In the chat I was told that we cannot team up, the only way to play is to join random que's. So I thought that we cannot have the event like that so I went back to bed and missed the entire event. I was waiting for a week to play in the event and even took time off to be here. Got up at 6am ready to play and was told that I cannot play no one can team up. Is it my tag or something that puts people off me?

Anyway I hope everyone had fun

It was purely because we needed 20 people for the queues at the time and there wasn't 20 people in the fleet to play at that time. So we had to queue ourselves so that other people in the game would make up the remaining numbers. That's all. Everyone had to queue individually.

Ohhhh with The big dig and another one, yea as Joseph said.. if we do a provate team it needs to be exactly 20 people to be able to start the game.. sadly only like 17 ot of 20 wanted to go, so we said.. ok we can just hit the pve button and queue for big dig ourselves.. and we would of all been in the same map.. that was the easier option to get in the game as we were so low on volunteers sadly :(

but after and before that we were running the standard "invites" to a team.

There are teams still queuing even now in game, so the days not over yet.

We all missed you in the pub quiz too :( i was looking for you in chat to see if you were comming for round 2, it was funny the last time :D

no fears there is another BIG event coming up very soon, Im gonna ensure you come to that one hehe. watch this space ;)

Well thanks, too late for me. I am staying out of chat from now on and will participate less in the fleet. I have often felt ignored in the chat because when i say something or ask a question i just get dead air. If someone had of taken the extra energy to type in what you just did I would have been able to participate. However the lack of caring what people are asking in the chat is apparent and causes such misunderstandings. Popularity factor 0 equals being ignored regardless of the relevance to the game. Popularity factor 10 talks about passing gas and everyone is all over it. I stopped playing the popularity game when I was in high school. From now on I am a ghost until I find a better place to haunt.

Can I highlight in your other thread I responded within two minutes and got no response... we do our very hardest to make sure everyone is included. When running large scale event's it can be very time intensive for the organisers and there are a lot of things going on. Fleet chat can sometimes be overwhelmed with incoming communications and filtering through general chit chat and genuine calls for help can be difficult.

No one chooses to ignore you and if we had noticed the confused shout out we would have gladly given you a more detailed explanation of what we meant.

Had you stayed you would have possibly missed the large man teams but would have been included in the smaller gatherings, or you might have gotten into the larger ones once realising what we were doing.

Taking yourself away from chat and participating less within the fleet is your choice, but this is a very involved fleet and we do try, and succeed very well, at including everyone where we can.

General tips for the future, if in doubt, send a /tell to someone and they should be able to hear that notification and respond better than paying attention to fleet chat.

Any one of the leadership will be happy to assist when they are online, if you don't know who they are, this page should help!

I'm sorry to hear about what has transpired with your evening pinkscarab, I'm sure that with what you have noted would be taken into consideration for future event that happen in game and a clearer in-game conversation on what is required with certain PVE queue's is made clear when asked on to chat.

I must say, the feeling of being ignored is terrible to hear happen with you at this moment of time. With respect to Gareth, I'm sure that when future events come up that this kind of mishap won't happen again. But I ask if you could try to make further attempts with any new events to come, it would be disappointing to know you that you don't feel included with events.

As someone who's worked closely with the leadership team for years, I can whole-heartedly say that you were not intentionally shut out of todays events. They always do their absolute best to ensure that everyone willing gets to participate, but they are not able to catch every instance.

It is unfortunate that you are feeling ignored, especially in this community where I find them to be a friendly bunch overall! Could it be possible that maybe they missed your messages in chat? If it's a question people don't usually respond if they are unsure of the answer. I've said stuff in chat, even whilst holding a leadership position, that have gone unanswered. I don't believe it has anything to do with popularity. (And honestly if someone believes themselves to be better than another in this fleet, then they can kindly sit in my ignore list.) It is more than likely that they were simply busy, albeit smashing the spacebar, paying attention to the chatter on TS, alt-tabbed, or having steamy chat conversations. (Oh, all of you do it, don't lie! :P )

Gareth has also offered to personally see to it that you are involved in the next events, and has tried to reach out to you today on multiple occasions, which I think says a lot.

