammy was a Betazoid.
Michael never knew what had happened between Braydon and Sammy, but he had obviously guessed that Braydon had thought something about Sammy, because the next thing he saw was Sammy throwing a punch into Braydon’s face. The force from Sammy’s punch had thrown Braydon onto his back from where he stood.
Michael was absolutely shocked with the actions that Sammy had displayed. He looked towards Sammy and all he could see what complete disgust on her face, Braydon who was on the floor with a broken nose, had jumped up quickly and yelled at her in Klingon.
The one thing that Michael had learnt about Braydon was being a half human and half Klingon, Braydon was easy to anger. As much as Michael admired that about Braydon, he was sometime scared of what Braydon temper would get him into some of the times.
Michael quickly intercepted Braydon’s body posture and jumped in front of Braydon and quickly grabbed Braydon and shouted, “Braydon! Stop!”
Braydon noticed what Michael did, and quickly turned around and walked away from Michael and Sammy.
Michael thought to himself that he will talk to him later, once he had calmed down and all. Michael quickly turned towards Sammy.
“What the hell was that?” Michael interjected before Sammy could say something to Braydon as he walked away.
“He thought terrible things about me, and he had recalled event that had happened where his was read without his permission by a species that were telepathic. And he expressed what he wished he could do to them” responded Sammy.
Michael was stunned by what Sammy had said, but as Michael has known to not quickly judge. He wasn’t able to say anything back to her in that moment. But Sammy had felt the shock that Michael was in, so she was able to know that Michael was thinking as such.
“I know I was out of line with what I did. But all I felt from him was absolutely resentment towards those that are telepathic. And I reacted to his feeling, so please assure him that I didn’t mean to attack him like that, but it wasn’t very hard not to push aside what he was feeling and all” says Sammy.
Michael nodded to what she had said, normally he was the one that would dissolve situations as such from becoming volatile. Michael turned towards where Braydon had walked off to, Sammy in turn said, “go after him and explain things to him please. I will go and allow you time to sort it out. But be safe please” says Sammy.
And with that Sammy turned towards the corridor that was behind her and proceeded to walk back to her quarters.
Michael quickly walked in the direction of where Braydon went, but he wasn’t able to find him. Michael quickly tapped his commbadge.
“Markus to Burnett?” say Michael
Michael waited for Braydon to respond. But there was no response,
Michael tapped his commbadge again, “Computer where is Commander Burnett?” Say Michael.
A female voice response to Michael request,” Commander Burnett is in Ten Forward.”
Michael thought to himself, wow…. He is quick on his feet. Michael quickly headed to the Turbolift, the door to the turbolift opened and Michael walked in. Ten Forward says Michael.
The door to the turbolift closed and it began to move. Michael wasn’t sure on how to approach Braydon, he knows that he can’t approach Braydon, as he normally would when he is counselling his patients. So he had to rethink on what he was going to do.
The turbolift came to a halt and the doors opened up. Michael walked out of the turbolift, and turned right from the turbolift towards the double doors of Ten Forward.
The doors slid apart revealing no one else by Braydon and 2 bottles of Blood Wine that were in front of him. Michael frowned at the sight of the alcohol that Braydon had in front of him.
Michael slowly approached him and just as he was about to announce his present. Braydon slowly turned his head.
“I think I should not be near you right now” says Braydon.
Michael was stunned again.
“And why is that, if I may ask” replies Michael.
Braydon slowly turned his head back towards the windows starring out into space.
“Because I said so, it isn’t safe for you right now”, Braydon states with a stern low voice.
Michael slowly walks to the chair nearest to Braydon. He could see that Braydon has had a few drinks already.
“I will take my chances”, says Michael as he proceeds to sit down.
Braydon glared at Michael as he sits down in the chair near him.
“So what did that, Sli-Vak” say about me?
Michael wasn’t fluent in Klingon, but he knew that what he said wasn’t a compliment as such.
Michael quickly disregarded the comment and continued to answer the main question.
“Sammy had told me what you had thought of regarding telepathic abled species, and what had happened to you. And she responded to your thoughts as well as what you felt about them” replies Michael.
Braydon quickly turned his head when Michael told him what Sammy said. “She had no right to read me like that!” Yells Braydon towards Michael.
Michael kept his composure when Braydon yelled at him, even though it wasn’t towards him, it was more towards what he had said. “She didn’t read you, she felt your thoughts and emotions regarding what you had wished to did to those that harmed you”, replies Michael in a stern voice.
Braydon looked at Michael, but didn’t respond to what he said. Michael knew that he shouldn’t ask what had happened. But Braydon needed to move on from his problem and anger towards others that could potentially be harmed by him.
“So you want to tell me what happened, that caused them to telepathically assault you?” Asked Michael.
Braydon had hoped that Michael would never find out about this. But he knew that there wasn’t no way Michael was going to forget about this. “Right now, I don’t wish to talk about, but I will give you access to read up on this” says Braydon.
Michael was confused by what he had said. Braydon had grabbed Michael by his hands and he turned his hand palm up and placed a smooth long rectangular shaped item into the palm of his hands and closed it.
Michael opened his palm and saw an isolinear chip, he wasn’t sure what the chip was for. Braydon explained that this chip would give him access to the file that he would be able to read up on. And with that Braydon got up and slowly turned towards the doors to leave Ten Forward,
Michael quickly got up and was about to say something to him, but then Braydon interjected. “Until you read what has happened, don’t come near me until then, allow me the time to calm myself down for a while. That’s all I can ask of you.”
And with that Braydon walked out of Ten Forward with Michael standing there with the chip in his hand. Michael thought about what had happened to Braydon, what was the reason for why those telepaths did what they did to him, and for what reason would they have to read his mind for.
Michael proceeded to head out of Ten Forward towards the turbolift. He ponders a bit move on what Braydon is going through, and wished he could more for him. But Michael was told to stay away until he knows what went on with him.
The doors to the turbolift opened and Michael proceeded into the lift.
“Deck 5” says Michael to the computer.
The lift doors shut and the lift proceeded to his destination. He speculated on what he would find once he put in the isolinear chip in.
As he thought on it more the door of the lift opened.
Michael not noticing the doors opened,
“Are you ok sir”, asks a young female ensign.
Michael quickly moved his head and noticed the doors were open.
“Oh. Sorry I didn’t notice. Yes, everything is alright” replies Michael.
Michael proceeded to walk out of the turbolift and turns left towards his quarters, the young ensign watches Michael turn down the corridor, and she shrugged her shoulders.
“Good night Sir”, she replies.
Michael doesn’t say a word back to her. And she proceeded to enter the turbolift. Michael didn’t realize until the last moment that she said something, but he was too lately to say something back, so he continues to walks towards his quarters.
He arrives at the door, but he suddenly stops. He was scared of knowing about what’s on the chip. And with that he quickly wipes the thought from his mind, he knew that sooner or later he will be too intrigued in not reading up about this.
He taps on the panel of his room to enter. The doors of his quarters were small, but he didn’t care. He was used to having a small room to live in.
As he enters his quarters, he see his work station where we reviews patients and appointments for his patients.
To his right was a 2 seater couch with a small coffee table. Against the wall directly in front of the couch was the food replicator. He turns to his table and the computer terminal that is situated there with his chair.
He wasn’t sure on whether he should look at it now or to give himself time to prepare for whatever he may find. Either way, he knew that he would have to look at it eventually.
He pulls out the chair that’s at his work station, and inserts the isolinear chip into the computer terminal.
Authorization accepted announces the female computer voice.
What Michael saw wasn’t what he had expected.

Chapter 3

WHAT BECAME OF HIM

(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Main Bridge of U.S.S. Olympus)
(Stardate: 86921.17)

