Kate Mulgrew is a flat earther? Dafuh?

Now, I loves me some Janeway.

But someone's needing to start filtering the scripts that are landing on her desk:

Feel free to facepalm right alongside.

I'm sure the phone isn't ringing off the hook anymore, but she's gotta have plenty of "Orange is the New Black" money not to do this trash.

"I understand there has been some controversy about my participation in a documentary called THE PRINCIPLE. Let me assure everyone that I completely agree with the eminent physicist Lawrence Krauss, who was himself misrepresented in the film, and who has written a succinct rebuttal in SLATE. I am not a geocentrist, nor am I in any way a proponent of geocentrism. More importantly, I do not subscribe to anything Robert Sungenis has written regarding science and history and, had I known of his involvement, would most certainly have avoided this documentary. I was a voice for hire, and a misinformed one, at that. I apologize for any confusion that my voice on this trailer may have caused. Kate Mulgrew"

Maybe Kate heard the collective facepalming heard 'round the intertubes.

Gosh knows I'm not one to begrudge a girl earnin' her dolladolla billz.

But at some point in the recording booth, surely one must actually notice the content of the words coming out of one's mouth...

I Dunno...if offered the opportunity to take money from a quack like this guy, I'd do it, then do exactly what she did and shoot the loser down publicly. Less money in the crazy's pockets, more in mine, and an opportunity to appeal to a fan base about how crazy the person was who paid me seems like a win all around. After all, anyone who is enough of a fan to be possibly swayed into watching it because of her being involved, would likely find out (just like we did here from you folks posting) that she effectively advises against it - so he & the film will likely not benefit from her "star power" as much as he might have thought.

Shortly after, there was a reply to her statement:

Trek Initiative
Figured as much, but thank you Kate Mulgrew for taking the time to respond to this situation. First thought was hoax, but misrepresentation is even worse.

Anxiously awaiting your performance in the new season of Orange Is the New Black...

Well lets take into account one thing, She's a theater performer. She didn't start on TV or in Movies, she started on Broadway. The one thing every single Broadway performer is told is: Don't turn down any work if you can do it. So it doesn't surprise me she did it and she didn't turn it down. a Trailer VO is probably [strike]1-2 hours[/strike] 30-45 Mins tops (Just saw the trailer) and her name gave her a hefty paycheck. Can't blame her for doing it.

See, I'm thinking it's more likely that someone, whether it be her agent or the producer, may have given the false impression that the vo was for something like a video game, or Z-list SyFy Sharknado-grade schlock.

If Katy's missive is to be taken at face value, which I'm willing to grant.

The real question now is what hooker's gonna have the stones to ask her about it at her next con appearance.