I truly hope that you will reconsider your position and join us for future events. It can be a lot of fun and we need every member we can possibly get!

Best wishes,
~Andrew

Just a quick note to say congrats to Gareth on running his first full-day fleet event and thanks for all the work that was put into it by G, the fab resources department and everyone else who made it possible.

The theme was a very cool idea and it was neat that everyone got on-board to change their signatures, the fleet logo and the site graphics to give it that extra feeling of immersion. Top notch fun!

Cheers all!

I wanted to thank everyone who participated, I had loads of fun. The event was a huge success and I was happy to see so many fleeties joining in on the fun. I especially want to thank Gareth for organizing today's event. I know he put in a lot of personal time to make sure the event was a great experience for everyone. Bravo sir!

Thank you for the fun day, there was sure a lot of work put into this and that showed.

And despite dancing on tables with shirtless Romulans, getting drunk at DS9 and not being able to join pretty much anything (due being under lvl 50)... I managed to level up from 40 to 50 on Reflection day.

Thank you Gareth, Imperial Command, Fleet.

I respectfully disagree with that assessment. Mainly because I don't see how such a popularity structure can develop in a group with such high turnover. I went away for a month on vacation and I come back to half a new fleet (including you!) and in a few months lots of people we see all the time will be around less and other people will be around. It's hard to have a popularity hierarchy when the vast majority of people barely know each other's names.

Also, when I first came on-board last year, people would talk to me in chat if I made a joke or something and I knew no one. I still don't know people that well since I'm the worst Team Speak user in the fleet, and I still feel like people listen when they're around. On the other hand, I'm a fleet captain now and I can write things into the ether of fleet chat that get completely ignored, like even this past weekend.

Last, during an event it's hard to follow what's going on in chat. For example, I was setting up Mine Trap (a 20-person queue) yesterday and, in order to fill it, I had to announce in multiple channels (we just don't have enough fleeties interested in it to fill it). Voleron@akrilon wanted to join and I couldn't get him in by right-clicking his name, and I was switching between 4 tabs and checking out the 6 channels I was announcing in while trying to get the players already in the queue organized so that we wouldn't completely fail... while some of those players were yelling at me in chat to start the queue already even though we didn't have full teams yet.

So, in the mayhem, I forgot about the quotation marks trick that can get around the invite bug. I apologized to Voleron later, but the point of this story is that someone with a popularity factor of infinity like Voleron can still get lost in the mess of in-game chat, and that organizing stuff is hard (and uncompensated) work so maybe we can be gentler with those folks who are trying to put something together.

About questions outside of events: I answer a lot of questions when I'm online if I'm looking at fleet chat (I minimize the chat window when I'm in episode content and sometimes I'm chatting in other channels). My guess is that dead air just means that no one who saw your question knows the answer, and everyone's waiting for someone else to give the answer instead of saying they don't know.

This was Reflection Day. Set in the Mirror Universe. And in the Mirror Universe, we don't play by the rules or abide by schedules.

After the festivities officially ended, I ran some unofficial Reflection Day events, or "pirate raids", as I called them--two Fleet Alerts, a run of Eurrsk's excellent Foundry mission, "Dead in Space", and a a chance for us pirates to get drunk together at Terok Nor (which you might know as Deep Space Nine).

I ran these "raids" for three hours, from noon to 3 p.m. Alaska time. Joining me were @Eurrsk, @eazzie79, @Akrilon, @reverendmike, @mstfrancis, @Skemta, and @williamjaneway. I had promised these fine pirates that I would randomly select one to receive a prize that Ylis had looted from a ship called the ISS Z-Store. Congratulate @Eurrsk, to whom I just sent a Krenim Temporal Specialist Doff, as well as the Temporal Research Assignment, "Kerr Loops"!

I'm glad we were able to extend the celebration, and was most grateful to have some good folks join in. I just may be inspired to run more spur-of-the-moment, unofficial events in the future.