The Olympus was manoeuvring itself into position to fire it torpedos into the damaged section of the Borg Sphere, while the other ship of the 12th fleet were providing cover fire and firing off their volleys of torpedos and fire phaser.
Michael sitting in the command sit, waiting for the helmsmen to inform him that they are in position to fire, Sammy had loaded Quantum Torpedos and readied phaser level to maximum capacity at all elevations.
The Olympus is an Intrepid Class Starship in the Federation, it was primarily a science vessel for deep space exploration. But since the attack from the Borg, it had been repurpose to purse and identify possible advances in Borg technology and adaptation for possible means to beat back the Borg. Since the return of the U.S.S. Voyager, the knowledge and development of the Astrometric Lab, Starfleet had incorporated similar specifications from Voyager into the Olympus.
Not only has Voyager been gone for 7 years, they had also brought back more information on the Borg, then Starfleet has had in the last 20 years alone. Most of the information about what Voyager had encountered is known to all, but all highly sensitive information on the Borg are kept in both the Olympus and Starfleet HQ.
The science officer gave out a reading on that damaged section of the sphere.
“Those power fluctuations that we found early from the updates that the 12th fleet had given have increased. It looks like have sustained major damage in that section, But they are have been keeping that section away from the fleet” replies the Science Officer.
Michael could tell that the Borg have realized that they are planning on attacking that section of the sphere. Relay this information to the rest of the fleet says Michael.
“Lt. Commander Jays, do we have any Tricobalt Device onboard?” Asks Michael.
The crew looked at the captain with concern. Sammy looked at Michael feeling that he was going to do something really crazy.
“Yes sir, we have 4 Tricobalt Device onboard. But they will take 20 minutes to prepare all 4 of them?” States Sammy.
“Good, prepare 2 of them to fire at the sphere where the power fluctuations are” says Michael.
Sammy followed his orders. “Sir, I have a manifest of the 12th fleet torpedos complements, the Crazystone and the Denver have Tricobalt Devices as well, but are able to be fired”. Michael was surprised by that announcement.
“Open a channel to the Crazystone and Denver” says Michael.
Sammy prepares a three way communication uplink between the Olympus and the other 2 ships.
“I have them sir” says Sammy.
“On Screen” replies Michael
The Viewscreen shows the captains of the Crazystone and Denver.
Captain Frank Cruz, of the Crazystone and Captain Vernatta, of the Denver.
“Captain Cruz, Captain Vernatta, I want both of your ships to prepare to fire your Tricobalt Device at the damaged section of the Borg sphere” requested Michael.
“I’m Sorry, Acting Captain” replies Captain Cruz
Michael had a bad feeling when Captain Cruz stated that title that he wasn’t saying it in the nicest tone.
“But on whose orders are you following for us to fire these type of torpedos”, says Captain Cruz.
Michael slowly stood up, and walked over to the viewscreen, “On my orders, Captain Cruz.
I am the only and closest expert on the Borg at this moment of time, you will fire the Tricobalt Device, Is that understood?” Michael sternly stated the obvious to Captain Cruz, he didn’t seem impressed with what Michael had to say.
“Understood, we will wait for your signal, Crazystone out” says Captain Cruz.
“Denver standing by for your orders, let’s show these mindless drones what we are packing”. Captain Vernatta complied with Michael’s Order.
He knew that Vernatta wouldn’t have an issue with what Michael was asking.
“Michael, what are you planning on doing with those Tricobalts?” Sammy had a concerned tone in her voice when she asked Michael that question.
Michael turned to her, “if we get the Crazystone, Denver and the Olympus to get in to range to fire those devices. We may just do the damage we are looking for”, states Michael.
Sammy wasn’t impressed with the idea. She knew there was more to it than just firing those devices at it.
True, it would do some major damage to the sphere, and could potentially destroy the sphere. Michael returned to his seat.
“Helm, Prepare Attack Pattern Gamma Upsilon 3”. Sammy recognised that manoeuvre. It was Braydon’s Attack Pattern, now she realized what he was doing. The Olympus moved itself away from the rest of the fleet. With the Crazystone and Denver remaining behind, they proceeded to manoeuvre towards the sphere damaged section. Michael had the helmsmen send an encrypted message to the Crazystone and Denver on what they are planning on doing. The captains of the Crazystone and Denver had acknowledge the plan.
Sammy’s console began to bleep at her, she read out what was going on. She was stunned by what she read. Michael turned around towards Sammy to ask her for an update on the Tricobalt Device preparation, when he notice the look upon her face.
“Sammy, what’s wrong?” Asked Michael.
Sammy looked up at him, “You are being hailed” replies Sammy.
Michael was confused at what she meant. “Don’t you mean we are? Right?” Says Michael.
Sammy shook her head at him. “No. You are being hailed by name” replies Sammy.
Michael slowly turned back towards the viewscreen. Michael sat there for moment thinking of who would be hailing him.
“Sammy, can you trace the source of the signal” asked Michael.
Sammy quickly traced the source of the signal. She immediately stopped once she found it. “Michael?” Says Sammy.
Michael turns back to her, “what is it?” Replies Michael.
Sammy’s face became white with shock, not only was she able to trace the signal, but the signal also mentions another name.
Michael could see the shock on her face. Michael quickly stood and walked over to her station. Once he reached her station, he quickly looked at the finding of what she found.
The signal was traced back to the Borg Sphere, and the message from the Borg Sphere had a name stating who it was from. The name was Braydon.
Michael’s face went white as stone. He was shocked, part of him wanted to scream at the disbelief of what both he and his tactical officer had found.
He starting seeing an image of Braydon’s face with all that Borg technology running through his skin. A tear began to form from his tear duct. Sammy sensed the pain that was going through his mind. Michael began to clench his hand into a fist.
“Open a channel to the Borg sphere” says Michael.
Sammy nodded to his request. Michael slowly walked back to his chair. Slowly bracing himself to what shock he may see.
Michael tilted his head face down, he was overcome with horror and sadness of what he may see. The viewscreen went black with a hint of a green lights shining through. Michael slowly raised his head and to his horror, he saw what he didn’t wish to see.
He saw Braydon. Braydon had a Borg implant placed over his left eye. His hair was gone. His skin was greyish green. And a red beam of light was coming from the implant. Michael immediate thought was to yell at what he could see. The image of his partner that was taken away from him the very being that is standing there, looking at him from the viewscreen.
Michael wasn’t sure on how to respond to the image of what looks of his partner of 4 years. Michael quickly thought to myself to allow Sammy to know what he wanted. “Inform the Crazystone and Denver to standby for my orders.”
Sammy didn’t need to acknowledge what he had said, she proceeded to send an encrypted message to the other two ships of the situation and to standby.
Michael slowly stood up from his chair, and walked slowly to his helmsmen and stopped right next to his ensign. The Borg drone that looked like Braydon didn’t blink, the feeling alone was enough to scare Michael into submission.
“My designation is twelve of eighteen, I speak for the Borg”, states the Borg Braydon.
“I’m Acting Captain Michael Markus of the U.S.S...”
Before Michael could finish with what he was saying, the Borg Braydon finished his sentence, “U.S.S. Olympus, Intrepid Class vessel recently modified with information from the U.S.S. Voyager commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway, Now Admiral Janeway. You are to cease fire with the Borg and prepare to be assimilated.”
Michael knew this was going to be the hardest thing that could happen. Michael thought out to Sammy,
“Have the Crazystone fire it Tricobalt to the damage section of the Borg Vessel. NOW!!!”
Sammy acknowledged the orders from Michael telepathically, The Crazystone manoeuvrers towards the damaged section of the Borg Vessel and fires its Tricobalt devices at it. But in the same instances, Borg Vessel had locked a tractor beam at the Crazystone and fired its torpedoes at the forward torpedo tubes of the Crazystone, instantly disabling the vessel.
“Report?” Says Michael,
Sammy nodding to Michael’s request, “Crazystone weapon’s system are offline, and they are being boarded. They are requesting assistance” says Sammy.
Michael lowers his head and the failed attempt to disable the Borg Sphere.
“Send the Denver into assist in the evacuation of the Crazystone” says Michael in a low voice. Sammy sends a message to the Denver to assist the Crazystone in the evacuation of it’s personal. “We had anticipated from this drone had once done the same thing prior to its assimilation into the collective. Resistance is futile” stating the Drone that was once Braydon.
Michael bring his head up to the viewscreen, and softly grinning at the assimilated Braydon.
“But you didn’t anticipate this one” says Michael in a stern voice.
“NOW SAMMY!” Yells Michael.
Sammy taps on her console. The Olympus quickly charges at the Sphere firing its Tricobalt torpedo.
The Tricobalt torpedo left the tubes with a bright blue hue and sparkling green effect in its wake.
Michael tapped a button on his chair to close the channel.
The next image he saw was the Olympus moving away from the sphere which at the same instance, the Borg fired its own tractor beams at the Tricobalt, but failed to lock on.
Sammy looks towards Michael, “It worked! They couldn’t lock on to the Tricobalt torpedo sir” says Sammy.
Michael grinned. He had hoped that the sub routine that he had developed prior would work. What he designed was a sub-routine that would have a counter measure system that would deflect and remodulate a small shielding system that was built into the case of the torpedo, but there was a 1 in 5 chance upon even firing or locking on to the torpedo itself could potentially detonate prematurely. It was a risk that Michael had to take to insure the safety of the fleet.
The torpedo continued on course to Sphere, and eventually hitting its intended target.
Michael continued to look at the viewscreen observing the damage that was inflicted on the Sphere.
“Status report on the Sphere?” Says Michael.
The science officer stationed quickly taps on his console getting a report on the damage caused by the Tricobalt torpedo, upon reviewing his findings he forwarded them to the Tactical station manned by Sammy Jays.
“Report coming in, 35% of the sphere is damaged, but the damaged that we are seeing are more surface damage than internal damage” says Sammy.
Michael glances over to Sammy, the look of concern and dismay loomed over. He begins to walk over to Tactical and looks at the findings himself. They put a force field the damaged section of the sphere to minimize the damage internally.
Michael taps on the tactical console, to opening a channel to the fleet.
“Olympus to Fleet, I am ordering all ships to retreat to starbase 427, all ships that aren’t able to warp are to be prepared for emergency towing. Everyone else is assist with evacuations and have the evacuated ships set the ships to auto destruction. We need to slow the Sphere as much as possible, Olympus out” says Michael.
Sammy looked at Michael, looking at him with concern on his orders, this is something that she hasn’t seen before from him since the academy, even though he wasn’t good at commanding a starship at that time, nor did he express interest in doing so.
“Sir, the Caledonia is having difficulties in establishing a tractor lock on the Pollux”, says Sammy. We don’t have time for this Michael thought to himself. “What is the next closest ship to the Pollux”, says Michael?
Sammy scans quickly at the all the ships in the area to the Pollux, “The Valiant is sir but there are assisting the Denver with the evacuation of the Crazystone” says Sammy.
Michael glared in the viewscreen, Sammy could tell he was getting annoyed already.
“And how far are they from completing the evacuation of the Crazystone” asked Michael?
“They are nearing complete evacuation of the Crazystone, but they aren’t able to take on any more people, but are able to tow the Caledonia” sir replies Sammy.
Michael softly smiles are the relief of hearing that.
“Right, Order them to tow the Caledonia quickly. Also have all the auto destruct command sent to my console and get the Denver to transport over their activate Tricobalt torpedos to us, I have an idea in mind” says Michael.
Sammy looking at Michael, she liked the idea that he had just formulated in his head. It was a risky move but could potentially hinder the Sphere long enough.
“Understood sir” says Sammy. She quickly issues the orders to the fleet on what Michael has asked of them. The fleet acknowledge the orders. The Denver begins to head towards the Olympus. Michael ordered his helmsmen to manoeuvre closely to the ships that weren’t salvageable and carefully transported the Tricobalt devices to the hull of each ship that were in the spheres path. He knew that slowing it down was the best and only course of action that he could think of.
Sammy had armed all of the remaining Tricobalt devices in time for the transport of them. As the Olympus transported the last of the devices, the sphere hailed the Olympus again, requesting for its captain to answer.
Michael had hoped he wouldn’t have to see his partner’s face again with all the Borg devices and implant on his face. Michael glanced over to Sammy, she knew what that meant. She tapped away on her console,
“On screen sir”, says Sammy. Michael glances back over to the viewscreen as he begins to sit back down. Sammy knew she had to be strong for him, the pain and anger she was feeling was a lot. And for someone who’s known for his pacifism in dealing with stressful situation, she wished that she could do more for him, then what she has done in the past to help ease his pain.

WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE LIGHTS GO OUT

(Two years ago before the event took place)

(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Deck 2, Port side of ship)
(Stardate: 84780.83)
The information that Michael had been reading was beyond what he had thought. The details of the torture that had happened to Braydon were both mentally and physically exhausting a half human half Klingon would barely be able to handle that kind of punishment.
Michael had kept up with the reading of both the psychological report that was done after being rescued. Michael can now understand why Braydon wasn’t ready to talk about it. Michael had come across similar circumstances to Braydon situation. Due to the psychological trauma, being deprived of any form of nutritional substances and the telepathic assault on Braydon’s mind, being asked to relive that situation, is the same as a person who is a victim of rape to recount every second that had happened.
As Michael continued with the reading of the information from the isolinear chip, he had noticed that Starfleet weren’t find out anymore on who they were. Michael had a bad feeling that Starfleet didn’t do a good job in investigating on this situation. Just as Michael continued to look through the information more, Braydon came through the door from the bedroom. Michael quickly spun around and was in a state of shock. He didn’t hear Braydon enter the quarters when he was reading the files. Braydon looked at him and frowned.
“Still reading?” Says Braydon.
Michael quickly stood up and proceeded to walk over to Braydon. Braydon looked into Michael’s eyes and he could tell that the information was mind boggling him with more questions, questions that Braydon himself couldn’t answer.
Michael was about to speak until a sound from the door chimed off. Braydon softly brushed his hand over Michael’s cheek.
“I wish I could tell you more Michael, I really do. But I don’t know any more than what I gave, let alone what they gave me in return” says Braydon.
Michael smiled softly and tilted his head. Braydon knew that look, that look was his way of saying that he understands but he wouldn’t stop to find out what happened one way or another.
The door chimed again, “Enter” said Michael.
A slender built woman stood in the doorway of the room, it was Captain Gianni Ramosa.
“Commander? Are those reports on the performance evaluations ready?” Ask Captain Ramosa.
Braydon had totally forgot about preparing those reports, they were meant to have been ready 2 hours ago. Michael quickly jumped into the issue, hopefully to make Captain Ramosa understandable on the circumstance with why they weren’t prepared in time.
“I do apologises for Braydon tardiness in not having those reports ready in time, you see, when Braydon came back from 3 hours ago, he was exhausted and I thought to let him rest for an hour before getting those reports ready for you, but I totally lapsed on the time and he was just getting out of bed from his nap”. States Michael.
Braydon did indeed look tired and exhausted, so Michael hoped that the Captain was understandable.
“Well I can understand that, but that doesn’t explain the bruise on Braydon’s face?” Asked Captain Ramosa.
Braydon and Michael totally forgot about the incident with Sammy punching Braydon in the face. Michael was lost for ideas to explain that.
“And I am fully aware of the incident between Lt. Jays and Commander Markus about 2 hours ago as well,” states Captain Ramosa.
Braydon looked at Michael with a concerned look on his face, Michael looked back at him and was puzzled as well. To his understanding, there wasn’t anyone else around at the time of the incident and Michael was sure that Sammy wouldn’t have said anything.
“And I am fully aware that it is in relation to the classified mission that Commander Markus was in command of”, says Captain Ramosa in a stern and low voice.
Michael knew then that it wasn’t Sammy, Michael knew that if Sammy was aware of that, she would have told him about it then and there. Braydon’s hands began to clench. Michael knew that, Braydon was really angry about this.
“Captain Ramosa? I think we should leave this subject alone right now, since you are obviously are aware of the circumstance with regards to Commander Braydon and Lt Jays. I strongly believe that…..”
Captain Ramosa interjects in Michael’s sentence, “Counsellor Markus? I would appreciate if you sit down and remain silent for a moment.”
Braydon’s face slowly tilted down and his hand began to tighten up further with Captain Ramosa ordering Michael to stand down.
“Captain Ramosa!!” Yells Michael. Both Braydon and Captain Ramosa both looked at Michael.
“Right now, you are not helping Braydon with your approach to this situation. If you could see right now, if I hadn’t yell out to you just now. Braydon would have most likely done something in a few moments, which would have involved security teams putting the Commander in the Brig,” says Michael in a low growl and very sternly tone of voice.
Captain Ramosa looked away from Michael and looked at Braydon. She could see that Michael’s analysis of Braydon was in fact correct. Braydon was sweating from his face, both of his hands were bleeding from his continuous clenching and his body looked as if he was ready to pounce over the furniture’s in the quarters.
“I see, Braydon have those reports ready for me in two days. I think you may need a break. Counsellor? I want to see you in 2 hours in my ready room to discuss your actions,” says Captain Ramosa.
Michael nodded at the request of the Captain. “Understood Ma’am.”
Captain Ramosa turned towards the door out of their quarters and just before the doors closed, she turns her head towards Braydon.
“Braydon? I’m sorry.” And with that she walks away from the door and the doors to their quarters close.
Michael’s body ached after she left, he turned to Braydon and touched Braydon’s hands. Braydon slowly turned towards Michael and Braydon could see that Michael was worried, but he was putting a brave face. Michael quickly grabbed his tricorder and the dermal regenerator from a secret compartment in the coffee table. Michael has a habit of not only keeping a replicator near him, but he liked the idea being prepared for anything.
Michael softly grabs both of Braydon’s hands and scans the injuries.
“It’s not too serious, they will be sore for a while” says Michael in a soft soothing voice.
Braydon always found Michael’s approach to assisting people when injured as both a good thing and an annoyance.
Michael swapped the tricorder for the dermal regenerator in the same hand, and slowly hovered the device over Braydon’s hand from left to right at an even pace.
“If anyone else knew about those items, you know that Trixie would be very disappointed in your for stealing her equipment?” Stated Braydon in his neutral tone of voice. Michael looked at Braydon and softly smiled.
Trixie gave me these as a pre-cautionary thing for when there are too many question’s being asked about any and all injuries that I get”, states Michael.
Braydon looked at Michael, “why would people asks? That’s none of their business!” Says Braydon in a stern and angered voice.
Pulling his hands away from Michael, he moves towards the window in their bedroom. Michael could tell that wasn’t the right response to Braydon.
“Braydon? You know I wasn’t implying that you have or had for that matter, hit me ever since we have been together” says Michael.
Michael walks slowly towards Braydon, and softly touches Braydon’s shoulder and slowly turns Braydon around to face Michael.
Braydon tried to resist Michael’s insistence to turn around, but he eventually gave in to Michael’s stubbornness in the end.
“How do you put up with me Michael?” Asks Braydon?
Michael’s face shot up to Braydon’s face. Michael was shocked with disbelief. Michael had never once heard Braydon say anything like this before.
“I don’t put up with you. I accept you as you are, and know that you are who you are as a person. The man that I married who wanted to be with me”. Says Michael.
Michael softly slaps Braydon across the face as a mean to knock the idea out of Braydon’s mind.
“I don’t know why you would think of that at all?” Says Michael.
Braydon instinctive reaction to Michael’s slap across the face, had pushed a nerve in Braydon’s mind. Braydon raised his hands and closed it into a fist and punched Michael straight into his nose.
Michael flew across the room into the other room. During those whole 3 seconds of him being punched in the face to him landing in the other room. Michael was shocked with horror and absolute disgust with Braydon.
Michael landed on his back with hand quickly covering his face. He could feel something wet on his hands when he touched his face. Braydon’s face went from an angry scrunched up face looked to a jaw dropping look of what did he do. Braydon had never dreamt in his whole life, that he would ever punched someone that he loves so much.
Michael slowly rose up from the floor in the living area. And slowly proceeded out the door of the quarters. “Michael! Wait!” Says Braydon.
Michael didn’t stop. He just kept on walking towards the door of their quarters. He needed to get to sickbay. He needed to put some space between himself and Braydon right now.
As soon as Michael got out the doors of their quarters and moved quickly towards the turbolift. Braydon stopped in front of Michael and tried to see the damage of what he had done. He rose his hands to Michael’s face, but Michael quickly knocked them back and gave a foul look to Braydon.
Braydon had never seen Michael act like that before. So he moved away and allow Michael to move on past him. Braydon was disgusted with himself. He was distraught with guilt for what he has done. As Michael moved past Braydon. Braydon turned back towards their room and entered their quarters. Michael didn’t think of it, his main concern was the damage that was inflicted upon him. Once he got to the turbolift doors, waited patiently for the doors to open. Michael tiled his head down and thought to himself.
“Why did he do that? Why did he react in such a violent manner? Did I deserve it? Should I have done something different?”
Those words kept repeating in his mind, which to him felt like hours, the words themselves felt liked they echoed and with each repeat they grew more frequent and grew closer together which made his head hurt even more.
Michael wasn’t’ one for violence, he never liked the idea of being violent or the use of violence. It was what made him the kind of person that he was now. The doors to the turbolift opened up and as Michael tilted his head back up, he saw Sammy.
“Michael! I heard you from my quarters? Are you alright?” Asks Sammy.
Michael was stunned.
“Could she have heard me from my quarters of what Braydon did to me?
“Does she know that it was Braydon that punched me?”
Michael couldn’t say a word, Sammy grabbed Michael by his arms and gently guided him into the turbolift.
“Deck 4. Sickbay” says Sammy.
“Jays to Willcox?” Sammy wasn’t sure if Trixie was in sickbay or not, her main concern was to get Michael to sickbay without any issues.
“Yes? How can I help?” Say Trixie
“Trixie? Are you in Sickbay right now?” Asks Sammy
“I just got in. What’s wrong?” Replies Trixie. Sammy could tell that Trixie was concerned. The tone in her voice was enough to say that something was wrong.
“I have Michael with me and he is injured. I will explain what I can, once I am at sickbay. Be there in 1 minute” says Sammy.
“Acknowledge. See you shortly” says Trixie. From then on in the turbolift, it was dead silent. Nothing but the humming of the turbolift going deck by deck in arriving to its destination.
Sammy was concerned with the injuries that Michael had sustained. She wasn’t sure if it was serious or not.
The lift came to a halt and the doors to the turbolift opened up. Sammy quickly moved herself and Michael down the corridors of deck 4 to Sickbay. Sammy slowly ease the pace towards the door of sickbay, so that the doors themselves could catch up.
Trixie was in her office waiting for Sammy and Michael’s arrival. She was concerned and worried about what was going on as well.
But as soon as she saw Michael, she quickly ran towards the pair and she softly grabs the other side of Michael and guided them both to the main biobed.
Michael started to feel more and more upset, he wasn’t sure how or what to say to the both of them, once Trixie had fixed the damage that was cause.
Trixie grabbed her tricorder and scanned Michael’s face.
“The nasal bone is broken, both upper and lower lateral cartilage’s are damaged, anterior septal angle and membranous septum are damaged as well” says Trixie.
Trixie turned away from Michael and walked over to small trolley which had an assortment of hypospray tube and medical equipment. She grabbed two empty hypospray tube and a hypospray.
The first tube had Bicaridine to reduce the pain.
The second tube had Anetrizine to anesthetize the nerves in Michael’s nose
And the lastly she grabs a vascular regenerator.
“Michael? What happened to you?” Asks Sammy.
Michael felt wasn’t sure on what happened neither. He knew what happened but to produce the words of what happened was hard and difficult for him. Sammy sensed Michael’s confusion.
Sammy closed her eyes and reached out to Michael’s mind to feel out what she could sense from him. She saw who was in the room, she heard what was said. She saw what had transpired before and after her encounter with Braydon earlier that evening, and the discussion that Michael had with Braydon.
The flooding of emotions and images came to her mind of what happened to Michael and Braydon. She saw Michael slapping Braydon across the face, she couldn’t tell from the image if it was hard or anything, but sensing Michael’s mind she could tell that it wasn’t.
Sammy’s eyes shot open when the image of Braydon’s hand heading towards Michael head.
Sammy grasped, with shock of what Michael felt. She sense the confusion and the pain that Michael was feeling. The shock of knowing the man you love had opened his heart and hand to Michael, had turned it into a fist with anger and disgust.
Trixie turned her head towards Sammy, she could see that she was feeling out Michael. Trixie was aware of the arrangement that those two had. She didn’t object.
“So? What happened Sammy?” Asks Trixie.
Sammy looks to Trixie, Braydon hit Michael, response Sammy.
“Why?” Replies Trixie, as she turns her head back towards treating Michael’s damaged nose. She grabs the vascular regenerator to repair the veins in Michael’s nose.
“I am not completely sure to be honest. I could see what happened, Michael slapped Braydon across the face, but I can’t tell why Braydon retaliated” says Sammy.
The doors to Sickbay opened, with Braydon slowly walking in.
Sammy turned her head to the doors and saw him. Sammy’s face went red.
“How could you!” Say Sammy.
Trixie’s head shot up. She looked at Sammy and saw she wasn’t facing at her anymore, she looked in the direction of where Sammy was looking and she saw Braydon to.
“Can I explain what happened?” Say Braydon.
“No. you can’t. Not right now”. Say Trixie.
“If you can wait until after Trixie has fixed the damage to Michael’s nose first, then I will ask you some question” says Sammy.
Braydon’s face went still and his eye brows came down as if he was angered by Sammy’s stern orders.
“I am senior officer in charge Lt. Commander, so don’t you order me around. Responses Braydon.
Slowly Trixie placed the vascular regenerator down on the biobed next to Michael’s head, and turns the direction of what Braydon was.
“And I am the Chief Medical Officer of this Sickbay and you are in my house Commander, and I request that both you and Sammy both sit down and shut up, while I am fixing him up. Or I will ask for Captain Ramosa to be involved” Say Trixie, in a stern voice. Sammy looked at Trixie, she hasn’t seen Trixie like this. But Trixie was right. Trixie does out rank both of us when it comes to sickbay.
Braydon has respect for Trixie, as she wasn’t telepathic capable. So he kept quiet as well and sat on one of the other biobeds in the room.
Sammy didn’t question Braydon anymore after Trixie told them both off. Michael may have been in shock at that time, but he was aware of what was said. He was both proud of his friends and was happy to see that Braydon was here. But Michael knew that things were needing to be explained one way or another.
“Trixie? Stop for a moment” say Michael in his soft voice.
“Can it wait for one moment, I am nearly finished” responses Trixie.
“No. It can’t” say Michael.
Trixie didn’t object, she knew that this was the only time Michael would ever say anything about what had happened.
Trixie came around to the side of the biobed that Michael was laying in, and slowly brought Michael up. Michael’s head was throbbing mildly.
“Look, I understand that you two are worried about me, but Braydon is going through things that he needs to sort out” says Michael.
Sammy’s mouth opened to respond to what Michael had said.
Michael quickly responded to her with his mind so that she can hear.
“SAMMY!!! NO!!!!!”
Sammy quickly placed her hands on her heads as if she had something thrown at her head. Trixie turns to see that and she knew, Michael told Sammy off, he means business.
“Braydon, you know I can’t forgive you for hitting me, but I love you too much to let out relationship to be thrown” says Michael as he looks at Braydon.
Braydon looked at Michael, he could see the kindness and compassion that made Michael who he is. “Michael, I understand what you mean, but if you can’t forgive me than, how do I forgive myself?” asks Braydon.
Michael didn’t know how to respond to his question, he felt woozy from the head trauma that he had sustained. But all of a sudden Michael felt this uncontrollable urge to fall flat on his back.
Alarms begun to sound off from the biobed that Michael was laying on.
Trixie quickly turned and saw something was wrong.
Sammy’s mouth swang opened again at the shock of what she was seeing.
Braydon slowly moved forward towards the biobed.
“What is happening?” asks Braydon in a loud voice.
Trixie grabbed her tricorder and quickly scanned Michael’s body to see what seems to have happened.
She taps quickly on the tricorder, Michael seems to be having a mild seizure.
Sammy and Braydon looked at each other when they heard that Michael was experiencing a seizure.
“What is causing it” asks Sammy
Trixie looked at her tricorder, ignoring Sammy’s question.
“Trixie? What is causing his seizure?” asks Sammy.
Trixie quickly grabbed a hypospray to stop the seizure that is being inflicted onto Michael.
Trixie turns away from Michael’s biobed to Sammy and Braydon.
“I can’t tell you as Michael has told not to reveal this situation and medically speaking I would be breaking doctor patient confidentiality” says Trixie.
“Braydon? Do you know what she is talking about?” says Sammy as she turns to him.
But she could see that he knew nothing about what she is asking about.
“You going to have to wait until Michael is fully awake and has regained consciousness” say Trixie.
Braydon walks from the front of the biobed towards the side of the biobed, softly brushing the side of Michael’s cheek, “What haven’t you told me Michael? What is it that you aren’t telling us? says Braydon.

Chapter 5

DARK SECRETS OF A TRILL

(Two and a half years ago before the event took place)

(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Deck 4-5, turbolift)
(Stardate: 84253.12)

Michael was in the turbolift with Trixie after going to the Holodeck to re-enact a TV show that they both had watched.
“Michael, remind me again on why is it that, you seem to be playing female leads everytime?” asks Trixie.
Michael looked at Trixie and he gave a smile.
“Oh Sweety, come on? Do you really see yourself kissing that guy that many times with that lazy eye thing” responds Michael with a grin on his face.
Trixie looked at Michael, and thought about it.
She turns away from looking at him.
“You got a point there, I don’t think I could look past that” says Trixie.
Michael smiled even harder, but Trixie had a grin on her face. Michael was puzzled by why she was smiling.
“But you have to admit you do have weird taste for men” states Trixie.
Michael shocked with what she has said.
Just has he opened his mouth to respond back to what Trixie has said.
“Bridge to Markus?” says Braydon through the ship’s speaker system.
Michael moves his hand over to his commbadge and taps it.
“Markus here, what’s seems to be issue?” says Michael.
“Michael, there is an incoming transmission from a Trill scientist from the Planet Cheldor V” responds Braydon.
“Transfer the transmission to our quarters, I’ll be there shortly, Markus out.” says Michael.
Michael looks at Trixie, “Sorry Sweety, want to catch up later for lunch?” asks Michael
Trixie smiles and nods to his question, “Sure thing. Let me know when, I have a few appointments that are happening before lunch. Give me a buzz and I will let you know if we are free still.” replies Trixie.
“Deal. Computer re-route turbolift to Deck 3” requesting Michael.
Turbolift begins to slow down and softly shifts into a different direction.
Michael turns to Trixie and give her a hug and a soft kiss on the cheek.
Trixie gives a soft kiss back on the cheek as well.
The turbolift doors open up to Deck 3.
Michael slowly moves away from Trixie after giving her a hug and a kiss, and begins to walk out of the turbolift towards his quarters.
Approaching the quarters of his and Braydon’s, Michael was curious at who could be asking for him. Especially since he doesn’t know of any Trill scientist on Cheldor V, or know of any scientist that knows him.
Walking through the doors of his quarters, he walks towards his desk with a wall monitor display on the desk.
He taps the console to activate the transmission.
The image on the monitor displayed an elder Trill man who looks like he is 85 years of age, with grey hair. He is sitting in chair sipping from a glass. From the looks of it, it looks like a coffee or tea beverage.
“Counsellor Markus I presume?” says the elderly trill man.
Michael gathered his composure as he usually does. “Yes, this is Counsellor Markus, may I ask who is this?” asks Michael.
“Where are my manners? My name is Doctor Jilura Vek, I need your assistance?” responds Jilura.
He places his glass down on the table next to him.
“My assistance?” asks Michael.
Michael shifted a little bit from where he stood. He liked the idea of standing rather than sitting, it made me irritable.
“I require your assistance, your unbiased assistance.” replies Jilura.
“I am not sure I follow what you mean Doctor Vek?” says Michael.
Please Counsellor, call me Jilura, I dislike formalities of titles. Makes me feel like I’m too old.” Says Jilura.
“Ok…. Jilura, if you insist on this that you can call me Michael. But again why do you required my unbiased assistance?” says Michael.
“Well for a trill you sure have an odd first name? Is it an Earth name?” asks Jilura.
Michael was starting to feel uncomfortable with these lines of question that this doctor was asking about, he had a feeling that there was more to it than just a friendly chat, but he knew that until he had all the facts, he wasn’t going to be disrespectful.
“Yes, it is. My parent wanted to start a new life for themselves and of course, when they had me they wanted to give me a name that was different with meaning. But I’m guessing that my unbiased assistance has nothing to do with my earth name, doctor?” replies Michael.
“You are a very smart and quick to the point there Michael, so I will get to the point. I need your assistance for an operation?” says Jilura.
“An operation? I’m sorry but I still don’t quite follow? says Michael.
“You see, I need your assistance to oversee a new candidate for my host. I want to make sure that this candidate is suitable for my replacement.” states Jilura.
Michael’s hands began to sweat and tingle. He knows something isn’t right with this. So he quickly pulled out his PADD and quickly looked up on the doctor, to see what and who he really is.
As he was typing away on the PADD to search up Doctor Jilura Vek. “Right.. And who is this candidate that you are wanting me to oversee? asks Michael.
Michael keep the look of someone professional while he gather his information.
“The candidate is you.” replies Jilura.
Michael stopped moving just as Jilura said who the candidate was. The PADD display screen had the information about Doctor Jilura Vek.
The PADD showed, “Doctor Jilura Vek, born on Stardate -527.700, educated in Genetic Manipulation on Trill. Published theoretical hypothesis of Technological Genetic Manipulation. Was deregistered as Doctor with the Trill Homeworld for reckless endangerment of life when experimenting on Borg technology in his field of Genetics. Exiled from Trill society.
Michael slowly looked up. “Doctor Vek are you asking me to go against Trill tradition and against the Symbiosis Commission rules as well? says Michael in stern voice.
Jilura knew the ruse was up. He knew that Michael was very smart at what he does.
“I won’t lie to you, Michael, but……” says Jilura until he was interrupted with Michael saying. “Counsellor Markus, Doctor Vek!” says Michael with a deep stern voice that he used previously.
Jilura stopped speaking. He looked at Michael with a glare. Michael quickly thought of what possible reason for why this man would ask him to assistance him in an unbiased operation in overseeing the candidate which is himself of course.
“You want me to be your candidate for your symbiont for an illegal joining.” asks Michael.
Jilura was becoming more impressed with Michael’s quick thinking and ability to see through things.
“Honestly, I am asking you to go against them. I know I made mistakes which can’t be unwritten and I apologise for lying to you. All I ask if you would hear me out and have an open mind about this.” asks Jilura.
Michael could see that the man was pleading for his life, and he knows and understands about making mistakes, but every fiber of him was telling to close the channel and report him. Instead he wanted to listen and hear more.
“And by having an open mind, you mean to hear you out and make my own choice in joining with your Symbiont?” replies Michael.
Jilura knew in order to be honest with Michael, he knew he would have to make a deal that he wouldn’t like.
“Yes. I am asking you to hear me out and to determine whether or not you wish to join with the symbiont.” states Jilura.
Michael thought for a moment, and a solution came to him.
“Alright I will hear you out. On one condition?” says Michael.
Jilura was shocked that Michael would hear him out, but confused as to what the condition was.
“And that is?” asks Jilura.
“That the Olympus’s Chief Medical Officer is to accompany me to your location and in the possible operation for the joining, if I agree to do so” stating Michael with his poker face of ‘take it or leave it’ look.
Jilura was surprised yet again, and he smiled.
Michael was thinking to himself when he saw Jilura smiled at his request for Trixie to accompany me to where he is.
“That is a fair and honourable arrangement, I will send you the coordinates to where I am at. See you then” says Jilura.
The monitor which Jilura was on went black and displayed only the Federation insignia.
Michael knew that he would have to speak to both Trixie and the Captain about this.
“Markus to Captain Ramosa and Doctor Willcox, can I see you both in my quarters please.”
“What seems to be the emergency?” replies Trixie.
“I don’t want to speak about over the Comms. See you shortly, Markus out.” says Michael
Michael knew that the Gianni and Trixie will listen to him about this. He wasn’t hoping for them to be excited cause he knows that the moment he agreed to see Jilura Vek about this operation to join his symbiont with him that he has already gone against the Trill society and traditions.
So what Michael is hoping to do is, get both of them on board and keep things on the down low about this. He knows that there are already other Trill crewmembers on the ship besides himself, and he can’t have them know either or he will surely will be reported and sent to trill to have the symbiont removed and he would die if they do that.
Michael quickly paced back and forth from his desk to the doorway of his and Braydon’s bedroom.
The doors chimed. He pulled himself together and was about to open the door when he realized that he had to be sure that it was them and no Braydon.
“Yes, who is it” asks Michael.
“It’s Captain Ramosa and Doctor Willcox” says Gianni.
Michael was relieved.
“Enter” says Michael.
Both Gianni and Trixie were standing at the door and walked immediately through.
“Please sit down, I need to ask you both something and no one else can know of this, not even the crewmember or Braydon” say Michael.
Trixie began to worry, she has never seen Michael like this before. Gianni was concerned as well. The look on Michael’s was bothering them.
“Michael, what’s going on, what is this about? Does this have anything to do with the transmission that you received?” ask Gianni.
Michael’s face went white. His eyes opened widely.
“What do you mean? What do you know?” asks Michael.
Gianni has now become overly worried and concerned. Trixie couldn’t say anything yet, she was just as confused and scared.
“All I know is that a Trill scientist wanted to speak to you, didn’t even know who or what this man is. What is going on Michael?” replies Gianni.
Michael was relieved and scared of what he is about to say.
“The Trill scientist is Doctor Jilura Vek. He is known for his theories on Genetic Manipulation on an technological scale.” says Michael.
Gianni was nodding her head to what she was hearing. Trixie’s mouth dropped. She knew the name. Trixie slowly walked forward towards Michael.
“I know him. He is a Trill Scientist that was exiled from Trill Society for his endangering experiments in Genetic Manipulation with Borg technology.” responds Trixie.
Michael began to sweat heavily, He knew that Trixie wasn’t going to like what he was also about to say.
“Yes, that is correct. He had also asked me to meet him.” says Michael.
Gianni and Trixie began to worry more. They both looked at each other with the concerned look on their face.
Michael? What did he ask of you?” asked Trixie.
Michael slowly turned towards his bedroom doorway and began to walk towards it. Then he stopped.
“He wants to me join with his symbiont.” says Michael.
Trixie’s eyes opened wildly.
“He asked you to join with his symbiont! Don’t you know what this could mean!” states Trixie in a loud voice.
Michael knew this was bad.
“Keep your voice down. I know and yes, I know what this would mean. If I am founded out about this I could potentially be asked to go back to trilled to either have the symbiont removed, which would kill me in the process or never be able to go to trill ever again.” says Michael.
Gianni was shocked at knowing this. She never knew of the penalties of Trill custom.
“Ok Michael, you asked us here for a reason. Which I believe I know what you are asking. You are wanting me to take you to him and for Trixie to accompany you?” says Gianni
Michael was glad that he didn’t have to say that.
“Yes I am asking you that and yes Trixie, I want you there as well.” say Michael
Trixie was shocked at what she is being asked of.
“But why Michael? Why are you doing this?” asks Trixie.
“At this moment of time, I haven’t agreed to join with him. I said I would think about it with an open mind, and I told him that I want to have a choice in doing this as well, plus I need you there to assess him on his condition. There is more going on then what he is allowing me to know.” says Michael.
Trixie’s eye softly eased up. She was more complacent then before.
“So if you decided not to go through with it, you can leave?” ask Gianni.
“Yes, that was the conditions I set with him” replies Michael.
Trixie was still worried but just not as worried. She was worried about Michael’s safety if he decided to go through with this and if he was to be founded out.
“Are you sure about this Michael?” asks Trixie.
“Yes Trixie, I’m sure” replies Michael with his soft toned voice.
Gianni looked at Michael. She walked slowly to him and placed her hand on his shoulder.
“Alright, look like we have an agreement. Neither myself nor Trixie will speak about this to anyone unless you wish us to. Are you ok with this Trixie.” says Gianni
Trixie looked scared and worried still. Michael moved away from Gianni and Michael cuddled her. Trixie eased up and relaxed. She was thankful that Michael did that.
Michael unwrapped his arms around Trixie and placed his hands on her shoulder.
“Trixie I know you don’t like this but I am asking as a friend to support me on this, and Braydon and Sammy especially aren’t to know about this.” says Michael.
Trixie looked at Michael. And as always she nodded. Michael knew she was ok with it.
“Ok Michael, I won’t.” says Trixie.
Gianni clapped her hands together.
“Great, it’s settled. Do you have the coordinates of where he is at?” asks Gianni.
Michael walked over to his desk and taps on his console. He grabbed his PADD and noted down the coordinates.
“I have them right here on this PADD.” says Michael
Trixie and Gianni smiled and began to walk to the door to head out of the quarters, then Michael just realized.
“Wait…….. What are we going to say to the crew about why are we heading to this system?” says Michael
Gianni stopped and turned back to Michael.
“I will say that you are being asked to assistance this man with a situation regarding his mental capacity in an operation that he has been asked to conduct for a patient. And he wishes for you to consult and assess the patient on mental capacity as a precautionary as well.” say Gianni.
Michael was shocked that she thought of that pretty quickly.
Gianni turned back around and walked out of the quarters and quickly says, “See you on the Bridge.”
Michael smiled at the support that Gianni is giving. He turns to Trixie who is giving a concerned face as well.
“Trixie are you sure you are alright with this?” asks Michael.
Trixie looks as Michael and softly smiles and says, “I am alright with this, I just don’t want anything to happen to you, especially with the joining process, cause once you joined your personality changes as well, I just don’t want to feel neglected from this change.”
Michael total forget about this, he didn’t think of how it would change him and his habits and personality as such. He tilted his head down and quickly breathed in and out. And tilted his head back up to face her and he says, “Nothing would change the friendship that I have with you. Nothing will.”
Trixie smiled, she looked relieved with what he said. She quickly turned towards the door and left. Michael smiled that he has helped settled her fear. He knows that he needs to keep an open perspective on this.
He turns towards the windows of his quarters to look out into space. He thought to himself for a moment, “When one door closes, another one opens”.
He know he is doing the right thing. He head to his room and grabs his things together and grabs a bag from underneath his bed in a draw and places it on his bed and he also grabs, a change of clothes and some PADD.
He zips up the bag and grabs the bag one hand, and turns towards the doorway of the main quarters, but stop next to the drawers which has a photo framed of him and Braydon on their wedding day on Qo’nos, he softly smiles and rubs the side of the frame with his other hand, whilst softly tracing the edging of the frame.
He closes his eyes and the image of the wedding went flooding through him, the heat from planet temperature on the day, the traditional Klingon food that was on the table which no one touched except for Braydon’s Klingon friend that he brought the ceremony, the moment that they shared the passion kiss when they said “I Do” to each other.
Michael eyes opened and he felt a tear running down his cheek, he softly brushed it off and continued to walk toward the door of the quarters and softly places the bag on the couch before exiting out of the room.
Michael walked towards the turbolift and the doors to the turbolift opens and he walks in.
“Deck 1, Bridge” says Michael.
The turbolift doors closed and it proceeded to head towards his destination.
Michael placed his hands behind his back and softly shifted from side to side. He thought to himself, “Why haven’t they thought of playing some music in the turbolifts when you’re waiting?”.
Michael sighed and shrugged his shoulders to the disappointment.
The doors to the turbolift opened and he walked onto the bridge. Michael could see Braydon talking to the con officer, he softly smiles at him. Braydon gave a soft grin back in return. Michael continued to walk to the banister and walked around it to the seat next the Gianni on the left side of the Captain chair.
My initial thought of the Intrepid bridge was, cozy and efficient, he just didn’t like the colour of the walls and floor.
Gianni looked to Michael and placed her hand out for the PADD that Michael had. Michael gave her the PADD and she quickly read the coordinates of where they are taking Michael and Trixie to.
“Helm, set course for the Cheldor System Warp 7.5.”orders Gianni
Con officer quickly returns to his station and taps in the orders that Captain Ramosa had requested.
Braydon looked at Michael and Gianni, he looked confused and turns and to the Tactical station and speaks to the Tactical officer.
“Aye Captain, setting course to Cheldor System, Warp 7.5.” responds helmsman.
“Engage.” says Gianni.
Gianni quickly stands up and says, “All senior officer are to report to the briefing in a half an hour, I will be in my ready room Counsellor, please come with me.”
Michael was curious at why she wanted to speak to him after agreeing to doing this. Braydon looked at the Captain and says, “Aye sir, All senior officer are to report to the briefing in half an hour.”
Gianni walks to the doors of her ready room, and Michael stands up and begins to walk to her room, when Braydon intercepts Michael at the stairs and pulls Michael to the side.
“Michael, how are you this morning? Did you and Trixie have a fun morning on the Holodeck?” ask Braydon.
Michael was relieve that Braydon didn’t ask about the transmission that he took in their quarters earlier.
“It was great, Trixie really enjoyed herself. I think she should do more often.” replies Michael
Braydon smiled and says, “That’s good to hear, I do agree she should get out more often. By the way…..”
Michael knew he spoke to soon.
“What was that transmission from that Trill scientist about? Does that have something to do with the everyone meeting up soon?” asked Braydon.
Michael knew Gianni was going to state to everyone about what is going on soon, so he thought to “white lie” and say, “Yes, that transmission does have to do with the meeting shortly. Just wait until then, ok.”
Braydon looked puzzled with the response he was given. He knows if Michael knew about something he would tell him. But this was definitely different of Michael to say that. But Braydon didn’t want to push it, so he left it as it was.
“Ok Michael. Oh and another thing?” says Braydon
“Yes? What is it?” says Michael.
“Do you want to have dinner on the holodeck with our ‘’favourite program’’?” says Braydon with a wink of his left eye.
Michael knew what he meant. Michael blushed and grinned at the idea.
“Well, I don’t know. I may have to have some convincing to be done?” says Michael ever so sweetly and seductively
Michael’s hand softly brushes against Braydon’s groin for a moment. Braydon went red in the face so slowly.
With that Michael turns away and enter through the doors of the Captain’s ready room. Leaving Braydon for a moment ‘’compose’’ himself before turning around.
Michael looks to Gianni and she looks up.
“Michael, please sit.” says Gianni
Michael walks to the chair in front of her desk. He softly giggled to himself as he sit down.
Gianni looked at Michael with a confused face and said, “What did you do to Braydon, before coming into my ready room?
Michael couldn’t help but laugh. Michael went red in the face and was having difficulty in breathing. He slowly calmed himself and says, “Well, I just left Braydon with a posting to deal with!”
Gianni mouth dropped and she began to laugh and with that Michael resumed in laughing as well with Gianni.
They both laughed for a couple of minute until they tried to calm themselves enough. Gianni face was red and tears were rolling down her face. Michael face was red.
Gianni fixed her hair and asked, “I’m guessing he is curious about the briefing room meeting that I announced?
Michael pulled his vest down and wiped the tears from his face and said, “He did, but I was leaving it you to say something about it.”
Gianni nodded her head with agreement and said, “Yes, that if he doesn’t need more time.”
And they both laughed again. Michael was grabbing his stomach. He loves laughing, just not that much when he stomach hurts. Gianni was again fixing her hair and wiping away the tears from her face.
Michael look at Gianni and with a straight face he said, “Make sure he is kept busy when I am gone.”
Gianni looked at Michael and she knew what he meant.
“I will Michael, don’t your worry about that.” says Michael.
Michael smiled. He knew that Braydon worry a lot when Michael is away on mission for a few days. Braydon hated the idea of not having me around where he knew I was safe. Plus Braydon is a very needy person when it comes to satisfying him and all.
“Michael, are you sure you are ok with this?” says Gianni.
Michael looked at Gianni and softly frowned and says, “Gianni, I am sure and yes, I am aware that I may come back different a little bit. I know the risks.”
Gianni shifted in her sit and laid back a little bit.
“I know, I know Michael, I am just making sure.” says Gianni.
Michael softly smiled again. He stood up and walked towards the door and he stopped. Gianni looked and waited. Michael turns to her and says, “Just keep a transporter lock on me just in case ok?”
Gianni smiled and says, “One step ahead of you”
With that, Michael turns back toward the door and walks through it door as it opens. Braydon is consulting with the operation’s officer on the other side of the room. Braydon softly smirks at Michael for leaving him high and dry before. Michael slowly walked to the sitting near the Captain’s chair and softly frowns.
As Michael sits down and lays his head again the banister, he closes his eyes once again and images of Braydon at Starfleet Academy came to his mind, the first day they meet and the dates they went on during their academy years. He smiled to each image the appeared in his mind.
Michael hears a soft voice, whispering into his ear.
The tone of the voice and the sensation of the air coming from the voice gave Michael goosebumps, and Michael felt very ‘’firm’’ in his pants.
He opens his eyes and he sees Braydon staring at him.
“Looks like you need a moment too.” says Braydon with a wink and a smile at the same time.
Michael quickly places his hands over his groin and shifted slightly in his place.
Braydon looked at him and gave a cheeky grin with a soft laugh at the same time.

An hour after the meeting, the senior staff were told that, the transmission that Michael had received was a request from a scientist, who is needing assistance from both Michael and Trixie down on the planet surface. Braydon requested to accompany both of them to the planet, and as promised, Gianni declined his request and told him that he needs to have a full manifest of the crew evaluation, ship’s system reports and ship’s weaponry compliments in todays and not to hand it in without having it checked over twice.
Gianni knew how to keep everyone busy on the Olympus, but she likes to have a ready and able ship for whatever the circumstances are.
Michael returned to his quarters to grab his bag off the couch.
“Burnett to Markus” says Braydon.
Michael was just about to walk out of the quarters when he heard that.
“Markus here, go ahead.” says Michael.
“Can you please report to our bedroom.” says Braydon.
Michael grinned and quickly walked to the bedroom and he saw Braydon in the bed underneath the sheets.
Braydon softly smiled and winks at Michael and he softly taps the top of the bed, to indicate to jump in. Michael dropped the bag on the floor and walked to bed where it was empty. Michael took his shoes off and got into bed.
Michael move his hand to Braydon’s chest and all Michael could feel was Braydon warm, softly haired chest. He moved his hand up to Braydon’s neck and slowly moved it down to just above Braydon’s groin.
Braydon growled softly to Michael’s hand movement. Braydon’s hands went to Michael’s uniform and he slowly unbuttoned it Michael’s vest while softly kisses his neck. Michael loves being kissed on the neck. Slowly pieces of Michael’s uniform were being pulled off of Michael. First the vest, then his shirt, next was his pants and eventually his jocks.
Both of them were cuddling and kissing each other for a while. Braydon didn’t want to be aggressive with Michael when it came to making love with him. They began to softly rub each other and softly bite each other on the neck’s.
Michael was teasing Braydon’s nipple while he moved his head over Braydon’s other nipple.
A loud voice boomed with the speaker system in the quarters.
“Bridge to Commander Burnett and Counsellor Markus.” says Gianni.
Michael was ignoring Gianni’s voice, Braydon growled with pleasure and annoyance.
“Yes Captain, go ahead.” Says Braydon.
“Is Michael with you?” asks Gianni.
Michael pulled his head from out of the blankets, and huffily responded, “In a manner of speaking?
Braydon looked at Michael when he said that, he began to go red in the face.
Gianni’s voice began to shake in response, “Well…..umm……… we have arrived in the Cheldor system and ummmmm…… Transporter room 1 is waiting for you. Ramosa out”
Michael laughed at what he heard and Braydon was shocked and became more redder in the face.
Braydon softly placed his hand on Michael’s face and with one finger pull his face toward his and passionately kissed Michael on the lips.
“Michael?” says Braydon as he pulls Michael’s face away from his.
Michael looks to Braydon, “hmmmm, yes babe?”
Braydon frowned and says, “Come back safe to me.”
Michael smiled and says, “I always do.”
With that Michael jumps out of bed, grabs his clothes and redresses himself, grabs his shoes and the bag he dropped on the floor and walks towards the doorway of bedroom leading to the main part of their quarters.
Michael stops and turns to Braydon still lying in bed still under the sheets. Michael walks to Braydon’s side of the bed and Michael place’s his index and middle fingers of his left hand on Braydon’s chin and pulls Braydon’s lips to his lips and kisses softly.
Michael softly whispers, “I love you” as he pulls himself away from Braydon’s lips.
Braydon whispers back, “I love you too”
Michael removes his hand and continues to walk to the door of their quarters and heads to the Transporter Room 1.
Michael quickly thought to himself once more, “If only I have 5 more minutes and we wouldn’t have heard Gianni at all.”
Michael smiled at his walks into the turbolift.

These are the latest chapters of what I have written so far. Over 20 thousand in the last 6 - 9 months of writing.

I know there probably some writings mistakes which are minor, grammer is a different thing but, hopefully it's readers and makes sense.

Would like to hear what everyone thinks?

Hey Dax,
I wanted to start by saying thank you for inviting us into this world you’ve created. I feel very privileged that you’ve shared your creation with us. As a newer member of the fleet I thought I was in a useful position to provide feedback. I’m new enough to not have fallen sway to what I’m sure are your copious charms so that you can trust my comments are not the gushing ego stroking of an inauthentic sycophant and, since I am so new, if you hate what I have to say you can temporarily redirect your writing talents to penning a dissertation on why I should be exiled from the fleet. Either way you’re covered. While I know the road to hell can often be paved with good intentions, I hope you will find my well meaning comments useful rather than seeing them as the overly critical ravings of a mad man on the internet. (Feedback is a two way street, so feel free to offer suggestions or criticisms about how I might be more useful to you.)

My overall impression is that there is really a lot of interesting things going on. I especially enjoy the psychological issues you play with throughout your story. The battle with Braydon of Borg on stardate 86921.17 was reminiscent of, but also a unique take on, Acting Captain Riker’s challenge facing Locutus in the Best of Both Worlds. As those are my favorite episodes of all time, for precisely the themes you are working with, I hope you will take that as the highest possible praise I know how to give.

You raise several very interesting issues on Stardate 84780.83. The first is the confrontation between Braydon, Michael and Captain Ramosa. I feel like this section is just a bit out of character for Michael. From what we know of Starfleet regulations, the counselor has the same level of authority as the chief medical officer when it comes to the mental health of the crew, that is, they supersede the captain’s. I would have expected that Michael would rely on his authority not only because it would be consistent with what we know of Starfleet regulations, but also because on stardate 86921.17 we see Michael default to his position of authority as a Borg expert to cow Captain Cruz so it would be internally consistent with the narrative and character as well.

The second issue you raise is Michael’s series of thoughts on the way to sickbay. As a victim of a violent act it is sadly unsurprising that he would have these victim blaming thoughts, “what did I do wrong”, “did I deserve it” and so on. However, Michael is also trained as a psychologist, so on an intellectual level he should be aware that these thoughts are inappropriate and potentially harmful. I would have absolutely loved to see you explore the inner conflict there, would the inner therapist win out, or would those tactics seem hollow, how would he grow professionally from this experience? Though I recognize that this is your work and not a choose your own adventure specifically tailored to me, I still would be eager to see that section expanded on, even if it were just in a conversation here on the forum.

While on the subject of Michael’s character, I really would have enjoyed seeing you expand on his issue remembering people’s names. That seems like a uniquely challenging issue for a therapist, let alone a therapist turned captain. It seems to be introduced only to be left by the way side. For instance, he has trouble remembering the names of junior officers that serve as his bridge crew, but he knows the names of the captains of the Crazystone and Denver? I also struggled with it a bit in light of the fact he seems to form such close, even intimate, attachments with senior staff.

The final thing I would like to note is that Michael has a very informal relationship with the captain. This may be something you’ve already covered as you’ve continued to write so it may be nothing, but if you haven’t I think it might be worth exploring how they became so close.

Well, that’s it. I don’t want to overwhelm you with comments, but I did want to demonstrate respect for your efforts by giving them the time and thought they deserve. I hope you found my thoughts useful, but I am aware that I am giving free advice, which is all too often worth what you paid for it. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to reading and discussing anything else you might wish to share.

I have to admit, my intention wasn't to go down that line, but after re-reading it and taking in what you said, I have to admit it does look like it and I'm impressed that i did that..

That section is unique for a reason, Michael is a very subdued character in his response, which does get explained in a later chapter that i done but haven't posted yet. But I wont reveal any more information on that.

Quote by PlasticCenturion

The reason why i went along with this in particular, was that even in a rational sense of thought, each person has a fight or flight response to anything in life, so with that i made michael's response along those line. He is very timid when it comes to authority but once you read the next chapter you will see the change to this.

Quote by PlasticCenturion

I can see what you are talking about, but i wanted to bring a sense of uniqueness to characters like the best friends vibes that Michael has with Wilcox's and Jays's characters in the story.

I appreciate that time you had in reading my story. I hope that with the suggestions that you have provided, that i will attempt to adjust and manage the story, cause i appreciate all feedbacks.

Chapter 6

A NEW LOOK WITH A NEW SLUG.

(Two and a half years before the events took place)

(U.S.S. Olympus)
(Deck 3, Turbolift)
(Stardate: 84357.42)

Michael is waiting for the Turbolift to arrive on Deck 4 as he is proceeding to the Transporter Room to transport to Cheldor V. The doors of the Turbolift open and Michael walks out of the Turblift and begins to walk to the Transporter Room, he walks past a few crewmember along the way, all giving a nod to say hello. He nodded back in response.

As he approaches the doors to the Transporter Room, he stops just a metre away from the doors and begins to think about what kind of person he is going to become if he decided to take the operation to be joined “illegally”. He knows that a whole lot of things would changes, his mannerisms, his walk, his attire, everything. Michael knew he was over thinking the situation and shook his head and remembered, he is there to keep an open minded and decided whether or not he would take the operation or not.

With that, Michael continued walking and the door of the Transporter Room opened. As Michael walked in, Trixie was talking to the Transporter operator who is commanding the station of the Transporter System and Gianni was waiting patiently for Michael’s arrival to the room. Michael was startled by her being there.

“I thought to see you both off, which does sucks as I was hoping to accompany you both to the Planet but as they say, the Captain has to remain on the ship”, Says Gianni

Michael looked at Gianni with a soft smile and walks towards her.
“Which is probably a good things, because if Braydon had his way, he would have ignored that rule and tagged along regardless”, says Michael.

Gianni nodded in response and sighed. “Yup, he definitely would have”, says Gianni.

She begins to walk over to the Transporter console station, and turns to the Transporter operator.
“Your relived, Lieutenant”, says Gianni.

The Lieutenant turns his heads and nods at her command. He taps a few commands into the console and walks away from the station and out of the room.
Michael and Trixie look at Gianni, they were sure as to why she relived him from his station.

Gianni walks up the step of the console area for the Transporter console.
“Starfleet has requested the Olympus’s presents in the Maelstrom to check out an unusual signal coming from Telsa 1 near the system’s star” says Gianni.

Trixie was shocked at the news of what Gianni had said, Michael frowned with disappointment, he knew that this was going to be a long week.
“I am going to leave a shuttlecraft down on the planet’s surface for you two to leave in once your business is concluded, but I am hopeful that we will be back before you will need to use it” says Gianni.

“When did you hear about these orders?” asks Michael.
Gianni didn’t say anything to his question, which was odd as he has never had an unanswered question before from her.

“Does this signal have anything to do with the Greek lettering that was displayed on my medical console before I came here?” asked Trixie

Michael was confused at what Trixie was talking about. Gianni quickly looked at Trixie and had this stone look in her eyes.

But still she said nothing.

Trixie and Michael were both puzzled as to what is going on with her and what the Greek lettering was all about as well.

“Allow me to transport you both to the surface”, says Gianni.
Michael and Trixie walked to the Transporter Pad and took their positions.

“I will see you both back on my ship, once I have checked this signal out”, says Gianni.

“Yes Ma’am”, says Trixie and Michael.

Gianni smiled and commenced tapping on the console.
“Energizing!”, says Gianni.

Both Michael and Trixie’s body materialized from the Transporter Pad and disappeared off the ship of the Olympus.

And as they both disappeared, Gianni smiled turned into a frown. She slowly taps on the console and locks the console out, and walks away from the console. She continues to walks toward the door of the Transporter Room and stops in the doorway of the room.
She turns to the Transporter Pad and she whispers, “I’m thankful, that you both aren’t on the ship.”
She turns back to the doorway and proceeds out the room.

She taps her commbadge, “Ramosa to Bridge” says Gianni.
“Bridge here Captain?” says Braydon.
“Commander, can you please Transport a Type-9 Shuttlecraft to the planet’s surface with adequate supplies in the shuttle for both Counsellor Markus and Doctor Wilcox, We are leaving the System.” Says Gianni.

“But Sir, I thought we were staying in orbit of the planet?” says Braydon.
Gianni frowned at the thought of leaving them behind, but she knows the all other orders are rescinded when dealing with the Omega threat.
“I know, Commander. But you have your orders, please carry them out. And set course to Starbase 12. Maximum warp”, says Gianni.

“Aye Sir, Setting course for Starbase 12. Maximum warp. Transporting Shuttlecraft and supplies to Cheldor V as ordered”, replies Braydon to Gianni’s orders.

“I will be on the Bridge once, we have arrived at Starbase 12, until then Commander you have the Bridge. Ramosa out”, says Gianni.

On the planet’s surface, Michael and Trixie dematerialized in the home of Doctor Vek on Cheldor V. Michael looked around his surrounding and saw a lot of diverse artefacts of holographical Borg technology along one wall, with a shelf full of books on the other covering from medical terminologies to subspace particle research to quantum mechanics. Trixie was in awe of the artwork was on the opposite end of the room. She could see a few earth artworks, which were holographical, as well as a few Bajoran and Cardassian statues.

A door opens with the Doctor Vek walking through it.
“Ah.. You have arrived. I’m guessing that this young lady is your ship’s medical officer?” asks Jilura.

Michael turns to Jilura’s voice and replies, “Yes, this is Doctor Trixie Wilcox of the U.S.S. Olympus.”

Trixie looks at Jilura and notices he is walking with a cane. She begins to walks towards Jilura.
“Nice to meet you, Doctor Vek. How’s your leg?” asks Trixie.
Michael was curious as to asking of that question. Jilura stops walking towards them when he heard her question.

“Why my dear, why do you ask that?” asks Jilura with a suspicious tone in his voice.
Trixie pulled her tricorder out and quickly scans the Doctor. As she taps on the device, she notices weird reading coming from Jilura.
“Well, just as I thought. Your not real.” Says Trixie

Michael looked at Trixie and turned his head back towards the doctor.
Jilura frowned and shook his head. “So, you know I’m a hologram.” Says Hologram Jilura.

Trixie nodded at his question. “Yes, the real Doctor Jilura Vek, had sustained injuries to his spine which impaired him from walking.” Says Trixie

Michael was shocked at this new information which is he is hearing now. Michael never saw any mentioning of Jilura being injured and not able to walk.
“Trixie? Are you sure about this?” asks Michael.

Trixie nodded again to the question.
“Yes, I am sure of this, as I was the leading doctor’s assistant to his operation a year ago.” Says Trixie.

Hologram Jilura smiled and his cane disappeared. He began to walk more normal than before the pair of them. “Unfortunately, she is correct. Doctor Jilura Vek did sustain injuries to his spine, that the leading doctor that was trying to repair, but was unsuccessful in doing so.” The hologram stopped walking towards them and turns his attention to his left.

“Please sit” says Hologram Jilura with his arm extend to his left and his hand point in the direction to where he was stating to sit.

As Michael and Trixie looked in the direction of where he was pointing, a pair of white chairs appeared out of thin air. The hologram can make commands in making the necessary arrangement of making holographic items without saying a word.

Michael and Trixie walked in the direction of the chair and sat down into them.
“Doctor Jilura Vek made wishes to not have any information indicating that he has become unable to walk, I suspects it’s due to his pride of vulnerabilities in front of others. But in the few months, after the operation failed his health slowly began to deteriorate and he began making a hologram of himself.” Says hologram Jilura.

Michael and Trixie listened to the hologram for an hour explain about how the real Doctor Jilura Vek began making the hologram after failed attempts to do so. Trixie elaborated that, due the muscle and nerve damage that he had sustained to the spine that, there was a possibility of his health declining, but it wasn’t suppose to happen until after a couple of years. The discussion lead on for a good 20 minutes with it leading to the reason for why they came to the planet.

“After Jilura had made me, I was order to pretend to be him, continue with his research on genetic mutations with Borg Technology with extreme caution of not endangering any form of life. His research also expanded into other field areas, I was able to make starship weapon frequency modulations against Borg ships and adaptive nanites to repair cellular repairs to skin tissues as well as adapting the Borg Ocular implant design into hand held energy based weapons to increase accuracy as well as energy input and output. But whilst this continued, he requested that a suitable replacement for his symbiont was to be made when his health was in danger.” Say the hologram.

Michael and Trixie eye’s shot open. The “real” Doctor Jilura Vek was dying.
“When did his health get worse?” ask Trixie.

Michael knew that his time to wait and think wasn’t going to happen as he hoped for. While Trixie was talking to the hologram about how the “real” Jilura condition was. Michael stood up.

Trixie stopped in mid-sentence and looked at Michael. The hologram Jilura looked at Michael as well.
“Trixie, can you do the operation?” ask Michael.

Trixie’s mouth dropped. She was lost for words.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” says Trixie.

Trixie knew that Michael made up his mind from the moment he heard of the doctor’s condition. She also knew that he wasn’t changing his mind about this neither.
“You didn’t answer my question. Can you do the operation? Asks Michael.

“Yes. Yes I can do the operation.” Replies Trixie.

“How soon can you be ready?” asks Michael.

The Hologram smiled knowing that his creator was going to living on in a different person.
“I should be ready in an hour.” Replies Trixie.

Michael nodded to her response. With that Trixie stood up and walked towards the door with her bag. She turns around and looks towards where Michael and the Hologram were sitting.
“Where can I set up and prepare for the operation?” asks Trixie.

The Hologram looked at her, “Through that door in front of you and you take a left and it’s the fourth door on your left. I will go and inform the Doctor of what is going on and prepare him as well.” says the hologram.

Michael sat in the chair while Trixie and the Hologram went about their ways. Michael knew when the hologram explained about what had happened with the real Doctor Vek and his injuries that he has sustained, along with the interesting breakthrough that he made.

Trixie walked back through the door she left out of and walked towards Michael.
“Michael? Do you know what this means? Are you absolutely sure about this?” says Trixie.

Michael turned in the direction of where Trixie’s voice came from.
“How do you think Braydon is going to react to this, if he finds out about this?” says Trixie.

“Trixie, I know and I have thought about what could happen, if Braydon finds out, I will cross that bridge when it comes. But right now, Doctor Vek needs your assistance.” says Michael.

Trixie knew that Michael had made his mind up. There wasn’t any way she could change his course of action. She nodded and turned towards the door begins to walk over to the door. Michael quickly walked up behind her, and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Trixie turned around to him and looked at his face, Michael could see a tear forming in her eye. Michael tilted his head down to look at her and softly smiled, and could see that Trixie really cared about what I was planning on do.

Trixie’s and Michael’s friendship was like a sibling relationship minus the fact of being born from the same mother and father and all. But they were really close, when Michael was conflicted with doubt and couldn’t tell Braydon, due to him being away on missions that are classified, which he knew there was something going on. Michael would confide with her and what he felt and what he is unsure about and they would share the same things.

Trixie has had a few guys in her life that didn’t end so well in the long run and he was always there for her at a minutes noticed.

He could tell that she was worried if that would all change with the symbiont being placed inside him.
Michael hugged her tightly, and whispered a few words into her ear.

Trixie smile with relief and a tear trickled down her cheek.

Michael loosened his grip.
“Nothing changes our friendship between you and me. Or the others, it’s just that there’s another person who would be giving their opinion when we all talk from now on, that’s all. Besides the memories and feelings that the Vek symbiont would be sharing with me” says Michael

Trixie smiled and wiped away her eye’s of the left over tears on cheek and under her eye’s. She turns away from Michael and continues to walk out the door. Michael knew he had a lot of surprises that will happen after the operation. But he knew there was one bridge that he will have problems crossing. And that was if and when Braydon finds out about this operation. But for now, he won’t mention a thing at all.

An hour had past and Michael was in a medical operations room. Michael was laying on a bed with a white gown covering his body except for a hole that was shaped in a square revealing his stomach. On the opposite side of Michael was the real Doctor Jilura Vek, he looked very white as if he hasn’t seen sunlight for a long time. His hair was neat and tidy but long and white. He laid on an operating bed as well with the same gown covering his body with a square hole showing his stomach as well. Trixie looked at Michael.

“Are you ready?” asks Trixie.

Michael turns his head and lowers his head to look at her eye to eye. “Ready as I can ever be” says Michael.

Trixie grabs the hypospray filled with a Metrazene and injected it into Jilura’s neck. Trixie sees Jilura smile. Trixie knew that he was in pain from his lifelong injuries, he must be in a lot of pain.

Michael looked to where Trixie was, “Is everything alright?”

“Yes, Jilura’s pain must have been quite high.” Says Trixie.

Michael wished that the circumstances for this were different. But there’s no turning back now.

Trixie grabbed the laser scalpel and begin to make an incision into Jilura’s stomach to allow access and room for her hand and symbiont to be pulled out and detaching it from him.

Michael was laying there, on the bed breathing carefully and calmly. He knew of what happens to trills that are selected incorrectly from not having proper training.
Trixie was began to pull the symbiont out of Jilura’s stomach. The symbiont was quite large, it was bigger than her hand, luckily that the Jilura hologram was able to assist with the operation. Trixie handle the symbiont carefully.

“Jilu, can you please clamp and cut the cord off on the patient from the symbiont, please” says Trixie.
Since there was two Jilura’s in the room, Trixie made it necessary to nickname the hologram “Jilu”, to save herself from becoming confused with who she is speaking to.
“Yes Doctor, cutting the cord now.” says Jilu.

Jilu placed the clamp just half an inch below the symbiont to where it connects the symbiont and Jilura.

Jilura looked at his holographic-self and smiled.

“Thank you for helping me, son” says Jilura.

Jilu looked down at his creator, “No sir, thank you” says Jilu.

Jilu cuts the cord connecting the symbiont to Jilura. Immediately Jilura’s eyes quickly shut, and he was gone.

Trixie moved her hand with the symbiont over to where Michael was laying.

Jilu was about to make an incision on Michael’s stomach.

Michael could feel his breathing was coming more frequent with each breath.

Jilu made the incision large enough to allow the symbiont to fit in.

Trixie began to approach Michael’s stomach with the symbiont in hand.
“Can you lift the opening of the patient’s stomach for the symbiont please, Jilu” says Trixie.

Jilu lifted the opening for her.

“Well, here it comes. Wow. Those were the same words when Braydon and I had……”
Trixie began inserting the symbiont into Michael.
Michael felt the slug being placed in.

“Yup. Same feeling just minus the whole moaning and biting.”
And with that the symbiont was in Michael’s stomach.

Trixie grabbed the dermal regenerator and sealed Michael’s stomach up.
Michael’s eyes shut as well.

Michael’s mind was whirling with images and feelings for the Vek symbiont. He saw all of Vek’s past host.

“Friya, Dinos, Thelden, Jaret, Lintra, Caisis, Vernet, Kival”

All the images of the children that his symbiont has experienced. The feelings of loved ones lost. The skills and knowledge of all the things that was accomplished throughout its life with other hosts.

Michael’s eye slowly open up and his facial mannerism changed, he smiled with a tilt to the left and his left eye squinting harder than the right side.
Trixie was dermal regenerating Jilura’s stomach from the incision that was made to remove the symbiont.

Jilu looked at Michael and it could tell that his creator has lived on inside of its new host.

“Hello my old friend” says Michael.

“Sir, how are you feeling” say Jilu.
Michael thought about how he felt, he knew he mentally felt different, but physically he felt like he was pumped up and ready to run around and jump through hoops.

“I feel like I had my finger stuck inside of a warp core and energized from it to getting physical for some odd reason” says Michael.

Michael thought about why he felt like that. He could recall from one of his host, that Thelden, was a champion wrestler with martial art capabilities which his past host learnt while on earth as well.

Trixie grabbed her tricorder, and passively scanned Michael to see his vital.

“Well, it looks like the symbiont and you are ok. It has responded well to the operation. Just take it easy.” says Trixie.
Michael looked at Trixie, he smiled at her and gave her a hug. Trixie was shocked by the sudden hug.
“Thank you Trixie.” says Michael.
Trixie looked puzzled as to why he is thanking her.

“Why are you thanking me” says Trixie.
“Cause, I wasn’t sure if you were able to push herself through with it, Cause Michael wasn’t sure himself” says Michael.

Trixie stepped back. Confused at the third person answer.
“Ummm, why are you speaking in third person?” says Trixie.

“Sorry, I meant I wasn’t sure myself. I think, it’s just information overload and needing to really think before speaking, which is kinda new, cause I never had an issue with speaking and using the right words in sentences.” says Michael.

Jilu turns to Trixie, “It’s common for some trill who haven’t been training themselves for the joining of host to symbiont. He just needs time and patience in thinking and separating memories and names from his past host lives to who he is.” says Jilu.

Trixie was concerned regardless, so thought that it would be best that she kept an eye on him for a while.

The next few hours was fascinating for Michael, he was looking at Doctor Vek’s research that he studying on years ago before his health started to become serious.
Doctor Vek was looking into the application of using Borg Nanites that could be used to spreading vaccines with the use of a torpedo casing without risking medical staff to being exposed.

The way Jilura was looking at ways to improve life was off, but he knew there was a method to his madness.

“What are you reading Michael?” ask Trixie
Michael looked at Trixie, she must have come into the room without him knowing. She slowly approached Michael.

“Just some theorizes that Jilura was thinking of doing. It’s amazing!” replies Michael.
Michael passes her the PADD that he was reading from. Trixie takes the PADD from him and starts reading the technical information that Michael had mentioned.

“Reprogaming the nanites to analyze and develop antibodies within the body of those exposed to certain diseases with the use of the exist disease. It has the potential to cause minor discomfort for the patient, as it causes the disease to rapidly accelerate in order to procure the necessary antibodies to cure the patient. If this is to succeed I would need to have a few patients that would be willing to allow the nanites to do their job.”
Trixie looked disgusted with the thought of using live subjects to test out a theory.

“This is amazing? The use of human beings?” say Trixie.
Michael frowned when Trixie questioned him on what she read.
“No. Not that technique or the use of patients. The theory to being able to use nanites in the fashion is correct diseases, but the next entry is what I found interesting.” says Michael.
Trixie looked back the PADD.

“With the incident at Vendor 4, I have thought to rethink the applications in being able to improve life. So the use of nanites on a planetary level should never be used regardless of the high outcome of improving life and removing of diseases. So I am refocusing my efforts in improving current Federation technology in all fields with the use of the nanites. One idea I have thought seeing if I could find a way to adapt the use of remodulation on ship’s shielding systems to majorly reduce damage and being able to absorb the incoming energy to re-energize lose of power from ship’s systems.”
Trixie saw the stardate of the two entries. There was a 6 months gap between the two entries.

“So, he had an epiphany, only after his experiment killed those people on the planet.” says Trixie.
Passing back the PADD to Michael.

“I did or he did in this case, and I recall what he felt when his theory had the opposite effect to what it was theorized.” says Michael.
Trixie was standing near Michael, while he was sitting in the egg seat that he had request to Jilu to make for him. The egg seat was a big mental framed alcove with a big soft seat and backing to relax in. The frame was white, with the pillows were white as well to match the décor of the study room that Jilura used to research things and ponder on his next idea. Next to where Michael was sitting were some similar sitting from early when they first came to the planet, with a small coffee table that was metal framed, colored white with a soft edging marble top. On top of the table was a cup of tea, it had a citrus smell to it, with bergamot flavour.
Trixie sat on the seat nearest to Michael.

“And on that note, how are you feeling? Any unusual pain or discomfort?” asks Trixie.
Michael places the PADD that Trixie had given back to him on the coffee table, he grabs the cup of tea and bring the cup to his lips and slowly blows on it to cool it off and stops blowing for a brief second.

“Just noticing the change in beverages preferences. I had never had this tea before the joining, and now I drink as if I had this before in the last couple of hours.” says Michael.

“It’s just one of things that you will have to get used to. Don’t be surprised if your attire changes as well.” says Michael.
Michael resumed blowing on his tea, and raised his left eye brow. He takes a sip of the tea, and places the cup down on the table.

“Well I had thought of, instead of wearing the slacks that I usually wear, I was thinking of trying out some pants that would be tight, like skinny jeans that was worn back on earth. I had be intrigued in wearing them.” says Michael
Trixie looked at Michael and softly laughed.

“I guess I spoke too soon.” replies Trixie.
Michael laughed very casually to Trixie’s response.

“So, how long are you planning on observing for before we leave to catch up with the Olympus?” asks Michael.
Trixie’s laughing slowly eased off.

“So you knew I was watching you. Well I wanted to be sure that there wasn’t any problems that I need to know of.” replies Trixie.

“I know. I know. You are wanting to be sure that there isn’t any unforeseeable concerns or warnings.” says Michael.
Trixie smiled when he said that. She felt glad that he could see her when she is concern or distressed about things still.

“Well, I haven’t seen anything yet. But I can continue to observing your condition while we travel back to the Olympus. Which by the way, the Olympus has sent us a message.” says Trixie.
Michael curiosity peaked. It was only a day since they had heard from them since they depart to the Maelstrom.

“What did they say?” asks Michael.

“They said that they will be at Starbase 12 for the next 5 days for repairs, it seems that they had suffered engine and weapons damage from their mission. So the Captain Ramosa had said that a vessel has been sent out to pick us up. And you are to expect a surprise when they arrive.” replies Trixie.
Michael body began to quiver with anticipation and he had a feeling that whatever the surprise was, he knew what it was.

“I already know what the surprise is.” says Michael.
Trixie looked at Michael as if he knew more than she did.
“How do you know that?” asks Trixie.
Michael slowly got up from the egg seat.

“Call it, intuition.” replies Michael.

“How long until they arrive?” asks Michael.
Trixie slowly got up and grabbed his cup and smelt it, it was intriguing her senses on what he drank.

“Lady gray?” replies Trixie.
Michael’s face scrunched up with a puzzled look.

“Ummm I don’t think I had heard of that kind of time arrival before.” says Michael.
Trixie shock her head.

“No silly. Your tea. It’s Lady Gray.” says Trixie
Michael turned to Trixie and saw her holding her cup of tea and smelling it.

“Oh I didn’t know what it was. I found it in the replicator. And if you were curious on it, you could have checked the replicator, if you were that intrigued.” says Michael.

“I will have to keep that in mind. The U.S.S. Maelstrom will be arriving in a couple of hours. I wish I had more time to make sure that you are alright and all.” Says Trixie.

Michael smiled he was excited about getting off the planet and getting home to Braydon.
But Michael had just recalled something that he didn’t think about.
“We are going to have to ask the Maelstrom to allow us to come back in a shuttle, otherwise they will have a record of me with the symbiont inside of me and we will have to make sure that no one has a medical record of me without one.” says Michael.
Trixie knew that this would need to be done. Due to her understanding of transporter technology and people with phobias of being transported.

“That shouldn’t be a problem, we can work around that situation.” says Trixie.
Michael was glad that she thought that one through.

Michael’s eye were starting to feel heavy, he felt exhausted.

“Seems like my tiredness has caught up to me. I’m going to rest for a while.” Said Michael.
Michael got up and walked over to Trixie and gave her a guy. After the hug he proceeded to walk out of the room and to his room to retire of the rest of the time until the Maelstrom arrived.

End of chapter.

I know this post is old and what not but in case some have read, i'll just note that regardless of what qualification one has as a therapist, counselor, or psychologist or what training you have received in the real world or fictional world, it doesn't make you impervious to the pain, discomfort or trauma you would received.
Plus being a victim in those cases like the one in my story, you aren't always rational in the heat of those moments, those thoughts are always there in the back of ones mind each days, it only comes out when certain situation are present at that time to which it floods in the choices you make from the initial hit to even later on.

Even professional therapist, counselors and psychologist need helped from someone who is qualified just as much to ensure that they are handling things appropriately in that moment.
